Game #5:	More what I anticipated the series to be. Grays jump out 5-2 after 3 to give up the lead when the Gas Hornets put up a 4 spot in the 4th. Grays come back with 5 more in the next two innings and the Gas Hornets cannot catch up. Gas Hornets Felder 2-4 R 2RBI W, Schofield 3-5 2RBI R, Santiago 2-5, and Martinez 2-4 R RBI W. Grays Alomar 3-4 3R RBI 2b W, Jose 3-5 2R 2RBI 2b, Varsho 3-4 R 3RBI and Myers 2-4 R RBI 2b. Grays 10-8
Summary	Grays squeak out a bunch of games yet again sweeping the series. There were a number of notable 1 game pitching efforts (Petry, Hermandez, Edens, Mulholland). However, the 1 through 3 hitters ofthe Grays stole the series. Alomar 9-23 (.391) 7R RBI 3-2b 2W Sb, Jose 10-24 (.417) 4R 4RBI 2-2b W and Thomas 7-19 (.368) 5R 2RBI 5-2b 6W. Myers down in the order was no slouch either 7-16 (.438) 2R 4RBI 2-2b.

Steel City Sluggers @ Sugar Land Skeeters
Preview	Two playoff hopefuls in the National League square off as Steel City visits West Division leader Sugar Land.
Game #1:	Steel City blasts three homers, including Sabo’s three-run bomb, to back eight shutout innings by Dennis Martinez as Steel City stops Sugar Land’s nine-game winning streak, 6-0.
Game #2:	Steel City manages only four hits against Langston and the Skeeters’ bullpen and can’t hold a 2-1 lead as Sugar Land rallies for the 3-2 win. Howe gets the save, his 22nd.
Game #3:	It gets worse for Steel City as they can only manage 3 hits as Hesketh and the pen shut them out, 2-0.
Game #4:	Steel CIty whacks four homers, including Sandberg’s 2-run shot (3 RBI), as they coast to a 7-2 win.
Game #5:	Langston goes the distance allowing no earned runs as Sugar Land wins, 2-1.
Summary	Sugar Land wins three of five despite being outscored 16-9.

California Quakes @ Chicago Demolition
Preview	AL East first place Quakes head east to take on last place Chicago
Game #1:	Game 1 Saberhagen vs. Holman CAL – 1 CHI – 2 W – B. Holman (6-7) L – B. Saberhagen (11-3) SB – Molitor (3), O’Neill CS – Pendleton, Gallego Holman wins the pitchers’ duel, giving up only 1 unearned run. Boggs gets the 2 RBI double to put Chicago on top.
Game #2:	Harnisch vs. Whitehurst CAL – 4 CHI – 0 W – P. Harnisch (12-4) L – W. Whitehurst (2-7) HR – L. Whitaker, H. Johnson SB – H. Johnson (2), E. Davis Caps win behind great pitching and late-inning hitting, scoring 3 runs in the 8th and 9th innings.
Game #3:	Ryan vs. Higuera CAL – 7 CHI – 0 W – N. Ryan (11-2) L – T. Higuera (1-3) HR – J. Canseco, H. Johnson SB – P. Molitor, J. Canseco, C. Quintana Nolan Ryan does what he does and pitches the Quakes’ first No-Hitter! Canseco and HoJo continue their HR derby.
Game #4:	Gordon vs. Clemens CAL – 5 CHI – 0 W – T. Gordon (8-2) L – R. Clemens (6-9) HR – H. Johnson California pitches its third shutout in a row, not much Chicago can do.
Game #5:	Harris vs. Scudder CAL – 3 CHI – 1 W – G. Harris (6-3) L – S. Scudder (0-9) S – B. Harvey (22) HR – H. Johnson, M. Gallego SB – L. Whitaker, P. Molitor, P. O’Neill, O. Smith CS – J. Canseco Another strong pitching performance, while Cali posts four more SBs for a total of 13 in five games.
Game #6:	Saberhagen vs. Hershiser CAL – 2 CHI – 1 W – B. Saberhagen (12-3) L – O. Hershiser (6-4) S – B. Harvey (23) SB – P. Molitor, J. Canseco, O. Smith, E. Davis CS – P. Molitor, M. Gallego Close game between two of the best pitchers in the game. Saberhagen got the best of Hershiser in this one.
Game #7:	Harnisch vs. Holman CAL – 5 CHI –3 W – P. Harnisch (13-4) L – B. Holman (6-8) S – B. Harvey (24) SB – T. Phillips, J. Canseco, T. Pendleton, O. Smith CS – P. Molitor, O. Smith The Quakes jump out to an early lead with a 4-run 2nd, and hold on behind solid pitching once again.
Summary	California takes 6 of 7 against Chicago.

Game #3:	Dan Plesac and Jim Key each give up only 1 run. Michigan wins it in the 11th inning as Rafael Palmeiro hits a double. Henneman pitches 3 innings to earn the win, and Trevor Gott takes the loss. Michigan 2 Missouri 1 (11)
Game #4:	Missouri hits 3 homers to lead the Black Bears to a victory. Sierra, Williams, and Sveum hit the homers. Palmeiro with 3 hits for Michigan. Missouri 6 Michigan 3
Game #5:	Jack Morris pitches a complete game to lead the Black Bears to the win. Matt Williams and Pete O’Brien hit homers. Palmeiro hits a homer for Michigan. Missouri 5 Michigan 3
Game #6:	Darrin Jackson hits his 20th homer. Chris Hoiles and Brady Anderson hit bombs as well. Michigan 6 Missouri 4
Game #7:	Jim Deshaies tosses a 4 hit shutout and Michigan wins the series. Juan Samuel has 3 hits. Deshaies is now 6-7. Michigan 7 Missouri 0
Summary	Good series. Michigan wins 4 of 7 against Missouri.

Mexico City Chihuahuas @ Portland Mavericks
Preview	Mexico City come to Portland to visit the Mavericks.
Game #1:	Doc Gooden 4-7 3.43 MEX vs Frank Castillo 3-1 4.20 POR Portland escapes with a 6-5 win in 11 innings in a back and forth game.
Game #2:	Ben McDonald 5-6 MEX 3.87 vs Greg Swindell 8-5 3.36 POR Another barnburner with the Chihuahuas evening the score in the 9th, but Portland gets one back in the bottom of the inning to win it 5-4.
Game #3:	Roy Smith 1-1 4.32 MEX vs Mike Moore 8-6 4.65 POR Mexico City clobbers the A starter Moore, who has struggled all season. Moore gives up 14 hits and 7 runs before getting yanked in the 7th. Portland meanwhile, gets shut down by Smith managing just one run. Once smith advances to a C, Portland gets some runs, adding three in the bottom of the 7th to creep within 3 at 7-4. Portland gets two more in the bottom of the 8th before Smith hits the showers. In the bottom of the 9th with two outs, rookie Chuck Knoblauch belts one to right… and it is JUST foul. He steps back in to pop out and give Mexico City the 7-6 win. Three straight one run games!
Game #4:	Game #4 Danny Darwin 2-7 5.37 MEX vs Steve Avery 7-5 3.13 POR No team is willing to score more than one run an inning in this game… but Portland gets five 1-run innings to Mexico City’s one.
Game #5:	Game #5 Chris Bosio 11-4 MEX 3.08 vs Louis Aquino 5-1 2.19 POR Bosio shows what the Chihuahuas can do with a little starting pitching. This game is the game of twos… two the Chihuahuas getting two in three innings, to Portland one.. in the 6-2 Mexico City win.
Game #6:	Game #6 Doc Gooden 4-7 3.34 MEX vs Charlie Hough 7-6 3.84 POR Charlie Hough comes back after missing quite a few games with an injury for Portland… and he is itchy for some reason (guess he didn’t get any rehab pitching). Hough has a Rough first inning giving up 8 runs! LOL whoa nelly this will be a long one for Portland. Before Hough can get off the mound the Chihuahuas tear him up… and he gives up a whopping 12 runs. The Chihuahuas might have even done some leg lifting… some marking or their territory so to speak, on Hough. Mexico City sends Portland to an embarrassing 12-3 loss on their home field.
Game #7:	Game #7 Ben McDonald 5-6 4.07 vs Frank Castillo 3-1 4.17 Briley starts are short for the Hot Dogs who might want to add another SS on the roster. (and I mean Hot Dogs as a complement… they ripped Portland apart last game) The Chihuahuas score first, but Portland answers back with eight runs in the bottom of the third to take an 8-1 lead. Castillo goes coast to coast for Portland who get the 9-3 win.
Summary	Portland wins a close series 4-3. Portland stand s at 56-42, while Mexico City is at 40-56.

Long Beach Titans @ Winnipeg Goldeyes
Preview	Winnipeg is in the hunt for the playoffs but in the leagues toughest division. The team is is the last Place3 Long Beach Titans. Who in any other division would be above .500 and playing in 3rd place. Instead they arte playing .460 ball dispite very good hitting and solid pitching.
Game #1:	Candiotti was solid 6 innings 1 earned run for Winnipeg. McGuire hit a bit 3 run homer for Winnipeg as Lancaster got hity hard. WIN 8 LBT 4 W_Candiotti(11-3) S-Willis(11) L-Lancaster(7-5)
Game #2:	Downing homered and Glavine throws a 4 hitter as Winnipeg wins 2-0. W-Glavine(12-6) L-Nichols(2-1)
Game #3:	Guzman ran into control problems walking 5 in 5.2 innings. Benes was ok 3 in 6 but Freeman win 2.2 tough innings of relief for the save. Win5 LBT 3 W_Benes(11-4) S-Freeman(11) L-Guzman(8-8) only homer Baerga LBT.
Game #4:	Stottlemeyer blew it in relief as Navarro was great.LBT Justice doubled, singled and homered in the win. LBT 4 WPG 3 W_Navarro(9-3) S-Ward(20) L-Stottlemyer(8-5)
Game #5:	Downing hitsa 2 run homer and Candiotti was great pitching a 4 hitter. WPG 2 LBT 0 W-Candiotti(12-3) L-Tomlin 5-9
Game #6:	Kile getting a spot start had a no hitter into the 7th but blew a 2-0 lead with a homer by Oliver with 2 out in the 9th, Winnipeg battled back off Swan in the 10th and got the win for the pen. WPG 3 LBT 2 W-Willis(6-4) L-Swan(2-0)
Game #7:	Fielder and Vaughn ruined Glavines start as LBT wins 4-2.W-Nichols(3-1) S-Ward(21) L-Glavine(12-7)
Summary	Winnipeg manages to win 5 of the 7 games vs a very good L ng Beach team.Winnipeg is at home again next week vs the 1st place Grays but are 4.5 games back hoping to trim the lead a bit. Pitcher of the week Candiotti 2-0 1 earned run in 15 innings
