Series Summary:	A fun series to play. Fort Worth is clicking on all cylinders as the season winds down. Vegas has them as a 1-1 favorite for the AL pennant (3-2 to win it all).

California Quakes @ Flossmoor Flying Squirrels
Series Preview:	Flossmoor welcomes the Quakes to town for a five game set.
Game #1:	California gets an unearned run in the first and that’s enough for Harnisch who tosses a complete game shutout. California wins 3-0.
Game #2:	Tight game but the Squirrels hold on for a 3-2 win.
Game #3:	It’s a 1-1 game until the bottom of the 7th when Flossmoor breaks through for four runs. They add another in the 8th to win it 6-1.
Game #4:	It’s tied at one to the 7th inning again. Quakes take the lead 2-1 in the top of the inning, but Flossmoor answers with five in the bottom half and go on to win it 6-1.
Game #5:	Quakes take a 4-1 lead on a pair of two run homers, but Puckett ties it in the 5th with a 3 run bomb. It’s 5-5 to the bottom of the 6th when the Squirrels plate three to take the lead 8-5. They hang on for an 8-6 win.
Series Summary:	Flossmoor continues their push towards the playoffs by taking four out of five against California.

Sugar Land Skeeters @ Manhattan Gas Hornets
Series Preview:	Gas Hornets host the skeeters and hope to do well. Rematch with Missouri coming up – AT MISSOURI AGAIN – and hope not to repeat that disaster. So not looking ahead, hoping to build. But, despite weak pitching, Skeeters have some offensive power.
Game #1:	One guy the Gas Hornets would like to see on the DL is Mark Langston – he kills us. And again he does not disappoint the Sugar Land faithful as he tosses a 4 hit, 10K CG shutout. Daulton homers (16) in the 6th to provide the only run of the game. Langston moves to 12-12. Pichardo (3-6) the tough loss.
Game #2:	With 4-2 lead in the 9th, Jones fails to holds the lead and gets his 8th Blown Save as Skeeter score 2 to tie and they do it on a Griffey homer (22). Welch not thrilled after great outing. But Gas Hornets come back and get the game winner in the 10th for 5-4 win. Jones (8-8) gets the win, Magnante the loss (5-6). Tino hits one out (8). BIG NEWS – Daulton gets HBP and will miss the next 3 – that might be a good thing for Manhattan.
Game #3:	Up 3-1 going into the bottom of the 6th, the Gas Hornets knock in 7 runs to seal the deal. Stewart and 2 relievers give up 3 hits – Griffey drives in both Skeeters runs iwth double and SF. Final 10-2 Manhattan, Stewart (11-11) the win, Aquino (4-8) the loss.
Game #4:	Jack Morris (13-6) goes the distance scattering 5 hits and gets 3 run homer from Kelly (2) as part of the 5 run offense and cruises to 5-0 win. Pags gets 2 of the Skeeters hits. Henry (7-14) the loss.
Game #5:	Hershiser (13-10) tried to match Morris’s feat, but gives up a solo HR (9) to Bell in the 9th. Kelly again homers for Gas Hornets (3) – 2 run shot, and McReynolds follows him with his 6th (1 of 3 hits) as Manhattan takes this one 5-1. Abbott (0-1) gets the loss.
Game #6:	Two things happen here – Langston starts again and Daulton returns from injury. And it’s 1-0 AGAIN – well not quite, the final was 4-3 (that’s equivalent). Langston has now won 4 of his 5 starts against the Gas Hornets this year with a ND in the other. AND all the scoring was in the 1st. The 4 Skeeter runs came from the 1st 6 hitters – with a 2 run triple from White a key hit. Gas Hornets responded with 3 in the bottom half including a 2 run Yount double. Then J.Jones (6-6) and Langston (13-12) hunkered down. Nelson pitched the 9th for the save (2).
Game #7:	In the finale, the Gas Hornets got 1 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd (another Kelly 2 run homer [4, 3 of them this week]). Up 4-1 going into the 6th, Reed (11-3) sticks in there and Daulton takes him deep (17) for a 2 run homer to bring it to 4-2, but Manhattan gets 1 back in the 7th and Jones actually holds it in the 9th for the save (27) as Gas Hornets win the finale 5-3. Tapani takes the loss (11-11)
Series Summary:	Manhattan manages to win 5 to 2 for the Skeeters. The Skeeters will be force to reckon with soon…. Missouri on the road next week … big series. Skeeters home to host Valdosta.

Missouri Black Bears @ Steel City Sluggers
Series Summary:	Steel City trades away their best pitchers and hitters. And then starts playing better ball. Go figure. Sluggers take 3 of 5 from 2nd place Missouri.

Valdosta Bombers @ Michigan Marauders
Series Preview:	Valdosta comes to Michigan in a N.L. East matchup.
Game #1:	Michigan 3 Valdosta 2 (10) Chris Hoiles hits a walkoff homer to win the game for the Mauraders. Dan Plesac with a solid 2 innings in relief gets the win. Reardon gets the loss and drops to 0-3.
Game #2:	Michigan 7 Valdosta 0 Scott Sanderson throws a 2-hit gem. He wins his 1st game of the year. Brosius with a homer and 3 RBIs. Bret Boone knocks in 3 runs.
Game #3:	Valdosta 3 Michigan 2 (11) Steve Finley with 3 hits. Sampen gets the win in relief. Franco with his 18th save. Boone with a homer in relief.
Game #4:	Valdosta 3 Michigan 2 Valdosta ties the series. Mike Moore wins his 4th game. Brantley picks up his 4th save. Pagnozzi with a 2 run homer.
Game #5:	Michigan 3 Valdosta 2 Kamienicki with a well pitched game. Guthrie blows the save, but gets the win. Brady Anderson with the walkoff homer. Finley and Sax with 2 hits for the Bombers.
Game #6:	Michigan 3 Valdosta 0 Frank Tanana throws a 4-hitter and earns his 5th win. Juan Samuel with 2 hits.
Game #7:	Valdosta 4 Michigan 3 (10) Manny Lee with 3 hits for Valdosta. Wallach with a homer. Quantrill gets the win in relief. Franco saves his 19th game. Guthrie with a loss in relief.
Series Summary:	Michigan narrowly wins the series, 4 games to 3.

Mexico City Chihuahuas @ Portland Mavericks
Series Preview:	First place Mexico City Chihuahuas visit the Portland Mavericks. The Mavs are 5.5 games back, with just 28 games remaining. Both teams have to content with the Charging Flossmoor Flying Squires, who won 4-5 in this week’s series and were just 1.5 games back starting the week.
Game #1:	Hill (Por) vs Chiamparino (MEX) Chiamparino dominates the game pitching a complete game shutout. Hill wasn’t bad either, but the Dogs get the 2-0 win.
Game #2:	Swindell (POR) vs Hough (MEX) Ditto. This time is team shutout for Mexico City as the Mavs take an unfortunate time to let their hitting go on vacation.
Game #3:	Fleming (POR) vs McDonald (MEX) It must be something in the air in Portland causing shutouts… like RAIN. This time it is Portland with the shutout in the 3-0 win.
Game #4:	Avery (POR) vs Fernandez (MEX) This one was close until the 8th when Mexico city breaks out and cruises to the 6-1 win.
Game #5:	Castillo (POR) vs Bosio (MEX) Mexico City wins the bard burner 3-2.
Game #6:	Hill (POR) vs Darwin (MEX) All Portland in this one as they win 4-0.
Game #7:	Swindell (POR) vs Hough (MEX) Mexico City gets 3 runs in the 11th inning to win a thriller 7-4.
Series Summary:	The hot dogs from Mexico City stick a fork in the Mavericks in 1992, winning the series 5-2. They maintain a slim lead over the Squirrels in the AL West.

Blarney Drive Bandits @ Germantown Grays
Series Preview:	Germantown took it on the nose last series to an upgraded Titans line-up. The Grays host the Bandits at home this week.
Game #1:	Grays take it out on the Bandits plating 11 in the 1st. Bandits Smith pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief. Grays Mack went 5-6 4R 7RBI 2HR, Alomar 4-53R RBI 2b W, Thomas 3-4 5R 3RBI HR 2W, Jose 2-4 2R RBI, Sanders 2-3 2R 2RBI, Caminiti 2-3 R RBI 2b, Gagne 2-3 R 3RBI 2b. Grays 23-2

Series Summary:	Bandits take the middle game. Grays take on the Missouri Black Bears next week before facing off to determine the division pennant winner.

Winnipeg Goldeyes @ Long Beach Titans
Series Preview:	Long Beach hosts first place Winnipeg hoping to gain some ground.
Game #1:	Winnipeg got consecutive run scoring hits by Nixon, Lofton & Roberts in the 4th to give the Goldeyes a 3-1 win. Darling gave up just 3 hits in 7 innings to pick up the victory.
Game #2:	Winnipeg scored 2 runs in the 8th and won 3-2. The winning run scored on a groundout by Devereaux. Benes pitched 7 strong innings and improved to 16-6.
Game #3:	McGwire broke a 1-1 tie in the 13th with a run scoring single and Winnipeg won another close game 2-1.
Game #4:	Martinez took a no hitter into the 6th when Nixon broke it up. The next batter Lofton walked and Roberts followed with a 2 run 2B for a 2-run lead. Winnipeg added 2 runs in the 9th and won 4-1. Candiotti picked up the win and improved to 12-6.
Game #5:	Long Beach finally picked up a win as Viola threw a 7-hit shutout, picking up his 15th win of the season, in the 4-0 win.
Game #6:	Ventura had 3 hits and drove in a run in Winnipeg’s 3-2 win. Darling only gave up 1 run in 7+ innings and the bullpen held on stranding the tying run at 3rd in the bottom of the 9th.
Game #7:	Winnipeg got HRs from Ventura, McGwire & Benes in their 9-5 win. Benes won his 17th. Reimer had 2 HRs and 4 RBI in a losing cause.
Series Summary:	Winnipeg took 6 of the 7 games and now Long Beach has to try and hold onto the 2nd wild card.

Janesville Juggernauts @ Detroit Stars
Series Summary:	Detroit wins the series 6 games to 1.

Series Preview:	CHI @ STO for a 7 game series. Stockton looking to lock up a playoff spot, Chicago playing out the string.
Game #1:	STO 6 – CHI 2 WP: Mussina (CG) LP: B. Williams HR: STO–L. Walker, C. Snyder STO shrugs off an early 3-0 CHI lead with late HRs by Walker and Snyder. Mussina calmed down to go the distance.
Game #2:	STO 16 – CHI 1 WP: Drabek LP: Whitehurst HR: STO–Grissom, Hayes STO rides a 10-run 4th inning to an easy win.
Game #3:	STO 6 – CHI 4 WP: Eckersley LP: Clemens (CG) HR: STO–L. Walker, Hrbek STO wins another one on late inning HRs after Eckersley blows the save.
Game #4:	STO 8 – CHI 1 WP: Ojeda LP: Witt HR: STO–L. Walker, Tettleton, Anthony; CHI–Carter It’s all STO as Ojeda keeps making his case for Cy Young votes. STO offense gives away some curly fries.

Game #7:	CHI 3 – STO 1 WP: Whitehurst LP: Drabek SV: T. Burns HR: STO–Hrbek WHitehurst salvages a game for CHI in the finale. Former Wing Jeff King goes 2-4 with a run and an RBI.
Series Summary:	STO takes the series 6 games to 1. Mussina had two CG wins for STO. STO had 10 HRs in the series, three by Larry Walker, and two each for Kent Hrbek and Eric Anthony.
