Castle Rock Hounds @ Portland Mavericks

Series Preview: Castle Rock has been very good at home (21-9), and are looking to take a few from Portland, who sits in 4th place in the Division.
Game #1: A pair of 3 grade starters with better years ahead of them, Kile and Burkett, take the mound in this one. The high-powered offense feasts on Kile and the Portland bullpen, as they scatter 11 hits, including a homer from Bonds. Burkett struggles in the 2nd inning and settles down to throw a CG victory. The final is 9-3, Castle Rock.

WP: Burkett (2-2)
LP: Kile (0-1)

Game #2: Sirotka vs. Rogers in Game 2. Zeile hits a solo shot in the 2nd to give Portland a 1-0 lead. But, Sweeney and Huskey go back-to-back for Castle Rock in the 4th to take the 2-1 lead. It was fairly close until Placido Polanco hit a 3-run dinger in the 7th to make it 7-3, and Castle Rock would add on four more in the 8th to make it an 11-4, final for Castle Rock. Kenny Rogers improves to 8-1 on the season.

WP: Rogers (8-1)
LP: Sirotka (3-9)

Game #3: Portland pulls away late in this one, as Knoblauch hits a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the 8th to make it 5-2, Portland. The Mavericks get 18 hits on the day! In an unfortunate twist for Portland, they have two relievers to get injured in the bottom of the 9th (Speier for 7 and White for 5) while just tossing pitches. The final is 6-2, Portland.

WP: Sparks (4-3)
LP: Masaoka (2-1)

Game #4: Castle Rock feasts on Mike Morgan, as they plate 6 runs through the first three innings. Meanwhile, Hermanson is pitching a gem for the Hounds, going the distance in a 10-1 Castle Rock victory. Bergman gives up 8 runs before being pulled in the bottom of the fifth. Castle Rock ends up scoring 13 runs on 20 hits, but it comes at a cost. Their top two catchers, Sweeney and Barrett are lost to injury (3 and 14 days, respectively). Bonds and Barrett delivered homers on the day. The final was 13-4, Castle Rock, as they take a 4-1 series lead.

WP: Dreifort (4-7)
LP: Bergman (4-3)

Game #6: Elarton gets a spot start for Castle Rock as Burkett is not ready to pitch again because it’s short rest for a double-header. He will be facing Kile, who was knocked out early in Game 1 and can throw. Castle Rock scores two unearned runs (no hits) in the bottom of the 1st to jump out to an early lead. The Portland defense just absolutely falls apart in this one, committing 5 errors, which leads to 5 unearned runs scoring for Castle Rock. The final is 6-2, Castle Rock.

LP: Kile (0-2)
