Series Preview: The upcoming series between the Chicago Demolition (5-6) and the Monroeville Maulers (7-4) promises to be an exciting matchup. Here’s a brief preview of what to expect:

Chicago Demolition
Current Record: 5-6

Strengths: The Demolition have shown resilience in their recent games, with a strong defensive lineup that can disrupt the opponent’s offensive plays. Their ability to adapt and strategize mid-game has been a key factor in their victories.

Weaknesses: Consistency has been an issue for Chicago, as they have struggled to maintain momentum throughout the series. Their offense has been somewhat unpredictable, which could be a challenge against a strong team like the Maulers.

Monroeville Maulers
Current Record: 7-4

Strengths: The Maulers boast a powerful offense, with several key players consistently delivering high-scoring performances. Their teamwork and coordination on the field have been impressive, making them a formidable opponent.

Odds and Prediction
Given the current records and team dynamics, the Monroeville Maulers are likely favored to win the series. Their strong offensive capabilities and overall better record give them an edge over the Chicago Demolition. California Quakes @ Castle Rock Hounds

Series Preview: It’s an early season showdown between who appears to be the top two teams in the AL West, California and Castle Rock.
Game #1: It’s Pineiro for Castle Rock vs. Ohka for California in the opener. California gets on the board first with a 2-out RBI double from Helms, scoring Nomar. Wilkerson ties it up with an RBI single in the 4th and Dye extends it to 2-1 with a single of his own. Luis Gonzalez gets a single of his own to make it 3-1 in the 7th. In the top of the 8th, Ichiro (of all hitters) gets a solo shot to make it 3-2. But, the Castle Rock pen shuts things down from there, and the final is 3-2, Hounds.

WP: Pineiro (3-0)
LP: Ohka (0-1)
S: Benitez (2)

Game #2: This was a wild one. The Quakes had a 4-2 lead after a Nomar homer in the top of the 9th. Hoffman comes on to start the bottom of the 9th. He walks Wilkerson and then hits Dye to start it off. Placido Polanco then rips a single, but we decide to hold Wilkerson at 3rd. Bases are loaded nobody out. Luis Gonzalez gets a sac fly to score Wilkerson and get Dye to 3rd base. Adam Hyzdu pinch hits for Barrett and Hoffman throws a wild pitch that gets Polanco to second base and scores Dye. The manager pulls Hoffman mid at-bat in favor of Jorge Julio. Julio gets Hyzdu to ground out to keep it at 4-4. Julio intentionally walks Luis Gonzalez to face Mark Bellhorn, who proceeds to rip a gapper to score Polanco and give Castle Rock the improbable 5-4 victory.

WP: Fetters (1-0)
LP: Hoffman (0-2)

Game #3: California takes a 2-1 lead after two innings, thanks to a Huff homer and Davis RBI single (and HR from Bellhorn for Castle Rock). But, Castle Rock strikes back and takes a 5-2 lead, scoring four runs in the bottom of the 3rd, although three were unearned thanks to a Luis Castillo miscue. That is pretty much how things would stand as the final was 5-3, Castle Rock. They take a 3-0 series lead.

WP: Davis (2-1)
LP: Moss (1-1)
S: Benitez (3)

Game #4: I forgot to download the script for this one after playing it (didn’t have time to do write-ups when I was playing), but I do recall it being a wild one. Bonds gets injured early in the game, and is out for five days. Castle Rock also commits three errors and falls behind 4-1 after six innings. But, the Hounds come storming back with six runs in the bottom of the 7th (keyed by a Luis Gonzalez grand slam) just to see California tie it up in the top of the 8th at 7-7 off of Benitez. But, Castle Rock ekes out one run in the bottom of the 8th to take an 8-7 lead and Benitez stays on to get the win.

WP: Benitez (2-0)
LP: Borowski (0-1)

Game #5: Castle Rock jumps out to an early 6-0 lead, but the Quakes are sick and tired of losing and take their frustrations out on the Hounds in this one, ultimately winning it 11-6, destroying the Hounds bullpen. Sweeney (5 days) and Barrett (6 days) are injured for Castle Rock and Karim Garcia is out for 19 days for California. Alfonzo has four hits and Ichiro three hits for California.

WP: Julio (1-0)
LP: Fossum (0-1)

Series Summary: Castle Rock makes an early season statement, taking 4 out of 5 from the visiting Quakes.

Hampton Huskies @ Flora-Bama Mullets

Series Preview: Rumors were flowing at Pensacola stadium that Zito could be auditioning for contenders as Hampton shifted their focus on collecting more 2003 pingballs.
Game #1: Zito and Schilling both looked great through the first four innings only giving up solo homeruns to David Bell (FNA) and Derrek Lee (HAM). Unfortunately, Hampton’s defense allowed three unearned runs in the 5th. A clearly frustrated Zito was seen working on his guitar playing during the next half inning. Game #3: The Mullets batted around in the second inning to go up 7-0. Hampton rallied off Burnett in the fourth for seven runs of their own to tie it. Burnett almost got out of it at 7-3, but Wigginton’s grand slam brought out boos and chants for the “Big-Unit”. Burnett was pulled early and now has a 7.65 ERA after four starts. Berkman’s three run homer in the 6th gave the Mullets back the lead.

Flora-Bama 13-3
W – Schilling
L – Affeldt

Game #5: The Huskies had at least one runner on base every inning, but Munro managed to work out of every jam. Hunter led the way for Flora-Bama with a two run homer and the bottom of the order drove in another four runs.

Flora-Bama 6-0
