CARLTON FISK – MWWL HALL OF FAME BALLOT BIO
Carlton Fisk’s 22-season Mid-West Winter League (MWWL) career cemented his status as one of the league’s most distinguished and durable catchers, earning him an undisputed place in the MWWL Hall of Fame. Fisk played for seven different franchises: the Hollywood Vampires, Berryhill Sledge Hammers, San Diego Rednecks, Santa Cruz Sharks, Skull Island Predators, Western Mass Seahawks, Washington Past Timers, and Steel City Sluggers.
His career totals are staggering: 2,405 games played, 2,017 hits, 418 doubles, 49 triples, 311 home runs, and 1,278 RBI, all while maintaining a respectable .261 batting average and a .449 Slugging Percentage. Fisk was an immediate sensation, claiming the 1972 Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards while playing for the Hollywood Vampires, a season where he hit 29 home runs and drove in 102 runs with a career-best .308 average and .993 OPS.
Fisk was a constant presence in the MWWL’s premier contests, earning 10 All-Star Game selections—four as a starter. He was also a top defender, taking home the 1985 Gold Glove Catcher award with the Washington Past Timers.
A true postseason warrior, Fisk appeared in the Division Series, League Playoffs, and World Series, amassing 136 total playoff plate appearances. He demonstrated his clutch power in the League Playoffs with a .405 Slugging Percentage and 5 home runs, including a three-homer effort with the Hollywood Vampires in the 1983 League Playoffs.
