California Quakes @ Castle Rock Hounds
Series Preview:	It’s a battle of historical nemeses, as the division-leading Quakes visit the second-place Hounds. Castle Rock has the 2nd best home record in the league, while California has the third best road record. Something’s gotta give…..
Game #1:	An itchy Elarton gets a big grade bump (8 to 13) for Castle Rock, which will help in facing Bruce Chen (14). Elarton walks the bases loaded in the 1st and hits Fryman to force in a run, but gets out of the jam, allowing just the one run. Castle Rock gets two-out RBI singles from both Sweeney and Snow to take a 2-1 lead after the bottom of the first, as things have started out hot here. The teams exchange runs and it is 5-4 going into the 6th, advantage Hounds. But, California will not be denied. They pick up two runs in the top of the 6th to take a 6-5 lead. Elarton is pulled after allowing 9 (!) walks for Castle Roc (he does not have a W). California tacks on four more in the 8th, and Castle Rock loses Bonds for two games in an outfield collision. Castle Rock loads the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the 9th, but can’t manage to score a run. The final is 11-5, California. WP: Franco (3-0) LP: Elarton (3-6)
Game #2:	Ohka vs. Doug Davis in a decidedly friendly matchup for California. And, it plays out that way. The Quakes pound out 17 hits (7 runs) and hold the Hounds to just a solo HR. WP: Ohka (3-3) LP: Davis (3-4)
Game #3:	Burba vs. Dreifort in this one. Quakes explode for four runs in the top of the 4th to take a 5-2 lead, highlighted by a 3-run Alfonzo homer. Hounds tie it up at 5-5 in the bottom of the 5th, but they are still missing Bonds for this game. Castle Rock takes the 6-5 lead in the bottom of the 7th on a pinch-hit RBI from Alex Cabrera. Benitez comes on to try to close it out in the top of the 9th, and is greeted by a leadoff HR from Fryman to tie it up. And, it all goes downhill from there, as Benitez (a 22) gives up 7 hits and a walk, and California scores 6 runs in the top of the 9th. Benitez blows the save in epic fashion. 11-6 final. Game #4:	Pettitte takes the mound for Castle Rock in this one, hoping to stem the bleeding. Instead, California scores 6 runs before even recording an out in the top of the 1st! Castle Rock gets three runs back in the bottom half to make it 6-3 after just one inning. But, California keeps piling it on, scoring 11 runs off of Pettitte before he is pulled after the 4th. Castle Rock does end up making it close, getting the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the 9th, but it ends up being a 13-11, California win. They have taken the first four games. Game #5:	Kenny Rogers is cruising until the top of the 3rd, where he is lost for 5 days, and we have to go to the bullpen. But, the pen does a fantastic job and the Hounds bats are strong, as we finally win a game, 8-2. WP: Wunsch (4-4) LP: Pavano (5-5)
Game #6:	California jumps all over Elarton in this one, and takes the series finale by a score of 8-1, completing a dominant 6-game set over Castle Rock. WP: Chen (7-1) LP: Elarton (3-7)
Series Summary:	California thoroughly dominates Castle Rock in this series, taking it 5-1, proving who the best team in the AL West is this season.

Santa Rosa Beach Bums @ Hampton Huskies
Series Preview:	Well this would be an divisional rivalry bout save for the fact that we suck and it’s more like just getting another reaming at the hands of a MWWL team.
Game #1:	The Huskies somehow manage to overcome seven walks by starter Jamey (Houdini) Wright as they slipped past the Bums 5-3. Hidalgo and alomar each had three hits for Santa Rosa with a double by Alomar being the team’s only extrabase hit. For the Huskies, Steve Cox (1) and Ricky (Babe) Gutierrez (2) homered. Josias Manzanillo saved his 3rd of the season as the team discovered he sucks the least on the relief corps.
Game #2:	The start of the absolutely arcade-like games as the teams combined for 36 hits in a 18-11 Hampton win with Ron Coomer doing his part before getting tossed on the free agent scrap heap with his 3rd homer of the season that just happened to come with the bases loaded. The Bums sported some very weird contrasting pitching lines with Hector Carrasco tossing three shutout innings of 1,-hit ball compared to Valerio de los Santos (2/3 IP, 2 H, 2-BB, 4-ER) and Steve Karsay (2/3 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 6R, 5 ER). Hidalgo and Koskie each had four hits for Santa Rosa with Hidalgo smacking his 21st homer of the season. Stynes (7) and Surhoff (5) also homered for Hampton with Lee and Surhoff each having four hits. What a trash game.
Game #3:	The Beach Bums ravaged Tony Armas Jr. for 12 runs in less than 5 innings as they coasted to a 14-3 laugher. Frank Thomas (18) and Benji Molina (7) went deep for the Bums. Both Molina and John Vanderwaal drove in four runs in the game. I would suggest Armas Jr. should be taken out back a la Ol’ Yeller but we need his innings to get through the season.
Game #4:	Ricky (Babe) Gutierrez may have come into the series with only one homer but he hit his 2nd and 3rd of the series in this game as Hampton took it 6-2. Barry Zito improved to 3-1 with eight innings of work with only two runs allowed on four hits.
Game #5:	Queue the laugh track … The Bums pummel the Huskies 12-3 led by Richard Hidalgo who had a homer and two doubles.
Game #6:	Yeah sure the Bums won this game 18-2, but Gutierrez hit his 4th homer of the series. Caminiti’s steroid riddled body homered twice and drove in six runs with Frank Thomas and John Vanderwaal each driving in four.
Series Summary:	Just a plainly bizarre series which at one point saw Santa Rosa pitchers walk six batters in a row but the teams did fight to a split. Only thing achieved was to hurt our draft lottery position. Oh well.

Hollywood Vampires @ Winnipeg Goldeyes
Series Preview:	Winnipeg raised the White Flag and traded our pen and Big Mac but fans get to see them play Hollywood and their quest for 1st pick.
Game #1:	Schilling to much for Hollywood, as Buhner and Vizquel homers 6-1 Winnipeg.
Game #2:	Quinn homers for Hollywood not enough as Winnipeg walks it off 6-5.
Game #3:	Vizquel scores 4 runs as Winnipeg wins 8-4.
Game #4:	Everitt hots two homers Winnipeg wins 5-3.
Game #5:	Everitt 2 rbis another walk off 6-5 win for Winnipeg.
Game #6:	Schilling wins it 11-5.
Series Summary:	Winnipeg sweeps the Hollywood Vamps. Pitcher schilling 15 innings 2 wins 5 runs allowed. Mike Matheny 8 rbis 13 for 22 .591 average 5 doubles.

Michigan Mauraders @ Connecticut Jays
Series Preview:	Connecticut hosts Michigan for 6 games.
Game #1:	Michigan 11 Connecticut 4 WP O Hernandez 9-4 LPK Benson 6-4 Hernandez goes 7 effective innings for the win. Anderson has 3 RBIs and Castilla belts three run homer for the Marauders.
Game #2:	Michigan 7 Connecticut 3 WP B Penny 5-7 LPC Finley 3-9 Michigan scores three quick runs in the first and the Jays tied it on a Vaughn three run homer in the 3rd. Michigan breaks in the 4th scoring single run and take control of game on a Guzman two run homer.
Game #3:	Michigan 6 Connecticut 2 WP M Clement 3-8 LP B Powell 1-6 Michigan scores 4 in the 3rd to take control of the game. Starter Clement and two relievers strike out 12 Jays batters.
Game #4:	Michigan 4 Connecticut 3 – (10 innings) WP B Wickman 3-4 LP R Nen 2-6 A two-run homer by Edmonds in the top of the 9th ties game at 3. An Anderson single in the top of the 10th gives Michigan the lead. Vaughn and Piazza homer for the Jays.
Game #5:	Michigan 9 Connecticut 0 WP L Hernandez 6-7 LP A Leiter 4-9 Starter Hernandez and reliver Rekar shut out Jays on 7 hits . All Michigan starters get base hits.
Game #6:	Connecticut 4 Michigan 2 WP K Benson 7-4 LP O Hernandez 9-5 Jays salvage last game of the series behind pitching of Benson 10Ks over 7.2 innings. Piazza and Polonia homer for the Jays.
Series Summary:	The Jays continue disappointing season as Michigan makes easy work of them.

Chicago Demolition @ Monroeville Maulers
Series Preview:	The MAULERS 43-33 sitting comfortably in second place of the AL Central Division visit the Windy City and division-leading CHI. Here’s to hoping we avoid the DEMOLITION wrecking ball and at least leave with a series split. MVM GM The “Olde Tymer“ filling in and running the SIM for CHI GM “Young Gun” Corrado due to his heavy schedule with MLB “scouting” lol.
Game #1:	MVM 3-6-0 / CHI 8-16-1 L- Scott Schoeneweis 8-5, vs W- Pedro Martinez 13-0Pedro “El Grande” Martinez is on the mound need I say more lights out for MVM. 8-IP 0-Runs 2-Hits, 12Ks to go along with his perfect 13-0 record! MAULERS do plate 3 in the top of the 9th but off of the CHI bullpen. Not sure why the MMGR replaced Pedro Martinez with Billy Wagner or anyone for that matter he deserved a complete game shutout. Scott Schoeneweis shell shocked once again. Multi-Hit game for Rich Becker, Carlos Delgado, Phil Nevin, Jeff Cirillo, Edgar Renteria. CHI 8-3.
Game #2:	MVM 2-6-0 / 5-7-1 L- Jon Lieber 9-6 vs W- Arthur Rhodes 1-0The second half of the dynamic duo for CHI Roger “Rocket” Clemens and it’s a pitcher’s dual as Jon Lieber is up to the task and it’s 2-1 CHI after 7. But Lieber runs out of steam as Phil Nevin comes to the rescue for CHI with a 3-run HR in the bottom of the 8th, the Demolition adds one more for good measure. Nelson Cruz comes on in relief of Roger Clemens in the 9th for SV-6 easily squelching a tepid MVM attempt at a 9th-inning rally. CHI 5-2
Game #3:	MVM 6-15-0 / CHI 11-11-0 L- Andy Ashby 6-8 vs W- Kevin Millwood 8-5Wow CHI 11 runs on 11 hits as Phil Nevin HRs again, 3 Demolition players with a multi-hit game. Maulers hammer out 15 hits but only plated 6 runs. MVM highlights, Pokey Reese league-leading 25th SB, Vladimir Guerrero 1 hit shy of the cycle, 3-5 2B, 3B, HR #34. A 6-run 5th inning for CHI was the difference, CHI 11-6.
Game #4:	W- Brian Tollberg 7-3 vs L- Mike Morgan 7-4 The Maulers play copycat of CHI from game 3 with efficient use of the lumber and plate 13 runs on 14 hits. Once again it’s the Vladimir Guerrero show 4-5, with a 3-HR game #s 35, 36, 37, and 8-RBIs for 92! Brian Tollberg cruises along hurling a 4 hitter finally squelching the Demolition hit parade. Todd Jones finishes the 9th for MVM. Pokey Reese is 3-4 with a 3B. MVM 13-2.
Game #5:	MVM 4-7-0 / CHI 5-8-1 L- Jason Schmidt 1-3 vs W- Pedro Martinez 14-05-1 CHI after 7 as “El Grande” once again cruises along, and once again MMGR replaces Pedro Martinez this time in the 8th with Nelson Cruz and it almost costs CHI as the Maulers plate 3-runs, but MVM falls short by 1, as Arthur Rhodes comes on to put out the fire and Justin Speier gets the SV-12, CHI holds on for another victory. Phil Nevin 2-3, Carlos Delgado smacks his league-leading 41st 2B. CHI 5-4.
Game #6:	MVM 4-10-1 / CHI 3-10-1 W- Turk Wendell 4-1 vs L- Billy Wagner 1-1Maulers call on Ramon Mendoza for starting pitching help and he scatters 8 hits allowing 3 runs and keeping it close as the Maulers offense comes through in the top of the 10th for the extra-inning victory. MVM chases Roger Clemens in the top of the 7th as he gets into trouble surrendering back-to-back extra-base hits, a Russ Branyan long ball, and then a 2B by Frank Catalanotto, but the CHI bull pen Justin Speier squelches the threat allowing only 1 run. Once again it’s “Vlad the Impaler” Vladimir Guerrero goes 3-5 his 5th multi-hit game of the series smashing HR #38 for the GWH off of Billy Wagner in the top of the 10th and his 93rd RBI. Ray King completes a perfect 10th for SV-12. MVM 4-3.
Series Summary:	MVM 32/58/2 – CHI 34-56-4 The Maulers save some face by going 2-4 in the series as it looked grim after losing the first 3 games being smashed by the Demolition wrecking ball and thorough construction site clean-up from Pedro Martinez and Roger Clemens. A highlight for MVM Vladimir Guerrero POW nominee 15-27 BA .556, 4-2B, 2-3B, 5-HR 10-RBIs SLG 1.410. For CHI Phil Nevin 8-23 .367, 1-2B, 2-HR, 6-RBI. Chicago lengthens their lead in the AL Central, to 7 games. Looks like too tall a task for MVM to catch them any time soon if at all.

Long Beach Titans @ Blarney Drive Bandits
Series Preview:	Titans and Bandits for 6 games.
Game #1:	Each team collects 7 hits but 3 of those for Blarney were HRs. LBT 2 BDB 6 W: Davey (2-1) L: D’Amico (5-7)
Game #2:	Titan’s led 3-0 heading into bottom half of the 6th where Blarney rally’s for 3 of their own. Tied 3-3 heaind into the 9th, Tam holds Long Beach but Veres couldn’t do the same. LBT 3 BDB 4 W: Tam (6-2) L: Veres (4-2)
Game #3:	Blarney out quick and build a 6-0 lead after 4 full. Titans tag Hampton for 3 off a Justice bomb in the 5th. That would be all the scoring for Long Beach. LBT 3 BDB 7 W: Hampton (8-4) L: Mercedes (7-1)
Game #4:	4-2 after 8, Blarney sends Groom to the hill with the goal of “finish the game”. He accomplishes the task but is crushed in the process. Titans drill 5 HRs with 3 of them off the hapless Groom. LBT 11 BDB 4 W:Gardner (8-2) L: Wells (10-3)
Game #5:	The Bandits roar back for Groom’s pummeling by hanging a bunch of crooked numbers. Long Beach hurlers where hit hard for 19 hits. Rosado twirled another good start for Blarney. LBT 1 BDB 15 W: Rosado (2-1) L: Rusch (10-4)
Game #6:	The Big Unit, fresh off the IL, serves up 8 innings of doughnuts. D’Amico pitched well until he tired in the 7th and Blarney bats took advantage. LBT 0 BDB 5 W: Johnson (13-1) L: D’Amico (5-8)
Series Summary:	Bandits take 5 of 6.

Game #2:	Crabs score 4 times in the 1st inning, build an 8-3 lead, and hold on to win it 8-6. Baltimore hits 5 homeruns: Mark McLemore (2), Michael Tucker (7), Jorge Posada (11), and Chipper Jones (14 & 15). Luis Alicea had 3 hits, including homerun #5, and scored 3 times for Manhattan. Game #3:	Chipper Jones clubs his 3rd homerun of the series, a 2-run walkoff shot in the 10th, for Baltimore’s 3rd victory in a row. Sean Casey (14) and Jorge Posada (12) also go deep for the Crabs. HORNETS 4 / 8 / 1 CRABS 6 / 9 / 1 WP – Kohlmeier (1-0) LP – Williams (1-4)
Game #4:	Hornets get in the win column behind a strong performance by Rick Reed, who pitches 8 innings to earn his 8th win of the year. Matt Stairs clubbed his 17th longball of the season. Game #5:	Hornets starter John Halama yields 7 runs and 11 hits in 4 innings of work, and Baltimore cruises to a 10-4 win. Jorge Posada goes 3 for 3, hitting homerun #14, scoring two times and knocking in 3 to lead the Crab offense. Kevin Elster also homered (7) for Baltimore. Game #6:	Baltimore rallies for 2 in the 7th and 1 in the 9th to spoil Brian Anderson‘s complete game effort. Manhattan’s Garrett Anderson knocked in his 86th run of the season. HORNETS 2 / 4 / 2 CRABS 3 / 5 / 0 WP – Stanton (7-0) LP – Anderson (3-5)
Series Summary:	The Crabs manage to win 5 of 6 to make it a 3-team race in the N.L. East as we hit the midpoint of the season.
