Game #1: CRH 7-10-1 / MVM 9-13-1
L-WUNSCH 2-1, vs W-JONES 2-0
7-1 Maulers going into the top of the 8th where the flood waters are released as ACEVEDO implodes after a 1,2,3 7th inning in relief of MENDOZA spoiling his stellar 6 inning 3-HIT performance to that point. The Hounds pound out 6 and tie the game at 7-7 capped by a JT SNOW GRAND SLAM. WUNSCH called on to keep it close but fails to do so as the Maulers score 2 in the bottom half of the 8th on a 2-run 2B by Jacque Jones. Maulers turn 3-DP along the way help.

Kenny Rogers continues his struggles and Scott Schoeneweis continues to baffle the odds makers with a 2 hit gem through 8. Ray King takes over in the 9th although not sure why the M-MGR chooses him with a 10-0 lead. I could use all the key innings I can get out of him this year. Anyway, the score was 3-0 MVM until the Maulers opened up with 4 in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th, no need for the closer to finish this one but that’s micro-manager sometimes. Back-to-back pitching gems by the Maulers this time a CG shutout for Jon Lieber with 9 Ks. Along with the usual offensive suspects for MVM Frank Catalanotto finally wakes up and goes deep for his 1st of the season a 3-run HR. He then takes a fastball in the rear as payback from the Hounds bullpen but no he’s worse for the wear. MVM 5-0.3B: CLAYTON (2) LOB: 4Vladimir Guerrero 2-4

3-3 after 6 as both starters scatter 7 or 8 hits a piece with limited ExBH. CRH adds the go-ahead run in the 9th and BENITEZ picks up the save for the victory. Rather uneventful offensive performances by both teams as the Hounds prevail. CRH 4-3.2B: BONDS (6)
