Game #3: 6 run 4th for Gas Hornets seals the deal for the 3rd win. Brian Daubach (12) and B.J. Surhoff (23) homer for Hampton, Billy Spiers goes 4 for 5 as Huskies crank out 11 hits, but the 5 runs (4 in the 8th) weren’t enough – and Manhattan tacks on 3 more in 8th to really separate the score. Garrett Anderson (22) homers for Manhattan.
HAM 5-11-0 LP Butch Henry (0-1)
MGH 10-13-1 WP John Halama (8-8)
Game #4: Another persistent Manhattan attack as they plate 7 runs through the 4th through 7th innings to win. 3 runs late for Hampton made it look closer. Hampton’s Jeromy Burnitz homers (31) and Andy Fox (3) and Garrett Anderson (23) go deep for Gas Hornets.

MGH 9-10-1 WP Sterling Hitchcock (13-9)
Game #5: This one was close, -3-1 Manhattan after 1, 6-4 Manhattan after 2, 8-5 Manhattan after 4. Then Huskies score 2 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th to tie it. Carl Pavano looked in the dugout and bullpen and saw no help coming so he blanks the Gas Hornets from the 5th through the 11th inning. Then in the 12th Hampton scores 1 off John Wetteland, but Manhattan finally crack Pavano in the bottom of the 12th – yes, he’s still hurling although it looked like bailing wire was holding his right arm in place. But then the Huskies gets a run off Pat Mahomes in the 13th. So Pavano says – “I know, it’s still up to me!” But instead he loads the bases and then faces Derek Jeter. Jeter grounds into a FC, out at 3rd, but the game is tied. Damian Jackson then singles and Ray Durham comes around to score the winning run in the 13th. Pavano gives it a lot, 66 batters!! And almost pulls it off.
Henry Rodriguez homers (24) for Hampton and Billy Spiers goes 5 for 6 (2 runs, 2 rbis). Derek Jeter (16), Damian Jackson (2) and Garrett Anderson (24) homer for Gas Hornets.
HAM 10-21-0 LP Pavano (8-9) 13 innings
