Danbury Mad Hatters @ Hampton Huskies |
|
|---|---|
| Series Preview: | Six games just for shits an giggles with me hoping for more giggles. |
| Game #1: | Rick white promoted for the first time this season and comes through with 7 great innings as the Huskies edge Danbury 2-1. Henry Rodriguez got into the lineup for his bat for the first time in a while and it was a good thing as he supplied all the runs with two solo shots while the Mad Hatters could only manage a run on a double play groundout by Todd Dunwoody in the 5th. |
| Game #2: | The Huskies smack three solo homers – two by Derrek Lee who only seems to hit them in bunches – as they downed the Hatters 6-2. Former Huskies catcher now rarely used Danbury guy Mike Stanley hammered a Brett Tomko fastball into the cheap seats as a pinch hitter in the top of the 8th. |
| Game #3: | Tom Gordon gave up a solo blast to Ken GRiffey Jr. in the top of the 9th but held on to preserve a close 3-1 win for Hampton. Kent Bottenfield was magnificent for Hampton in tossing eight innings of ball in which the Mad Hatters could only manage one unearned run courtesy of a Greg Vaughn error in the 8th. That was OK though as Vaughn smacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to make up for it. |
| Game #4: | The Mad Hatters scored four times in the 5th inning to put this one away pretty early in what wound up being a 8-5 victory for them. Craig Biggio led the charge with three hits and he drove in a pair while Cesar Hernandez and Ken Griffey JR contributed in the power department. Greg Vaughn drove in four runs with a double and a single while Derrek Lee homered for the third time in the series for Hampton in the losing effort. |
| Game #5: | Bret Saberhagen easily outduelled Rolando Arrojo as Danbury pounded the Huskies 8-2. Ron Jackson and moises Alou went deep for Danbury with Henry Rodriguez and Scott Hatteberg replying for Hampton. Todd Dunwoody and Cesar Hernandez each had three hits for the winners. |
| Game #6: | Rick White stayed tough on the mound for Hampton winning his second game of the series with seven innings of four hit, one run ball as Hampton fairly easily handled Danbury 7-2. No homers for Hampton in this one but Ricky Gutierrez hit a bases loaded triple. |
| Series Summary: | Hampton finally does not split a series by downing Danbury 4-2. |
Harper Woods Expos @ Fort Worth Panthers |
|
|---|---|
| Series Summary: | Panthers win 5 of 6. Pudge was a double short of a cycle in the last game. |
Chicago Demolition @ DeWitt Tigers |

Hollywood Vampires @ Castle Rock Hounds |
|
|---|---|
| Series Preview: | Last place Hollywood comes to Castle Rock to face a Hounds team that has been underachieving of late. |
| Game #1: | It starts poorly for Hollywood, as their starter, Jack McDowell is pulled for injury during the first batter. And, it would not get any better for the Vampires, as the Hounds jump all over their pitching, plating 7 runs in the first inning, followed by 9 more in innings 2-4. The final is 16-1, Castle Rock. All Castle Rock starters get at least 2 hits, with the exception of Easley (who hit a 3-run homer).
WP: Dreifort (3-3) |
| Game #2: | The Vampires bats come alive in this one, and despite Castle Rock taking a 6-4 lead going into the 7th, Hollywood belts out four runs in the top of that inning and ultimately takes the 8-6 victory. Jefferies and Konerko both have a pair of RBI for Hollywood.
WP: Foulke (3-6) |
| Game #3: | Castle Rock jumps out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, and it looks like it is going to be a repeat of Game 1. But, Hollywood pushes Castle Rock throughout the game and Dessens rebounds to pitch well after the first. Ultimately, it would not be enough for the Vampires, however, as Castle Rock holds on for a 4-3 victory.
WP: Hermanson (8-2) |
| Game #4: | Hounds jump out to another early lead and this time they don’t let the Vampires back into it, as Castle Rock cruises to a 10-1 victory. Joe Carter goes 4-5 with 4 RBI in the game and Pettitte nearly goes the distance for the victory.
WP: Pettitte (8-3) |
| Game #5: | Another early lead for Castle Rock, and they do enough to hold on. Hounds score 5 runs in the second inning and that is all they will need as they take it by a 5-3 score.
WP: Rogers (9-6) |
| Game #6: | It’s a close one until the bottom of the 7th, when JT Snow delivers a two-RBI double to put Castle Rock up by a 4-1 score, which would be the final outcome. Dreifort, Mulholland and Simas combine to hold the Vampires to only one run (on 8 hits though).
WP: Dreifort (4-3) |
