Detroit darted out to a 4-0 lead after 2 innings but the Stars fought back to tie it. Mo Vaughn with 4 hits (including his 16th HR) to lead the Stars.
Game #2: Jeff Juden out duels Sidney Ponson to lead the Stars to a 5-3 win over the Tigers. Juden lowered his ERA to 7.11 (yikes!) while improving his record to 4-5. Mariano Rivera pitched the 9th for his 18th save.Fernando Vina tallied 2 hits for the Tigers. Bell, Gonzalez, Casanova and Greene all with 2 hits for the Stars.
Game #3: Jamey Wright (R3) go 8 1/3 to lead the Tigers to the 6-3 win. Ordonez and Johnson with 3 hits each to lead the 13-hit attack. Ismael Valdez walks 7 in the loss.
Jeff Kent with 2-run HR in 9th to make score respectable.
Game #4: Jesus Sanchez was the star of the game for the Stars with 7 2/3 of no-hit pitching to lead the Stars to the 6-0 win. He struck out 8, walked 1 and finished with the 1-hit shutout. Mondesi, Vaughn,Kent and Mike Benjamin each with 3 hits to lead the 15-hit attack.
Game #5: Bartolo Colon with the CG in the Tigers 5-3 win. Colon with 7 K. Adrian Beltre with 2 hits and 3 RBI for the Tigers. Colon had a shutout until the Stars tallied 3 in the 9th.
Game #6: The 2 teams combined for 26 runs, 35 hits and 8 errors in a Tigers 15-11 extra inning victory. Sammy Sosa was the star going 4-6 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. Jeff Kent with 4 RBI for the losing Stars.
Series Summary: Detroit wins 4 of 6 games and the new owner of the Stars has to be looking hard to find any bright spots in his rag-tag team. One he found was Mo Vaughn (14-25) .

Game #1: Back in forth game that went into extended play after Ivan “Pudge” Rodiguez tied the game at 3 in the 6th. The Panthers got the walk off win when Fred McGriff led off the bottom of the 10th with a solo home run – his 11th of the year.

Game #3: Ft. Worth powered ahead 5 to 1 after 4 innings. After Travis Fryman hit a 2 run home run to pull within 5-3 in the 6th Edgar Martinez hit his second homer of the game in the 7th to help the Panthers pull away.
