Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Germantown Grays
Series Preview:	Germantown faces Manhattan to open the playoffs.

Game #1:	Germantown puts up a 5 spot in the 5th to take control of the game. Hornets Madagan 2-5 RBI 2b and Martinez 2-5 R RBI HR. Grays Jose 2-4 2R RBI W, Alomar 3-5 R 4RBI 2b, and Gagne 2-3 3R W. Frey, Guzman, Smoltz, Hernandez, Aguilera, Fetters and Montgomery pitched 4.1 innings of scoreless relief. Grays 9-2.
Game #2:	Greys score first, but the Hornets peck away at the lead. Hornets Polonia 2-5 R, Walker 3-4 R 2b Sb, and Santiage 2-3 R 2RBI HR. Hershiser 6.1IP 2R 7H 2W 8K. Harris, Jones and Gott 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. Grays Alomar 3-5 2b Sb. Hernandez, Aguilera, Frey and Wohlers pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Hornets 4-2.
After 2 Games:	Series moves to Manhatten even up. NL Division Series – Manhattan vs. Germantown. Surprise is that the series moves to Manhattan and the Gas Hornets have won a game. It’s Punch & Judy vs. Goliath but punch got one in. Can it continue?
Game #3:	Smoltz vs. Welch and a pattern developed. Every time the Gas Hornets scored 2, the Grays would come back the next inning and match it. 1st time (1st inning) Polonia walks, steals scores on a Magadan double. After a Tino single, Walker gets a SF to make it 2-0. Top of the 2nd Spanky (MacFarlane) draws a 2 out walk, so does Curtis and then Gagne drives a pea into the corner (who knew a pea could go that far) scoring both runners. Bottom of the 5th – Welch doubles but Jose misplays it and Welch never stopped running until he crossed the plate!! 2 batters later (with 2 outs) Huson drops one just past the flag pole for a solo homer (1) and it’s 4-2 Manhattan. BUT, top of the 6th 2 outs and Caminiti walks (oh, those walks). Spanky steps in and hits one to left that just kept going and it goes over the wall for a 2 run, tying homer run (1). Well the pitchers decided to stop making mistakes. Welch goes 7 then turns it over to Doug Jones. Jones goes 3, faces 9, fans 4. Frey comes in in the 7th and goes 1.1 scoreless innings. He turns it over to Hernandez in the 9th. Game score at the end of 9 is still 4-4. 11th inning, Howe comes in to pitch and gives up a lead-off walk to Caminiti. Spanky up (ugh) and Howe unloads a wild pitch. Caminiti to 2nd. Spanky lays down the bunt, Caminiti to 3rd. Chad Curtis up, infield in, Caminiti breaks for home, the suicide squeeze is on. Curtis bunts it toward 2nd, Howe gets it, looks home, fires there and Caminiti is out!! Wilkerson up and he misses the first pitch as Curtis heads for 2nd Santiago nails him for the 3rd out. Odd inning, no runs, 3 batters. Bottom half, Alicea gets a 1 out single. Schofield in to run. Walker can’t connect on the pitch but Schofield is running and he’s safe at 2nd on a SB. So Hernandez is given the signal to walk Walker. McReynolds up, 2 out, runners on 1st and 2nd and he rips one to left center. Jose races over and the runners just run, the ball was deep in the gap and Schofield beats the throw home and Gas Hornets pull off the win in 11. – SURPRISE! GER 4-5-2 LP Hernandez (0-1) 11 innings MGH 5-9-0 WP Howe (1-0)
Game #4:	OK – Gas Hornets find themselves with the chance to end the series and do it at home! Germantown sends Keven Appier to the mound to keep things alive and send the series home. Manhattan goes with Dave Stewart. Well when Goliath wins games, it’s not close. Game 1 was a 9-2 shellacking where Appier started and left in the 5th to be ready for today. In this game the giant whacked 11 hits including 2 triples (Thomas and Sanders), 2 doubles (Spanky and Gagne) and a 2 run Shane Mack homer (2). In the process they plated 2 in the 2nd and 4 in the 3rd – oh and another 3 in the 6th. Appier – well he went 5.2 giving up 5 hits a run, fanning 6. Frey and Aguilera go 3.1 giving up 2 more hits and the Grays tie up the series with a BIG 9-1 win! GER 9-11-0 WP Appier (1-0) MGH 1- 8-2 LP Stewart (0-1)
After 4 Games:	So the series is tied up 2-2 and returns to Germantown. The Gas Hornets will hang their hopes on Jack Morris who got bombed in game 1. The Grays will counter with their big bats!!!!!!! The Manhatten/Germantown series goes to the wire. Game 5 is in Germantown.
Game #5:	Germantown puts the game away with a 5 spot in the 7th. Hornets Santiago 2-3 2b. Patterson and Harris pitched 2.2 IP of scoreless relief. Grays Jose 3-5 R RBI, Thomas 2-4 RBI W, Mack 2-4 R 3RBI 2b SF, Sanders 2-4 R RBI W and Alomar 1-3 3R RBI HBP 2Sb. Morgan 6IP 1R 4H 3W 2K. Hernadez, Guzman, Wohlers, Fetters and Montgomery pitched 3 IP scoreless relief. Grays 10-1.
Series Summary:	Grays hitters came alive at the end of the series to send Germantown to the League Championship series.
