Missouri is breathing. |
| Game #1: | Gas Hornets win a bunch, but few of them easily, this game no exception. They take a 2-1 lead in the 2nd, but Gaetti ties it with his 9th homer in the 3rd. Reed holds tough and the home team gets another run in the 7th for a 1 run lead that Howe, Harris and D.Jones make stand. MIC 2-7-0 LP Powell (3-3) MGH 3-4-1 WP Reed (9-3) S D.Jones (26) |
| Game #2: | This game was another tough one. Up 2-0 after 5, Orsulak drives in 1 in the 6th and another in the 8th to tie the game, Patterson not able to hold it for Welch and gets a blown save (1). MIC 2- 4-0 LP Plesac (4-6) MGH 3-10-3 WP Patterson (2-1) |
| Game #3: | Alright, an easy win. 2 run homer (16) for Palmeiro in the 2nd is matched by 2 Gas Hornets runs in the bottom half. But then it becomes a one-sided, lopsided game for the Mauraders centered around a 4 run 7th. Batista pitches the last 3 for his 1st save. MIC 9-9-0 WP Tanana (4-9) S Batista (1) MGH 2-6-2 LP Stewart (10-11) |
| Game #4: | Back to the toughie games – but it didn’t have to be. Gas Hornets up 5-0 after 3 and 6-2 after 7. BUT … 3 Mauraders hits, 3 Gas Hornets errors and 4 runs score and it’s 6-6 after 8. MIC 6- 7-2 LP Guthrie MGH 7-10-4 WP D.Jones (5-6) BS Howe (2) |
| Game #5: | Ripken begins atonement for game 4 error with a 2 run homer (9) in the 2nd. But an 11 batter, 5 run 5th was more than enough to carry the Gas Hornets to victory. Hershiser gets 3 hits and the win. NO ERRORS IN GAME. MIC 2- 4-0 LP Sanderson (0-5) MGH 6-15-0 WP Hershiser (12-10) |
| Game #6: | Another 3-2 game, this one a comeback win from the Mauraders. Magadan drives in 2 in the 2nd but Michigan chips away with runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th to scratch out a 3-2 win. Henneman shuts down any chance for comeback and Borders nails Huson twice trying to swipe bases. MIC 3-9-1 WP Sutcliffe (2-10) S Henneman (10) |
| Game #7: | Gas Hornets wanted a stress free game (and a win) and they got it in this one. After giving up run in the 1st (on a play where Palmeiro tripped grounding out to 1st and driving in the run and leaving the game) they began to fire back. 2 in the 1st, 3 in the 4t and 3 more in the 8th giving R.Reed an easy day. MIC 1 – 5-2 LP Kamieniecki (9-9) MGH 8-14-0 WP R.Reed (10-3) |
| Series Summary: | Gas Hornets pull out a 5-2 series win, but it wasn’t a cake walk. Michigan looking to play spoiler for someone. Watching the out of town scoreboard sees the Gas Hornets lead climb back a bit to 6 games, but September will be fun month. Michigan goes to Steel City and the Gas Hornets host Sugar Land next week. |
