CAREER MILESTONE – FIRST TO 500!!
This past weekend (08/22/2000) Mark McGwire became the first-ever player in MWWL to reach 500 career home runs! He was able to accomplish this feat in front of a home California Quakes crowd against the Portland Mavericks. It was his 29th of the season and his 20th since being traded to California on 06/25/00.
McGwire spent the majority of his career with the Winnipeg Goldeyes from 1990 to the early part of this season. He hit an MWWL single-season record 67 home runs in the 1998 season.
A feat 30 seasons in the making, McGwire sits all alone in the club while also only being 1 of 8 players to achieve 400 home runs. Congratulations to Mark on the achievement!
