1988 PREDICTIONS

Jarl Jackson’s Crystal Ball Predictions for the 1988 Mid-West Baseball League Season.

1987Pre-View

In the American League Chicago should easily win the East while California and Ft. Worth battle it out for a chance at the last wildcard spot.  In the West any of the top 3 teams (Old Mill, Cedar Park, or Mexico City) could win the division and quite possibly the two that don’t will still make the playoffs as the wildcards.  Detroit is not too far off in the playoff hunt and could easily sneak in.

In the National League the race will be even tighter in the NL West where it should be the last MWWL division to decide a winner. The NL east will be a two team race between Michigan and Missouri.

I see 7 teams in the AL with playoff potential while only 5 teams in the NL with playoff potential. On paper it looks like the final four will be Chicago, Old Mill, Michigan, and Steel City, but I’m going to go with an upset in the AL as Cedar Park will make it to the World Series to face Michigan, where the Bears maul the Mauraders in 6 games.
