Series Summary: 3-3 split with 3 going to extras.

DeWitt Tigers @ Castle Rock Hounds

Series Preview: Dewitt comes in at 9-7, while Castle Rock is 8-8. Two second place teams battling it out.
Game #1: It’s a hit (and error) parade, as the Tigers get 10 hits and the Hounds get 13. Each team commits two errors. Girardi is lost to Dewitt for 12 days. The difference ends up being two Bonds homers, as the Hounds take the opener 10-9.

WP: Wetteland (1-0)
LP: Henry (0-1)
S: Benitez (2)

Game #2: The Hounds jump out to a 7-1 lead and don’t look back, as they rough up Sidney Ponson. Each team commits two errors again. Kenny Rogers pitches a nice game for the Hounds, going 7 innings, giving up just one run. The final is 7-2, Hounds.

WP: Rogers (1-2)
LP: Ponson (2-1)

Game #3: The Hounds are playing catch up all game this time, as the Tigers jump out to a 6-2 lead. But, with this offense, you can never count Castle Rock out. Castle Rock gets two runs in the 4th, 6th and 9th to take the game 7-6. Koch blows the save for Dewitt who had a chance to get their first victory in the series. The last run was due to a walk-off Adrian Beltre error.

WP: Wunsch (1-0)
LP: Koch (0-4)

Game #4: Having already clinched a series split, the Hounds are hungry for more. And, they don’t disappoint the home funs, exploding for 8 runs (6 earned) and taking Game 4 by a 8-3 margin. The Tigers actually out-hit the Hounds 10-9, but Castle Rock delivered two long balls from Snow and Dye. John Burkett strikes out 13(!) in the victory for the Hounds.

WP: Burkett (2-0)
LP: Loaiza (0-2)

Game #5: Castle Rock jumps out to an early lead and doesn’t look back in this one, despite Bartolo Colon being on the mound for Dewitt. The Hounds hit up Colon for 7 earned runs in 5 IP, including four homers. Bonds (10), Dye (7), Sweeney (7), Easley (2) and Polanco (1) end up going yard for the Hounds, whose offense is just ridiculous. Every starter has at least one hit for Castle Rock, and Darren Dreifort goes 8 IP for the Hounds.

WP: Dreifort (4-0)
LP: Colon (2-2)

Game #6: Castle Rock looking for an unexpected 6-game sweep of a good Dewitt team. Both teams are hit by fatigue in this one, as guys are showing up Tired and Bushed left and right. Andy Pettitte twirls a magnificent game for Castle Rock, going the distance and giving up 0 runs on 6 hits. Shawn Estes tries to match him, but he ends up giving up 2 runs in 8 IP and taking the hard-luck loss. Castle Rock completes the sweep with a 2-0 victory.

WP: Pettitte (3-1)
LP: Estes (0-2)

Series Summary: Castle Rock surprises the home crowd with a 6-game sweep of a tough Dewitt team. With a lineup of Snow, Bonds, Luis Gonzalez, Dye and Sweeney at the top, it is going to be really hard to keep this Hounds team off of the scoreboard!

Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Hollywood Vampires

Series Summary: Hollywood wins game 1, then drops the next 5, losing the series 1 games to 5.

California Quakes @ Southlake Scorpions

Series Preview: California Quakes travel to Southlake to take on the Scorpions in a 6 game set.
Series Summary: Quakes bats rocked Southlake pitching scoring 13,12 and 9 twice to take 4 games.

Hampton Huskies @ Blarney Drive Bandits

Burnitz with a gran slam and Lee 2-4 w/ 3 runs scored. Giles and Ordonez each with 3 hits and 3 RBI for Blarney.

HH 8 BDB 9

Montreal Canadiens @ Monroeville Maulers

Series Preview: The MAULERS enjoy an extended home stand while looking to gain ground on division-leading CHICAGO. They welcome MONTREAL to HAMMER & STEEL STADIUM for a 6-game series as the CANDADIANS hope for a series victory to improve their bottom line.
Game #1: MON 3-12-0 / MVM 7-13-1
L-MADDUX 1-3, vs W- Scott Schoeneweis 4-0
The MAULERS chip away scoring runs, here and there, frustrating MADDUX and chasing him after 6. Scott Schoeneweis keeps MON at bay scattering 8 hits and continuing his quality pitching along with bullpen support leading MVM to a 7-3 victory. The bats of Vladimir Guerrero & Troy Glaus continue the heavy lifting for the MAULERS along with efficient support staff getting on base. Not much excitement from the CANADIAN offense 3-2Bs while spraying 9 singles.2B: DAMON (3), SAENZ (1), GONZALEZ 2(3)
RBI: GRACE (9), MACIAS 2(2) LOB: 9
SB: DAMON (2)2B: Todd Hollandsworth (1)

Game #2: MON 6-11-0 / MVM 1-6-1
W-SELE 3-0 vs L- Reid Cornelius 1-2
Goose eggs thru 4, as both pitchers start strong. However, it’s SELE that continues on frustrating a potent MVM lineup scattering 6 singles and hurling a 6-hit gem for the CG victory. The CANADIAN bats come alive in the 5th thru the 9th and seal the deal. DAMON & JAVIER shine for the CANADIANS. MON 6-1.3B: GANT (2)
HR: DAMON (5) 2-5, JAVIER (1) 2-4
RBI: DAMON 3(9), JAVIER (3), GANT 2(9) LOB: 9

Game #3: MON 8-11-0 / MVM 12-19-4
L-NEAGLE 0-2, vs W- Jon Lieber 3-1
The sleeping MAULER giant awakes scoring 12 runs after 5 innings and it appears MVM will cruise to victory. However, the CANADIAN bats come alive in the 7th & 8th plating 6 with run production by committee. Fortunately for the MAULERS Turk Wendell had command of his pitches and put out the fire after CORDOVA couldn’t get his grandma out allowing 7 hits and 6 runs over 1-1/3 IP (no offense Granny, lol). MVM holds on for victory with a massive offense fireworks display once again by Vladimir Guerrero & Troy Glaus. Also, once again, somehow the MAULERS survive a horrid defensive performance committing 4 errors, but none the worse allowing no unearned runs. MVM 12-8.2B: GONZALEZ (4)

RBI: Jason Varitek (4) LOB: 13
Game #4: MON 2-5-0 / MVM 9-7-1
L-POLITTE 0-2 vs W- Andy Ashby 1-3
MAULERS jump out to a 4-0 lead after the first. MON starter POLITTE settles down for 5.2 then the CANADIAN bullpen takes over but can’t keep it close allowing 5 runs in the 7th & 8th. Andy Ashby finally has his command scattering 5 hits and no earned runs, allowing only 2 unearned runs for a CG victory. MVM produces 9 runs on just 7 hits on 2, count them 2, GSHRs by Vladimir Guerrero & Jacque Jones! MVM 9-2.2B: GREER (9)

Game #5: MON 20-24-0 / MVM 0-3-1
W-WEAVER 2-1, vs L- Brian Tollberg 1-1
What can one say about a 20-0 shellacking (insert crazy face emoji) this may be a MWWL record for most runs in a shutout – 20-24-0. WEAVER hurls a 3-hitter and there is nothing to say about the MAULERS except take your medicine and live to fight another day. Although once again Francisco Cordova (2.2IP 10H 7R 7ER 1BB 1K 1HR) fails miserably in relief. At the same time Jason Schmidt matched his lackluster performance over 3.2IP. Maybe either one of them would be better suited in a starter role. MON 20-0.RS: DAMON 5, GRACE 6, KOTSAY 3 / JAVIER 4-4
2B: KOTSAY (4), GARCE (8) 5-6, LAMB (2) 3-6, SAENZ (2)

GSHR: SAENZ (1)GIDP: Todd Hollandsworth 2(2) LOB: 6
Game #6: MON 2-12-0 / MVM 4-6-0
L-MADDUX 1-4, vs W- Scott Schoeneweis 5-0
Game 1 starters face off again and it’s Déjà Vu, as Scott Schoeneweis produces another quality start going 7.1 for his 5th win of the season and the MAULER bullpen shuts the door as Ray King picks up the save. Troy Glaus Homer’s leading the run production for MVM. The MAULERS take the series 4-2 with a solid offensive performance and timely pitching when they need it the most. MON pounds out 12 hits while LOB 14. MVM 4-2.2B: DAMON (4), SAENZ (3)
RBI: DAMON (10), SPENCER (8) LOB: 142B: Russ Branyan (1)
HR: Troy Glaus (6)
RBI: Ron Mateo (4), Troy Glaus 2(16) LOB: 6
MVM turns 2 key DPs
Series Summary: Series Summary – MVM-4 MON-2 / MON: 38-75-0, MVM 33-54-8

The MAULERS continue to challenge division-leading CHI as they build upon a fast start taking the series 4-2. A solid offensive performance and timely pitching was the remedy when they need it the most. The series highlight was the 20-0 blitzkrieg by MON in game 4 and the 2 GSHRs in game 4. The dynamic duo of Vladimir Guerrero & Troy Glaus continue to shine on the diamond, but the MVM defense continues to struggle while somehow dodging another bullet committing 8 errors but only allowing 3 unearned runs, 2 in a winning effort that spoiled the shutout for Andy Ashby and the other in the 20-0 CANADIAN explosion in game 5, no worse for wear. Next, the MAULERS get ready for an extended road trip after a successful extended home stand.
