1995 NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
| GAME #1 – Mark Langson 12-8 (2.88) vs. Randy Johnson 22-1 (1.59)
Skeeters send Mark Langston to the hill vs. Bandits’ Randy Johnson. Johnson was on in game 1 as he hurls a 4 hit no walk shutout. Langston pitched well, 2 runs over 7 innings, but Randy was lights out. Jerome Walton delivered a big 2-run jack in the 7th to plate the games only runs. BDB 2 – SLS 0 W – Randy Johnson (1-0) |
| GAME #2 – Bret Saberhagen 11-7 (3.25) vs. Mike Birkbeck 2-1 (3.14)
Sugar Land’s Brett Saberhagen up against Mike Birkbeck in game 2. This was a back and forth nail-biter all game. Tied 1-1 after 2, Skeeters score 1 in the 3rd, and Blarney answers with 1 in the 4th. Tied 2-2 after 5 full, Bandits’ Mike Greenwell “blasts one to deep…deep to left center, over Alou’s head”, Blarney 3-2. And that’s all the scoring that would happen. Merced and Bell picked up RBI’s for Sugar Land. BDB 3 – SLS 2 W –Ricky Bottalico (1-0) |
| GAME #3 – David Wells 16-6 (3.12) vs. Wilson Alvarez 14-8 (4.52)
Back to Sugar Land for game 3 and Blarney trots out David Wells to take on Wilson Alvarez. Skeeters would score 2 runs in the 2nd to take an early lead. The Bandits would score a single run in the 4th and 2 in the 8th to take a 3-2 lead. Jeff Nelson, who finished the 8th, struggled mightily in the 9th for Sugar Land, allowing 5 more Bandits to pillage. Blarney offense led by Kevin Seitzer (2 RBI), Mike Greenwell (2-4), but the 7 team walks kept turning the lineup over. Russ Davis drove in both Skeeter runs with a long drive to left. BDB 8 – SLS 2 W – David Wells (1-0) |
| GAME #4 – Randy Johnson 22-1 (1.59) vs. Butch Henry 6-7 (4.01)
Down 3-0, Skeeter hopes fall to Butch Henry. Randy Johnson is hoping to close out the series for Blarney. Skeeters score 1 in the 3rd to take the first lead. Bandits answer right back for 2 in the 4th, 2-1 Bandits. Blarney would add 1 in the 6th to make it 3-1. After 9.1 the score would still be 3-1 as Bottalico tries to close it out for the Bandits. Sugar Land would scratch 1 in against Ricky but not enough to extend the game and series. BDB 3 – SLS 2 W -Johnson (2-0) |
| Blarney sweeps the series 4-0 to make their first World Series birth. Hitting was scarce with Bandits at .218 and Skeeters .157. |
