Series Preview

Winnipeg has the second worst record in the league and now they had to face Germantown a team a team playing above .500 with excellent hitting but weak pitching. The last time they met McGuire destroyed the young but not good Winnipeg pitching.
It was a weird schedule as it was 7 games in 7 days but had a double header and an off day.

Game #1:

Winnipeg sent slop baller Jamie Moyer(5-11) out to face Rick Aguilara (5-3). Rick did not have it as Winnipeg batted around in the first scoring 7 runs. Winnipeg held on for the 10-5 win. Perry had the big game for Winnipeg going 3 for 3 with a homer, 3 steals 4 rbis and 3 runs scored. McGuire homered in the losing cause. WPG 10 GER 5

Game #2:

It was little Johnny Rays night going 5 for 6 and just missed the triple for the cycle. Daulton went 4 for 4 as well. Guzman pitched a 5 hit shutout for the easy 11-0 win.

Game #3:

Not much hitting in this one as Morgon pitched well beating Bosio who was upgraded in the game. Germantown 3 Winnipeg 2

Game #4:

Winnipeg after the off day asked Hayben to start as he needed to get to his 45% use level. He did great just 3 runs in 7 innings a McGuire 2 run homer. Ruess didn’t have it as Glenn Wilson, Valle, Brookens and Hullett got 10 hits.. Winnipeg 6 Germantown 3

Game #6:

Double header game 1) Aguilera was great this time and Brower git two homers to total 3 in the series. Germantown 5 Winnipeg 1

Game #7:

So the Series was split and now it was second half of a double header. Ed Whitson was great complete game win as Winnipeg 4 Germantown 3 as old man Murphy took Guzman deep.

Series Summary *

Winnipeg is very happy to have won the series, and that game five seven run comeback was something else giving our future ace Tom Glavine his first win.

Game #7:

Blyleven throws a three-hit shutout.

Missouri wins the first three but Sugar Land comes back to win the last four to take the series four games to three.

Series Preview

First place Gas Hornets travel to last place Clovis for a 5 game set.

Game #1:

Key tosses 2 hit shutout for 4-0 Manhattan victory.

Game #2:

Jacoby knocks in 5 while blasting his 28 HR as Gas Hornets cruise to 12-4 win.

Game #3:

Yount knocks in winner in the 10th with FC after flubbed double play. Manhattan 6-5.

Game #4:

Joyner’s 3 RBI and Sax homer lead Gas Hornets to easy 11-6 win.

Game #5:

Zane Smith bookends Jimmy Key‘s 4-0 shutout win with one if his own as he scatters 7 hits while striking out 10.

Series Summary *

Just what you would expect when a very good first place team faces a very bad last place team, Manhattan sweeps 5 from Clovis.

Series Preview

Old Mill plays host to Detroit in a 7 game series.

Game #1:

Detroit wins 9-2. DeLeon tosses a complete game and Vince coleman has 3 RBIs.

Game #2:

Detroit wins 2-1. Gubicza gets the win and Thigpen the save. Rice has a HR and 2 RBIs.

Game #3:

Stars win 7-5. Uribe hits a 3 run bomb in the 7th and that was the difference.

Game #4:

Legends win 8-7 as they get RBIs from 7 different players. Burke picks up save #22.

Game #5:

Detroit wins 2-1 as Guidry goes the distance.

Game #6:

Detroit wins 5-0 as DeLeon throws a complete game shut out.

Game #7:

Stars close out the series with a 6-5 win in 15 innings.

Series Summary *

Stars win 6 of 7.

·         Michigan Marauders @ Long Beach Titans

Game #1:

Long Beach took a 5-4 lead into the 9th when Brunansky and Gaetti went back to back to give Michigan a 6-5 win. For both guys it was their 2nd HR of the game.

Game #2:

Michigan used the long ball again. In the 6th Long Beach had a 2-0 lead before Hall hit a 2 run HR to tie the game. Gaetti hit a solo shot in the 7th. The Mauraders bullpen did the rest in the 3-2 win.

Game #3:

Davis HR in the 7th to give Michigan a 1-0 lead. Mattingly put Long Beach ahead when he hit a 2 run bomb in the 8th.

Game #4:

This was a wild back and forth game. Michigan had a 5-4 lead in the 6th when Mattingly singled in 2 runs. Nokes tied it in the 7th with his 2nd HR of the game. Long Beach won it in the bottom of the 9th when Trillo hit a walk off 1B.

Game #5:

Michigan took a 6-3 lead in the 7th on a Nokes 2 run 3B and a Davis 2 run HR. Mattingly hit a 2 run HR in the bottom of the inning. Michigan added 2 more in the 8th to make the final 8-5.

Michigan took 3 of the 5 games. Gaetti was the hitting star with 5 HRs

Steel City swings in to town riding a 10 game winning streak.

Game #1:

Valdosta 4-2. Bob Forsch (8-5) was too much for the Sluggers. John Franco earned save #18.

Game #2:

Valdosta 1-0. A great pitchers duel between Charlie Hough (11-7) and Pascual “I-285” Perez (2-4) who both went the distance. The lone run scored on a 2 out RBI 1B by Charlie Hough.

Game #3:

Valdosta 3-0. Once again the Bombers get a CG shutout, this time from Mike LaCoss (7-4, 2.27).

Game #4:

Steel City 7-3. Dennis Martinez (9-5) was pretty sharp and he got help from HR’s by Dave Henderson (5) and Schmidt (22).

Game #5:

Valdosta 4-1. Tom Candiotti made his first start in 2 weeks and it was a good one as he goes 6 IP and allowed just 1 run. Franco collected his 19th save of the year.

Series Summary *

The Bombers get some much needed wins as they try and make up some ground in the wildcard race. Steel City stays in 2nd place in the West.

Rivals from different American League Divisions match up for a quick five game set.

Game #1:

Chicago scores 3 in the 1st , but Mexico City chips back and wins it.
Final Score: Mexico City 7 – Chicago 5

Game #2:

A pitchers duel tied at one after 8 innings, Mexico City scores 1 in the 9th.
Final Score: Mexico City 2 – Chicago 1

Game #3:

Chicago finds their hitting shoes and puts a hurting on the Chihuahuas. Wade Boggs & Von Hayes both have 4 RBI’s.

Game #4:

Barry Bonds is a single shy of the cycle and drives in 3 RBI’s for Mexico City. Sid Fernandez (6-10 4.97) goes the distance for the visiting team.

A seven run 4th inning is more than enough for the Demolition as Orel Hershiser (13-6 3.50) goes 7 solid for the home team.
