Castle Rock welcomes in a Montreal squad that has won four in a row, but has been struggling on the road, posting a 13-41 record. |
| Game #1: | The Canadiens get the better of the Hounds in the opener as the Castle Rock bullpen can’t get things done for the home fans. Grace and Ramon Castro (his first of the season) homer for Montreal, as Castle Rock can only manage 6 hits off the Canadiens pitchers. The final is 5-3, Montreal.
WP: Rupe (5-8) |
| Game #2: | Montreal takes it to Castle Rock again, as they jump out to an early lead and cruise to a 8-3 victory. Offerman and Damon deliver triples and Sprague hits a homer. Sele pitches very well to get the win.
WP: Sele (10-9) |
| Game #3: | This is getting ridiculous, as Montreal’s bats continue to pound Castle Rock pitching, while the Hounds can’t mount any kind of sustained offense. The Canadiens explode for 15 runs on 22 hits, including 4 hits each from Gregg Zaun and Mark Grace. Only one homer (Blauser), but 8 doubles for Montreal on the day. It is 15-1 going into the bottom of the 9th, and Castle Rock gets 5 runs to make it look better than it was. But, the final is 15-6, Montreal and the Canadiens take a commanding 3-0 series lead.
WP: Maddux (10-7) |
| Game #4: | The Hounds finally right the ship behind a solid performance from Dustin Hermanson. It is 1-1 going into the bottom of the 8th, but Castle Rock explodes for six runs (five unearned) in the bottom of the 8th and takes a 7-1 victory to win their first game in the series.
WP: Hermanson (12-4) |
| Game #5: | Just when we thought we had some momentum, Montreal snatches it right back. Despite going up 2-0 early, Montreal takes advantage of a 6-run fourth inning and takes another laugher, 10-5. Baines homered for Montreal, who had 11 hits on the day.
WP: Langston (2-4) |
| Game #6: | Trying to salvage some dignity, Pettitte pitches a CG shutout for the Hounds, as they take a 3-0 victory in the series finale.
