| Series Preview: | After sucking wind two series ago at home vs Steel City (who clobbered me at home all year) the bullpen was spent heading into last week vs the Greys which helped fuel the 1-6 beat-down, the fans responded with a good showing for the last home stand of the season. Would the Bandits respond in kind against division rival Long Beach? |
| Game #1: | Mark Clark (3-12) sharing the rosin with Blarney’s Randy Johnson (15-13). The Bandits have taped the ball to the Big Units hand all season ala “Breaking Away” style, and his 28 decisions show it.
Bandits draw first blood with 1 in the 1st. Innings 2-5 the Titans decide that Randy resembles an all-you-can-eat buffet and pummel 4 long balls to take a 7-2 lead into the 6th. The Bandit bullpen tosses zeroes until the 9th when Service and Gibson decide to roll out the dessert station where it’s a no-stoppi’n-the-toppin’s sundae bar. After 2 more triples and a dinger the game mercifully ends 12-3. Long Beach tallies 17 hits including 3 doubles 3 TRIPLES! and 5 HOMERS!! Holy freaking cow. W – Clark (4) |
| Game #2: | Jose Mesa (9-6) vs. David Wells (10-7). The crowd is buzzing early to see how the Bandits would respond to yetserday’s smack-down. Blarney draws first blood again with 1 in the bottom half of the 2nd. Scoring first against the Titans seems to bring out the Hyde in Long Beach as they plate 6 over innings 3-5. 6-3 to start the 6th innings and that’s where it would end as both pens love doughnuts. Randy Myers entered the game in the 6th and did deliver a message to Mr. Sprague in the form of a 97 heater to the helmet. Ed will be taking a couple days off.

| Game #3: | Frank Castillo (no decisions) against David Weathers (no decisions). A game, that on paper, could have gotten ugly, was relatively tame. Justice passes the homer baton to Oliver (who will decide to hog for a while) and he crushes an 8th inning 3-run tater with it. The 3-2 Blarney lead, and chance to win, evaporates with Oliver’s bomb.

The Bandits, being slow learners, draw first blood with a single run in the 2nd. What’s this? The Titans don’t score in the 3rd, WHOA. They don’t score in the 4ht either AND the Bandits score 1 in the 4th, a 2-0 lead! It all becomes clear in the 6th when Long Beach decides, “Uh, OK, it’s clobberin’ time”, and it’s quickly 4-2 Titans. Blarney tacks on 1 in the bottom half of the 6th making it 4-3. Joe Oliver mashes a 3-run homer in the top half of the 9th to make it 7-3, Randy Myers is still looking for the number of that truck. David West on to secure another Long Beach victory, he stumbles badly, but he has enough water in the tank to douse the late Bandit rally. LBT 7 BDB 6 W – Martinez (11) |

| Game #7: | It’s “all you can drink for free day” at Irish Village today. Bandit owners decided it was the only way to entice fans after a 3-week train wreck to end the season’s playoff hopes.
