| Game #1: | Pedro Astacio makes his debut for Dondero and goes 7 innings giving up 1 earned to start the series off with a win for the Oaks. Jay Gibbons hit a home run while Brian Roberts collected 3 hits and an RBI. For Harper Woods, Todd Helton got the series off on the right note with a home run himself but it wasn’t enough.

| Game #2: | A winning streak has somehow begun for Dondero. Kevin Jarvis gave up a run in the 1st to Harper Woods thanks to Bill Mueller but after that, Harper Woods would not score again. The bullpen went 2.1 allowing just 1 hit and a walk. On the flip side the offense saw John Vander Wal and Deivi Cruz each come up with 2 hits and 3 RBI combined. Harper Woods has yet to really get out of the gate and timely hitting by the Oaks is helping turn things around.

| Game #3: | For the 2nd game in a row Harper Woods got out to a good start. Bases loaded and no one out, yet they managed to only get 1 across the board and then it was all Paul Wilson for Dondero on the mound. He settled in and managed to throw a complete game giving up just the 1 run on 4 hits and 5 walks but struck out 8. In the 3rd with their own bases loaded situation Jose Valentin roped a 3 run triple and the game was in hand from there on out. Raul Ibanez also got in the action with a 2 run home run in the 6th. Kerry Wood got his first loss of the season, which guarantees Dondero at least a split in the series.

| Game #4: | Harper Woods came out swinging and were up 5-1 through 4 but then…the rains came in.

| Game #5: | Before the rain washed out game 4, it was a sign of things to come the rest of the series. Harper Woods finally got in the winning column officially thanks to a stellar performance from Blake Stein. He went 7 scoreless with 6 punchouts. The Dondero bats were silenced, and the pitching was just fine until the 8th. With the bases loaded and a 1-0 lead Harper Woods got a 3 run double from Marquis Grissom which gave him 4 RBI on the day. This put the game away for good.

| Game #6: | The final game of the series brought us a 2nd matchup of Washburn v. Astacio. Washburn gave up 2 in the 2nd and Astacio was rolling through 3. However, the game flipped in the 4th when he gave up 6 runs over the next two innings. This included another big hit by Marquis Grissom with a 2 run triple and a 2 run home run from Endy Chavez. Rolls contributed with a 9th inning solo shot and the Expos were happy to get the W. The back half of the series was much more kind to the team.

Vladimir Guerrero and Troy Glaus finally wake up along with Frank Catalanotto, Doug Mientkiewicz and Alfonso Soriano continue their respective offensive contributions. MVM pitching was good enough along with a couple of excellent performances, by Jim Brower scattering 6 hits and only 1 run for 8IP and Brian Tolberg comes through with 6IP of solid relief as Al Reyes gets ejected in the 3rd inning of Game 5 for beaning Adrian Beltre. For DeWitt Scott Spiezio and Juan Pierre provided the offense for what was overall a tepid performance for the Tigers coupled with their pitching not being able to find a solution for the Mauler bats as we hammered out 60 hits and 43 runs. Both teams incurred minor injuries but none that extend a great deal beyond the next series as the players recovered quickly. |

| Game #1: | The Hounds are no match for the Demolition in this one, as Chicago comes out swinging and doesn’t stop in an 11-1 victory. Charles Johnson and Higginson provide homers for Chicago, who gets 15 hits. Pedro goes 6.1 and just gives up one run, a solo shot to Bonds (his 9th).

| Game #2: | The Hounds bats continue to be ice cold, getting shutout in this one by a combination of Kile & Rhodes. The Demolition do enough to win, plating three runs, with another homer from Charles Johnson. It was 0-0 going into the 9th, but Benitez gave up all three runs in the top of the inning to take the 3-0 loss.

| Game #3: | Chicago plates 9 runs (!) in the top of the 5th inning, highlighted by homers from Alomar and HIgginson, and they take a 10-6 victory in this one. The Hounds bats show some signs of life, as Dye and Barrett go deep and Easley gets two doubles. But, it is not enough to match the Demolition as they take a 3-0 series lead. Bonds is injured for two days and Marrero 12 days for Chicago.

| Game #4: | The Hounds finally get their first win of the series behind a stellar pitching performance from John Burkett and the bullpen. Barrett hits another homer and the Hounds jump on Millwood early, despite missing Bonds, to take a 4-1 victory and get their first win of the series.

Pedro outdueled Carpenter early in the game, but Castle Rock came back thanks to homers from Dye and Snow and a 3-hit game from Agbayani, stepping in for Bonds. | Series Summary: | It was the “Tale of Two Series” in what ended up being a 3-3 split. Valdosta scored 31 runs in the first 3 games and won handily. Then the bats went silent, dropping 3 straight and scoring a paltry 4 runs. Huskies didn’t go wild offensively but their pitching was excellent in the final 3 contests.

| Game #2: | Gonzalez vs. Burnett Titans jumped out to a 4-0 lead capped by a Burrell homer in the first. The Mullets respond in the bottom of the 1st by batting around and scoring five runs. | Game #3: | Arrojo vs. Hernandez Hernandez was replaced by Walker after one batter. Lee got things going for the Cycle with a two run homer in the 2nd. They added another run in the 4th. In the 8th, Zambrano came in and and gave up a solo shot to Berkman and a two run homer to Gonzalez to give the Mullets their first lead of the game. | Series Summary: | he Titans grabbed game one and then dropped five in row to the Mullets even though they had a lead in every game but the last two. Juan Gonzalez slugged four homeruns and was the player of the series. The Cycle’s strong offense taxed the Flora-Bama’s rotation and pen, so they’ll need to call up some fresh arms before the next series with Michigan. Long Beach may also need to get some fresh legs for the offense as they head to ManHattan with a bunch of avail players. |
