Series Summary:	Series Summary – CHI: 2-3 / R26-H46-E 3 / MVM: 3-2 / R32-H-50-E-5 The MAULERS keep pace with division-leading CHI and take the series 3-2 gaining 1 game, overall an exciting hit parade with plenty of offensive fireworks by both teams along with effective pitching when needed. The MAULERS’ defense continues to struggle more often than coach PANEK would like. The MAULERS have an extended home stand and look to continue their winning ways against a formable opponent from MONTREAL.

Series Summary:	Portland loses the first two, but rebounds to take the next three. Fort Worth stands at 4-12, but appear to have a much better team than that. The NL West has all good teams beating up on each other right now. Portland climbs back to the .500 mark.

Game #1:	Manhattan grabs a 2-1 after 1, but then the Blue Crabs take over the RF tandem of Brian Hunter (1) and Wendell MaGee (1) each smack 2 run homers. And it’s 8-3 Baltimore going into the bottom of the 9th. Then the unexpected looms. After scoring 2 runs, the Gas Hornets load the bases, but with 2 outs. Luis Alicea up – walk-off GRAND SLAM!! Game #2:	Gas Hornets get the big lea in this one carrying a 7-4 margin into the 9th. Tony Batista (3) homered for Baltimore and a slew of Gas Hornets contributed to their lead. Then we go to the 9th and for sure, the Blue Crabs load the bases with 2 outs and Gabe Kapler connects, but it’s caught at the wall for the final out. Game #3:	Rick Reed and Ryan Dempster are locked up in a great pitchers’ duel. Dempster leaves in the 7th and Reed should have. 1-1 top of the 8th and Wendell MaGee hits his 2nd PH homer (2) of the week for 2 runs and then Sean Casey slugs a 2 run shot (5) and it’s suddenly 5-1 Blue Crabs. Game #4:	Which tam will get the comeback win. Gas Hornets score 2 in the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead. Baltimore gets rbi single from Mark McLemore and Paul Wilson in the 3rd to regain the lead 3-2! Gas Hornets tie it in the bottom half. Then they get single runs in the 6th and 7th for a 5-3 lead and Matt Morris keeps it that way for the Gas Hornets win. Game #5:	One game left, oh, it’s got to be exciting. Wendell Magee drives in 2 in the 2nd and Jorge Posada doubles in 2 in the 3rd. Then Garrett Anderson hits a 3 run homer in a 5 run 3rd and Manhattan grabs a 5-4 lead! That lead last until the top of the 5th when Baltimore plates 3 runs including a 2 run Joe Oliver single. Manhattan cuts the lead to 7-6 with 1 in the 6th. But Baltimore extends it to 8-6 in the 7th on a Chipper Jones homer (4). But in the bottom half, Garrett Anderson hits his 2nd homer (4) of the game for 2 runs to tie the game! And then in the bottom of the 8th, Bobby Bonilla slugs a 2 run shot to give Manhattan the 10-8 lead that Mike Williams hangs on to in the 9th! Series Summary:	Gas Hornets grab a 4-1 series win with lots of key late inning hitting to make up for the weak starting staff and so-so bullpen. Now they take their act on the road to audition for the bigger show as them invade Hollywood. Baltimore manages 28 runs (5.6 avg) and 50 hits (10 avg) in the series and got 1 win for it. Gas Hornets feel lucky!

Hampton Huskies @ Santa Rosa Beach Bums
Series Preview:	After being made mince meat in Manhatten’s Death Valley that holds 77% winning percentage at home since the beginning of 1997, the Bums will need to repair their decimated bullpen during the first two games of the series against Hampton. The Huskies and Bums are battling to stay out of last place in the series, but it is early.
Game #1:	The Huskies are not holding back sending Armas to the mound in his first start of the season and the Bums Ortiz (0-0, 11.25) to eat some innings. With 2-out in the 2nd and runners on second and third Huskies Mueller stroked a 2-RBI single. In the bottom half Vanderwal banged a solo shot to make it a 1-run game. In the 5th Bums Molina hit a solo dinger to tie the game to make management decisions difficult. Nope. In the 6th, Huskies Burnitz walked, Cox singled and Surhoff drew a walk to load the bases with 0-out. Mueller grounded to short for one. Bums load the bases in the bottom half with 1-out. Vanderwal drew a walk scoring pinch runner Darr and chasing Armas. 3-3. Acevedo then gets out of the inning on an Encarnacion double play. In the 7th Lee doubled, Vaughn and Burnitz walked to fill the bases with 1-out. Bums pull the infield in. Doesn’t matter as Cox singled bringing in two. Huskies 5-3. Grilli replaces Oritz. In the bottom half Sanders leadoff with a double and Molina went yard. Tie game. Perez followed with a triple chasing Acevedo. With 2-out Alomar lifted a sacrifice fly, Bums 6-5. Bums need to go for the win replacing Grilli with Karsay. Hampton 5 8 0 LP: Acevedo 2b: Gutierrez 2, Lee, Burnitz; HBP: Redmond. Game #2:	After what had to be a disappointing loss the Huskies call on Eaton (0-2, 11.00) and the Bums Bohanon (0-2, 10.38). Bums score first in the 1st. With Koskie on second Hidalgo rolled a single up the middle. In their next at bat Huskies Lee leadoff with a single and Vaughn walked. But Redmond grounded into a double play before a Spiers ground out. In the 3rd Huskies Mueller walked, Hairston singled and Surhoff doubled for one. Burnitz then grounded out for another. Huskies 2-1. To lead off the 7th Redmond singled and Spiers walked, Mueller grouned into a Fielder’s Choice to make runners on first and third. And the Bums hold. In the bottom of the 7th pinch hitter Lorretta went yard to tie the game at 2 apiece. In the 8th Huskies Surhoff doubled and scored on a Vaughn double. In the bottom of the 9th Vanderwal singled and stole second with 0-out. The Bums could not convert. Hampton 3 7 2 WP: Eaton 2b: Surhoff 2, Vaughn; S: Glauber. Game #3:	With the series even Huskies Grimsley (0-0, 4.50) takes the mound to face the Bums Vazquez (0-1, 8.56). Bums fill the bases in the bottom of the 2nd on two infield singles and an error. Koskie then singled in a couple. In the 4th Huskies Stynes lead off with a walk and Gutierrez stroked a perfect hit-and-run single. Lee hit an RBI grounder scoring Stynes. Vaughn abd Burnitz folled with singles filling the bases. Cox walked in one. And Surhoff grounded into a double play squashing the potential big inning. Tied 2-2. In the 7th Bums Alomar walked, stole, advanced on a ground ball all for not as Thomas went deep, Bums 4-2. In their next at bat Huskies Stynes singled, Gutierrez ripped a double scoring Stynrs but is thrown out at third. Hampton 3 8 3 LP: Grimsley 3b: Gutierrez; Sb; Vaughn, Surhoff. Game #4:	Huskies Witasick (0-2, 14,40) takes the mound to face Bums Blair (0-0, 8.31). In the 1st, Koskie reached on error, Thomas walked and Vanderwall singled for one. Berkman then walked and Perez singled for two. Molina and Darr walked for another. Alomar singled for a couple more chasing Witasick. All the runs were unearned as were Grimsley’s in the last game! In the 4th Vaughn doubled, Lee walked and Burnitx went yard to get the Huskies back in the game. Huskies Stynes hit a solo shot in the 5th, before Burnitz hit a 3-run blast. Huskies 7-6. In the bottom half Perez tripled and Molina dropped in a single. Game reset. In the 6th Bums Thomas went deep. Hidalgo doubled, advanced on a grounder and scored on a Berkman sacrifice fly. In the 7th Stynes lead off with a homer to make it a 1-run game. Huskies place runners on second and third in the 8th and Burnitz scored on a Surhoff bunt. Tie game. Gutierrez lofts one to right and Hidalgo gunned Matthews at the plate. In the 11th with 1-out Berkman juiced it into the right field stands.
