Sparky_Lyle-HOF93-3As I look out upon this gathering, I am filled with overwhelming emotions—a deep sense of appreciation, nostalgia for the cherished moments on the field, and an abiding sense of honor that words fail to fully convey.

I am Sparky Lyle, and today marks an extraordinary milestone in my life—a moment I could only dream of during my days as a young aspiring pitcher. To be recognized and enshrined within the esteemed Mid-West Winter League (MWWL) Hall of Fame is a pinnacle beyond my wildest aspirations.

Sparky_Lyle-HOF93-2Reflecting on my journey in this incredible sport, I am reminded of the teams I had the privilege to represent—the Chicago franchise from 1970 to 1979, the Washington team in 1980, a brief yet impactful stint with Quebec City in 1981, and culminating my career with Gold River in 1982. Each team holds a special place in my heart, and I am forever indebted to the organizations, coaches, teammates, and devoted fans who made each chapter of my career unforgettable.

The city of Chicago, where I spent the majority of my playing days, holds a particularly special significance. The camaraderie, the passionate fanbase, and the unwavering support of the Demolition Owner, the esteemed Stray Corrado, fueled my love for the game and inspired me to give nothing less than my absolute best every time I stepped onto the field. Mr. Corrado, your belief in me and our team was the cornerstone of our success, and I am eternally grateful for your leadership and guidance.

Throughout my tenure in the MWWL, I strived for excellence—both in personal performance and in contributing to the success of my teams. The memories forged, the battles fought on the mound, the joys of victory, and the lessons learned in defeat—all of these experiences have shaped me not only as a player but as a person.

To stand among the illustrious names already etched in the MWWL Hall of Fame is an overwhelming honor. I humbly accept this induction with a deep sense of appreciation for all who supported me—my family, coaches, teammates, and the incredible fans who made every game an exhilarating experience.

As I join the ranks of the distinguished individuals enshrined here, I am reminded that this honor is not solely a reflection of my achievements, but a tribute to the collective effort of everyone who contributed to my journey in this beautiful game we all love—baseball.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for this incredible honor. I will cherish this moment for eternity and remain forever grateful for the privilege of being a part of the rich tapestry of the Mid-West Winter League.
