Chicago Demolition @ Castle Rock Hounds
Series Preview:	The Demolition ride into Castle Rock on a decent roll, 7-3 in their last 10. While Castle Rock is 3rd in the AL West and Chicago is first in the Central, the Hounds actually have the better record. Should be a good one.
Game #1:	Castle Rock strikes early on Harnisch, as Tatis leads the bottom of the 1st off with a homer and Dye follows it up with a 2-run shot later in the inning to stake the Hounds out to a 3-0 lead. Harnisch is pulled after just 3.1 IP, giving up 7 runs (all earned). That is all Chris Carpenter would need, as he blanks the Demolition for 7 innings before giving way to the bullpen. Chicago gets on the board with a 3-run homer from Cirillo, but that is all they manage, as Castle Rock takes the opener by a 10-3 score. WP: Carpenter (6-3) LP: Harnisch (10-8)
Game #2:	Major advantage for the visitors in this one, as Pedro takes the mound against The Gambler, Kenny Rogers. Chicago picks up two unearned runs in the first to get Petey the early lead. Turns out that’s all he would need, as he gets the CG shutout victory in this one. The final is 6-0, Chicago. WP: Martinez (15-6) LP: Rogers (13-5)
Game #3:	Castle Rock’s defense lets them down early in this one, as they allow three unearned runs in the second inning. Chicago continues to pile on, as they score 9 runs on 15 hits, including a 4-hit night from Carlos Delgado and two homers from Cirillo. Luis Gonzalez of Castle Rock sees his 27-game hitting streak come to an end, as he was stranded in the on-deck circle to end the game. The final is 9-2, Chicago, and we have yet to have a close game in the series. WP: Clemens (7-8) LP: Hermanson (12-5)
Game #4:	Another tough pitching matchup for Castle Rock, as Millwood (19) takes on Dreifort (7). Millwood gets the better of it, as he leaves the game with a 4-1 lead. But, Castle Rock makes it interesting, as they get a bases loaded single from Sweeney off of Wagner to make it 4-3 in the 8th. Edgar Renteria steals home in the top of the 9th to extend the Demolition lead to 5-3. Castle Rock gets the winning run to the plate in the 9th, but can’t score on Wagner, and the final is 5-3, Chicago. The Demolition take a commanding 3-1 series lead. Game #5:	The Hounds give Scott Elarton a spot start to see if they can grab a victory. He faces Harnisch, who was pulled early in Game 1. It’s an inauspicious start for Elarton, as Tony Clark hits a 2-run homer in the top of the first. Bonds gets one of the runs back with a solo shot. It’s a slugfest from there out, with 10 of the 12 half innings seeing a run scored through the first 6. Chicago has a 10- 7 lead going into the bottom of the 9th. Jermaine Dye makes it interesting with a 2-out, 2-run homer to make it 10-9. Sweeney follows that up with a triple, but JT Snow lines out to the pitcher to end the threat. The final is 10-9, Chicago and the Demolition are guaranteed a series win. WP: Brocail (8-3) LP: Elarton (4-4) S: Zimmerman (2)
Game #6:	It’s a classic matchup in Game 6, as Pedro takes on Pettitte. Castle Rock looking to salvage some dignity with a victory in this one. The Hounds figure out Pedro (somehow) in this one, as he is chased after 4.1 IP, giving up 6 runs (4 earned), including homers from Tatis and Barrett. Pettitte cruises to a complete game shutout, allowing just one unearned run. The final is 12-1, Castle Rock. WP: Pettitte (8-6) LP: Martinez (15-7)
Series Summary:	Castle Rock convincingly wins the bookend games, but is outclassed by Chicago during the middle four games. Chicago takes the series, 4-2.

Southlake Scorpions @ Corktown Bootleggers

Game #2:	Southlake 4-3 (10 innings) 2 in the 9th to win it.
Game #3:	Corktown 10-9 .. Was down 8-2.
Game #4:	Southlake 7-6 (10, another late inning comeback by the winning team.

Series Summary:	Southlake wins the series 4-2. The winning team in every single game trailed at some point in that game. These 2 teams were matched up well.

Series Preview:	A tough Winnipeg squad pays a visit to Baltimore to face the Blue Crabs.

Game #3:	Baltimore should fire the manager! The Crabs clung to a 4-3 lead heading to the 9th, when the manager pulled ace hurler Tim Hudson. The Goldeyes promptly rally to tie in the 9th and win it in 10. Winnipeg’s bullpen pitches 4 and 2/3 innings of no-hit ball to shut down the Crabs. Game #4:	In need of a win, Baltimore turns to … Jay Witasick?? Well, Witasick delivers 6 strong innings, limiting the potent Goldeyes offense to 2 runs, only 1 earned, on 5 hits. Preston Wilson goes deep twice (21 & 22) and knocks in 4 to lead the Crabs offense. GOLDEYES 2 / 8 / 0 CRABS 5 / 9 / 2 WP – Witasick (6-2) LP – Glavine (12-7)
Game #5:	Curt Schilling is too much for Baltimore. Schilling goes 8, holding Baltimore to 2 runs on 4 hits. Mark McGwire blasts #51, Carl Everett knocks in 3, and Greg Myers scores 3 times to lead a 9 run Goldeyes attack. GOLDEYES 9 / 9 / 1 CRABS 2 / 5 / 2 WP – Schilling (9-8) LP – Appier (1-9)
Game #6:	All Baltimore in the finale, as the Crabs score 13 and bang out 19 hits. Preston Wilson hits his 23rd homerun of the season, and Gary Gaetti hits his 2nd. Gabe Kapler and Tony Batista each have 3 hits. Jeff Suppan goes the distance, scattering 10 hits, but only allowing 2 runs. GOLDEYES 2 / 10 / 0 CRABS 13 /19 / 0 WP – Suppan (7-8) LP – Osborne (1-2)
Series Summary:	After game 3, I was afraid Baltimore was going to get swept for the first time this season, but the Crabs bats woke up and they manage to salvage 2 of the final 3 games to drop the series 4-2. Winnipeg has a lot of big sluggers that could make them a World Series favorite if the pitching does part!

Newark Bears @ Hollywood Vampires
Series Summary:	Hollywood drops 4 of 6 to Newark.

Hampton Huskies @ Valdosta Bombers
Series Preview:	Hampton @ 3rd place Valdosta.
Game #1:	Valdosta 8-6. The Huskies made a valiant effort with a 4-run 9th but came up just short.
Game #2:	Valdosta 9-8 (10 Innings). Another wild one that the Bombers win by a hair. Manny hit a grand slam for the Bombers and Brian Daubach homered twice and knocked in 5 for the Huskies.
Game #3:	Valdosta 4-3. Jamie Moyer (14-7) scattered 10 hits and the old Bombers veteran, John Franco, saved his 14th. Manny Ramirez homered (31) again for the Bombers.
Game #4:	Valdosta 7-1. Pat Hentgen (6-10) came in with an ERA well north of 9.00 but was able to tame the Huskies attack. Steve Finley homered twice (35 & 36) and passed the 100 RBI mark.
Game #5:	Valdosta 5-4. Another tough loss for the Huskies, as they again come up just short. Franco saved #15 for the Bombers.
Game #6:	Valdosta 9-1. Bombers put a 7-spot on the board in the first inning and cruised to the win and thus the series sweep.
Series Summary:	Just what the doctor ordered for the Bombers as they sweep. The Huskies are in BAD shape AIM-Wise.

Santa Rosa Beach Bums @ Long Beach Titans
Series Preview:	As we enter the dog days of August Santa Rosa Beach will welcome the Titans to the Emerald coast for a 6 game set.
Game #1:	The Titan start the series with Karl (2-3, 3.67) to face Bums Smoltz (14-4, 3.98). In the 2nd the Bums fill the bases and with 2-out Curtis stroked a 2-run single. Bums reloaded the bases full and Sanders stroked a 2-run single. All unearned runs. In the next at bat, Titans Hocking doubled and Vidro brought him home with 2-out. In the bottom half Loretta and Encarnacion leadoff with a single and double, Perez lifted a sacrifice fly to score Loretta. Hidelgo singled to score Encarnacion and Titans pull Karl. The flood gates opened and the inning ended with the Bums up 11-1. Long Beach 2 10 2 LP: Karl 2b: Hocking 2, Vidro, Lee, Fullmer; HBP: Difelice. Game #2:	The Titans lick their wounds and call on Hopkins (7-10, 5.71) to face Bums Rosado (10-8, 3.38). In the top of the 1st Titans Hammodns reached via error, advanced and scored on a 2-out Agbayani single. The Titans fill the bases in the 2nd and Hunter ripped a 2-run single. Titans score another on an infield grounder to make it 4-0. In the 3rd Perez reached via error, Alomar doubled and Sanders brought them home. In the 4th Bums Encarnacion singled and advance on a Agbayani error. Perez and Reed followed with a double and single, 4-4. Game reset. In the 6th Koskie leadoff with a 2-base error, advanced on a Loretta single and scored on an Encarnacion infield grounder, Bums 5-4. Hawkins removed yielding zero earned runs. Bums Simas gave up a solo shot on his 1st pitch in the game to Hammons, 5-5. To leadoff the bottom of the 7th Alomar singled and Vanderwal doubled. Runners second and third. Sanders walked to fill the bases. Veres pulled. Cruz lifted one to center to score Alomar, Bums 6-5. Koskie singled to right and the infamous or famous 9-2-2-6 double play ensues. After a leadoff single and double play in the bottom of the 8th Bums Perez singled and stole. Pinch hitter Caminiti singled him home off Ankiel for an insurance run. Game #3:	The Titans went with Peterson (3-10, 6.39) to face Bums Ortiz (8-7, 4.66). To leadoff the bottom of the 3rd Perez doubled and Reed ripped an RBI single. Alomar then singled and three batters later Koskie knocked an RBI single followed by a 2-run Loretta double, Bums 4-0. In the 6th Bums Hidalgo doubled and scored on a Reed single. Meanwhile Ortiz has a 1-hit shutout going. And as soon as I spoke, Titans Defelice goes deep in the very next at bat. Long Beach 1 4 0 LP: Peterson HR: DiFelice; HBP: Relaford; Sb: Benard. Santa Rosa Beach 5 10 1 WP: Ortiz 2b: Loretta, Hidalgo, Perez.
Game #4:	To try and stop the bleeding the Titans send Thompson (3-8, 6.11) to the mound and the Bums Rapp (9-8, 5.20). In the 1st Bums Alomar doubled and Sanders tripled for one. Rapp is perfect through 3.2 innings then Hammonds walked, Vidro and Justice singled, tie game. In the bottom of the 5th Santiago went yard with 2-out, Bums 2-1. With 2-out in the 6th Titans Justice singled, DiFelice walked and Lee banged an RBI single. Game reset. Titans Hocking lead of the 7th with a single and Hammonds went deep with 2-out, Titans 4-2. Bums Hidalgo hit a solo shot in the bottom half. To leadoff the 8th Justice misses judged and fly and Alomar streaks around the bases for a triple. None out. After a Sanders walk grounds to first and Hunter throws to second?! TIE GAME. With 2-out in the 9th Titans Bernard tripled. Bums Karsay in. Titans Relaford walked and Hammonds watched the third strike go right down the middle. In the bottom of the 9th Perez leadoff with a single. Rios to pinch hit. Titans call on Ankiel. And he put them down. So its Karsay v. Ankiel. Nope Ankiel replaced with Hasegawa. Bums Caminiti walked to leadoff 11th. Loretta followed with a walk. Vanderwall to pinch hit for Encarnacion. Jimenez for Hasegawa. Strike out! And Perez grounded into a double play. Titans Hammond walked to leadoff 12th. Two batters later Justice singled him to third, 1-out. Karsay out. Simas in, oh no! Infield drawn in. And Difelice drills a double. Second and third. Simas got the next two, but did not get the job done. In the bottom half Rios beat out an infield grounder to leadoff the inning. Sixth inning in a row the Bums have leadoff runner on, only to score two runs so far. Two batters later Cruz singled and Rios is waved to third but gunned down by Justice. That should do it. And it does. Long Beach 5 10 0 WP: Jimenez 2b: DiFelice 2, Fullmer; 3b: Bernard; HR: Hammonds; IBB: Bernard, Lee; Sb: Hocking. Game #5:	Titans call on Loewer (2-8, 5.55) to keep the momentum going and the Buns Vazquez (8-3, 3.67). In the 1st Vanderwal, Cruz and Koskie single for one and after a Ducey walk Loretta rolled an RBI grounder. In the 4th Bums Santiago singled, advanced to third on a Agbayani error and scored on a Vanderwal single. After a Crus whiff Koskie ripped a 2-run double down the line chasing Loewer, Bums 5-0. In the top of the 5th Fullmer and Bernard double for one. In the bottom half Encarnacion in drilled and sent to the hospital for x-rays, pinch runner Hidalgo scored later on a Santiago 2-out single, 6-1. With 2-outs in the 7th Bernard doubled and Nixon tripled, 6-2. The Titans just won’t go away. Ducey walked to leadoff the bottom of the 7th, advanced to third on another Agbayani error and with 2-out Santiago went yard, Bums 9-2. Titans please stay down. Game #6:	Back to the beginning, Titans Karl (2-4, 3.86) versus Bums Smoltz (15-4, 3.97). In the 2nd Bums Ducey drew a walk and Perez tripled him home and Hidalgo rolled an RBI grounder. In the 4th Titans Hammonds singled and Hill went deep to leadoff the innings. Game Reset. Agbayani and Vidro then stroked back-to-back doubles. Still no outs. In the bottom half Ducey walked, Loretta doubled and Perez walked to fill the bases. Hidalgo single for two. Santiago singled to fill the baes. Curtis singled for two more. With 2-out Sanders singled for…2 more. 8-3. After two walks to leadoff the 6th Titans Haselman went deep to make the game 8-6 Bums. In the bottom half Sanders singled to lead it off, advanced and scored on a 2-out Loretta single. Bums Hidalgo added another with a solo shot to leadoff the 7th, 10-6. Bums Sanders later tripled with Santiago aboard for a comfortable lead…maybe. Series Summary:	Santa Rosa Beach was one timely hit short of a much needed sweep. Smoltz is acting like he has tired arm, but is sucking it up and still winning with nice support from the team.

Game #1:	Saberhagen twirls a 2-hitter to out duel The Big Unit. Griffey and Davis with solo shots accounted for all the scoring. DMH 2 BDB 0 W: Saberhagen (9-4) L: Johnson (15-4) S: Lowe (20)
Game #2:	Hampton cruises early but hits the wall and scuffles late. Bandits plate 5 in the 5th riding on a Giles’ Grand Salami. Danbury battle back but come up just short. DMH 5 BDB 6 W: Hampton (12-8) L: Batista (2-9) S: Johnstone (17)
Game #3:	The Hatters were efficient, scoring 10 on 11 hits. Blarney would match the 11 hits but didn’t get the hits when it mattered. Thome with a huge 3-5 6 RBI day. DMH 10 BDB 5 W: Sullivan (9-2) L: Crabtree (1-1)
Game #4:	Yoshii allows just 4 hits thru 6+ and the bullpen hung doughnuts. ll that was needed as Danbury played Houdini with Bandits on base. DMH 1 BDB 3 W: Yoshii (10-8) L: Sanders (4-4) S: Haney (1)
Game #5:	Blarney’s turn to put on the hitting shoes. Alvarez could only record one out before hitting the showers. DMH 1 BDB 10 W: Benes (10-6) L: Alvarez (10-5)
Game #6:	Another nail-biter. Blarney pulls out to a 6-1 lead only to watch Danbury mount another charge. Bandits squeak it out. Norton 3-4 2 doubles and Walbeck 2 RBI led The Hatters. Palmer dealt the big blow with a 3-run shot for Blarney. DMH 6 BDB 7 W: Howry (3-3) L: Rigdy (1-1) S: Crabtree (6) Thome and Aven both hurt for a bit.
Series Summary:	Blarney takes it 4-2 but it could have easily been 4-2 in Danbury’s favor.
