Portland Mavericks @ Chicago Demolition
Series Preview:	First place in the AL Central Chicago (61-44) hosts the third place AL West team from Portland (49-55)
Game #1:	Final Portland 7 Chicago 6. W. M. Whiteside 1-0 L. D. Jones 5-4 S. G. White 18. Chicago was plagued by errors in this one with 3 causing starting pitcher Pichardo to give up 6 but only 2 earned in 5.1 innings. Carlos Delgado as always had a great game with 2 extra base hits including a home run with 2 RBI. The game was tied 6-6 going into the 9th and Portland scored the winning run on a Jeff Conine single to score Jose Valentin after he smacked a double off the wall.
Game #2:	Final Portland 4 Chicago 1. W. D. Kile 9-8 L. T McKnight 0-1. Kile goes the distance giving up his lone run in the 7th inning on 5 hits. He struck out 0! Chicago scored their run on a ground ball double play so the entire team goes without an RBI. For Portland on the offensive side it was Jose Valentin who had himself a 2 HR day with 3 RBI.
Game #3:	Final Portland 15 Chicago 2. W. M. Sirotka 7-5 L. K. Millwood 9-9. The bats for Portland came alive in the 4th with 8 runs and chased Millwood in the inning. 3 HR by Portland including a grand slam by Beltran and 2 from Will Clark really kept the line moving. Valentin continued to swing a hot bat with 3 more hits including a three bagger. Sirotka came out in the 9th to try and match Kile in game 2 with a CG but quickly was losing control. Chicago scored both of their runs in the 9th to end the shutout. Only 7 total hits for Chicago and they never got out of the starting gate in this one.
Game #4:	Final Chicago 10 Portland 1. W. P. Martinez 18-1 L. J. Santana 1-3. Chicago gets one back and are alive in the series. Santana flirted with trouble the first two innings but in the 3rd it all fell apart. 7 runs chased him without recording an out in the 3rd which included a Shannon Stewart grand slam. He walked 6! Pedro goes 7 scoreless giving up 3 hits and striking out 5. Stewart finishes the game 3-4 with a walk and the grand slam.
Game #5:	Final Chicago 6 Portland 2. W. R. Clemens 6-4 L. F. Castillo 4-7. It is a series now! Clemens gave up back to back home runs to Jose Valentin & Geoff Blum in the 4th for Portland to take a 2-1 lead. Momentum had shifted back to Portland until the bottom of the 5th when a 3 spot changed the game for good. A triple by Christenson, double by Cirillo, and singles by Higginson and Delgado got Chicago back in position. The bullpen was absolutely on fire throwing 2.2 of no hit ball.
Game #6:	Final Chicago 6 Portland 2. W. Pichardo 3-2 L. Person 6-5 S. Cruz 9. Deja vu when it comes to the score but a much different way to get there. Bottom 4 with 2 outs and a runner on 2nd saw Adam Kennedy commit an error on a ground ball. You can’t give this Chicago team extra outs. A single made it 1-0 and then Shannon Stewart again with a big home run made it 4-0. Pichardo had a much better start this time than in game 1 as he goes 6.2 scoreless giving up only 4 hits and 2 walks. Stewart goes 3-5 with 3 RBI and a triple short of the cycle.
Series Summary:	A series split that saw Portland that the first three and Chicago bounces back in games 4-6. Darryl Kile gets the nod as the best pitcher for Portland with his CG in game 2 of 1 run ball where again he somehow struck out 0 guys. Chicago got a great performance from Pedro Martinez in game 4 of 7 scoreless innings with 5 k’s. Hitting wise the star for Portland in the series was Jose Valentin. He went 8/25 (.320) with 3 HR, 1 3B, 1 2B, 7 RBI, & 5 runs scored. Chicago had a standout series from Shannon Stewart. He was 10/24 (.417) with 2 HR, 1 2B, 7 RBI, & 3 runs scored. Chicago is now 64-47 and Portland 52-58.

Montreal Canadiens @ Castle Rock Hounds
Series Preview:	Montreal and Castle Rock are jostling for wildcard spots, and Montreal is only 3.5 out in the AL East, so this is an important series for both squads.
Game #1:	Jose Offerman puts Montreal ahead 3-1 with a homerun in the 4th. Montreal gets three more in the 8th off of Wetteland who continues his horrid season and the Canadiens take the series opener, 7-2. WP: Weaver (7-5) LP: Burkett (3-2)
Game #2:	Montreal rides two big innings (5 in the 5th and 4 in the 7th) to take this one by a 12-2 rout. Montreal had 15 hits, including 13 singles and 9 walks. No homers however. WP: Neagle (7-9) LP: Pettitte (10-5)
Game #3:	The Hounds bats awaken in this one, as they explode for 8 runs in the first three innings, chasing Politte from the game. They don’t look back as they continue to pour it on, ultimately winning 16-1. Both Dye and Sweeney have four hits in the game, and Bonds scores four runs, including a homer. Dreifort goes for the complete game, allowing 0 earned runs on 3 hits. WP: Dreifort (12-5) LP: Politte (3-5)
Game #4:	In a real mismatch, Greg Maddux (16) faces Chris Carpenter (3) in this one. So, of course, Bonds and Gonzalez go back-to-back to give Castle Rock a 2-0 lead in the first. That doesn’t last long, as Montreal takes advantage of a Castle Rock errors and takes a 4-2 lead thanks to an Offerman HR. But, the Hounds offense will not be denied, with Dye adding the third homer of the day to tie it at 4-4. Sweeney greets Guardado in relief with a HR and Castle Rock regains the lead. Offerman ties it up with a sac fly in the top of the 7th. But Bonds takes it right back with an RBI groundout in the bottom half, 6-5 Hounds. But, the Canadiens get one more in the 8th to tie it right back up. It is still tied in the bottom of the 9th. With two outs and Easley on second, the Canadiens intentionally walk Bonds to face Luis Gonzalez. Walker gets him to strike out, and we head to extra innings. In the top of the 10th, Hal Morris delivers a clutch two-out RBI double to score Mark Grace. Armando Benitez has been just horrible for Castle Rock all year, a 22 grade RP who now has a 5.23 ERA. Bradford gives up a leadoff single to Dye in the bottom of the 10th, but gets Tatis to ground into a DP to end the game. WP: Walker (4-6) LP: Benitez (2-6) S: Bradford (2)
Game #5:	The Castle Rock bats just go to town in this one, collecting 16 runs on 19 hits, including 4 from Damian Easley and 3 from Bonds. Kenny Rogers goes the CG allowing 0 runs on 6 hits. The final is 16-0, Castle Rock. WP: Rogers (5-8) LP: Sele (7-9)
Game #6:	It’s a back-and-forth game in this one, as Greg Zaun ties it up at 3-3 with an RBI double in the bottom of the 8th off of Kelly Wunsch. But, Castle Rock comes back with two in the bottom of the 8th to make it a 5-3 game. Kotsay leads off the top of the 9th with a HR to make it 5-4. Benitez comes on for Castle Rock to see if he can nail it down. He is able to strike out the side and the final is 5-4. WP: Wunsch (6-6) LP: Walker (4-7) S: Benitez (16)
Series Summary:	Castle Rock is able to salvage a split after losing 3 of the first 4 games. Over the series, Castle Rock is +16 in the run differential, but that is thanks to 16-1 and 16-0 victories in Games 3 and 5.

Series Summary:	Long Beach takes 5 of 6 from Hampton.

Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Connecticut Jays
Series Preview:	First place Manhattan takes on last place Connecticut.
Game #1:	Jays 9 Gas Hornets 3 WP C Finley 4-11 LP T Wakefield 6-8 Starter Finley pitches 8 effective innings for the win. Grieve and Piazza homer for the Jays and Vaughn drives in 3 runs.
Game #2:	Jays 10 Gas Hornets 7 WP C Park 6-10 LP B Kim 3-3 Jays score 5 in the 1st but Gas Hornets climb back to make the game close. Durham and Anderson homer for Gas Hornets. Grieve homers for Jays and Merloni has 4 hits.
Game #3:	Jays 9 Gas Hornets 6 WP A Leiter 7-12 LP B Anderson 8-6 Jays score 4 runs in the 1st helped by a Jeter error. Gas Hornets closes gap scoring 4 runs in the 6th. Closer Nen shuts the door picking up his 15th. Anderson and Stairs homer for Gas Hornets while Piazza and Gonzalez homers for the Jays.
Game #4:	Jays 7 Gas Hornets 4 WP K Benson 10-6 LP R Bell 7-6 Benson goes the distance on 6 hitter fanning 9 but walking 7. Bronw’s grand slam accounts for the Gas Hornets runs. Piazza and Polonia homer for the Jays.
Game #5:	Gas Hornets 15 Jays 4 WP J Halama 5-7 LP M Del Toro 0-3 Gas Hornets bats crush Jays pitching. Stairs belts 4 homers and drives in 7 runs. Martinez also homers for the Gas Hornets.
Game #6:	Gas Hornets 7 Jays 4 WP T Wakefield 7-8 LP C Finley 4-12 Behind pitching of Wakefield and three relievers Gas Hornets take series finale. Durhams drives in three runs for the Gas Hornets. Gas Hornets score 5 runs in the 2nd to take control of the game.
Series Summary:	Connecticut takes first four games of series while Manhattan takes final two.

Michigan Mauraders @ Baltimore Blue Crabs
Series Preview:	Baltimore takes on Michigan for six games.
Game #1:	Baltimore 9 Michigan 2 Batista with 3 RBIs and Tucker and Posada hit homers.
Game #2:	Michigan 5 Baltimore 3 Michigan comes from behind. Singleton has 3 RBIs. Aaron Boone with 3 hits.
Game #3:	Michigan 7 Baltimore 6 Anderson and Palmeiro hit homers. Palmeiro with 3 RBIs.
Game #4:	Baltimore 8 Michigan 3 Dempster goes to 13-3. Michael Tucker with 3 RBIs.
Game #5:	Baltimore 5 Michigan 2 Appier throws a solid 7 innings for the win. Casey hits a 2 run homer.
Game #6:	Baltimore 19 Michigan 5 Casey with 2 homers. Batista and Young hit homers.
Series Summary:	Baltimore comes on strong late in the series to win 4 of 6.

Fort Worth Panthers @ Monroeville Maulers
Series Preview:	The Fort Worth Panthers on the prowl visit the Maulers at Hammer & Steel Stadium. MVM looking to gain ground on CHI feeding off of FWP poor performance to this point but can the Panthers play spoiler?
Game #1:	MVM 7-4 FWP 4-10-1 / MVM 7-11-1 L- LIMA 2-4 vs W- BJ Ryan 2-2, Jose Acevedo SV-2Tied 4-4 after 4.5, as the Maulers take a 1-run lead in the bottom of the 5th inning. The Maulers add 3 more for insurance as Jose Acevedo is called upon for 3.1 IP of relief allowing only 1 hit. FWP E. Martinez 2-5, HR(16), MVM Vladimir Guerrero HR (46), 2-RBI (117) Jacque Jones 3RBI(70). Aramis Ramirez was injured for 10 days.
Game #2:	MVM 4-0 FWP 0-5-1 / MVM 4-8-0 L- RITCHIE 2-11 vs W- Todd Wendell 6-2A spot start for Todd Wendell spelling an ever-tiring Mauler rotation. He scatters 5 hits and fires a CG shutout! The Maulers make efficient use of 8 hits plating 4 runs in a small ball effort. No offensive fireworks for either team.
Game #3:	FWP 2-1 FWP 2-10-1 / MVM 1-4-0 W- BROWN 10-7 vs L- Andy Ashby 7-122-1 Panthers after the 6th, as Kevin Brown fires a CG 4 hitter squelching the Mauler bats. Andy Ashby scatters 10 hits as FWP leaves 10 runners on base. Gary Sheffield 2-4, HR(23), RBI(71), Fred McGriff 3-4, 2b(11).
Game #4:	MVM 4-3 FWP 3-11-2 / MVM 4-6-0 L- ORTIZ 4-8 vs W- Todd Jones 4-23-3 after 7 as Scott Schoenweis dodges many tough base situations allowing 11 hits and FWP once again fails to produce enough runs for victory LOB 9. MVM scores the go-ahead run in the bottom half of the 8 inning as Todd Hollandsworth lines a clutch single RBI(44), scoring the speedy Pokey Reese from 2nd. Todd Jones in relief hurls a perfect 1.2 with 2Ks for the win. MVM Vladimir Guerrero 2-4, adding to his league- leading HR total #(47), RBI(119).
Game #5:	MVM 7-6 FWP 6-12-1 / MVM 7-12-2 L- NOMO 7-11 vs W- Jon Lieber 13-8, Mendoza SV-3The Maulers chip away over the first 4 innings taking a 7-2 lead chasing two FWP pitchers. The Panther pitchers finally settle down and the offense starts a comeback as Jon Lieber tires in the 7th allowing 2 runs and again in the 9th allowing 2 more. But it’s Ramiro Mendoza on in relief to finish the 9th in fine fashion for the save, as the Maulers almost blow a comfortable lead. MVM Vladimir Guerrero 3-5, 3b(14), league leading RBI 2(121), Jacque Jones 3-4, HR(18) 3-RBI(74), Pokey Reese 2-3, 2b(14), and league leading SB(33). FWP Glanville 3-4, 2B(22), Bush 2-5, 2b(5).
Game #6:	MVM 11-8 FWP 8-11-1 / MVM 11-13-1 L- LIMA 2-5 vs W- Francisco Cordova 1-1The Maulers are cruising along 7-0 after 6 as Francisco Cordova, called up from the farm to give the Mauler rotation a much-needed rest, shines hurling 8 innings allowing only 3 hits, but begins to tire loading the bases with walks a clutch single and a wild pitch as the Panthers plate 3 in the 7th. Cordova settles down in the 8th. and BJ Ryan is called upon to start the 9th hoping to hold the win for Cordova but falls apart as the Panthers explode for 5 in the 9th however they fall short as Todd Jones hustles out of the bull-pen to put out the fire for the save. Both teams make efficient use of the lumber but the Maulers come out on top smacking 4 HRs, as Frank Catalanotto goes 3-4, with a HR(5) and 5-RBIs, Todd Hollandsworth 3-5 3-runs scored. FWP Ivan Rodriguez HR(17), 3-RBIs, Grebeck 3-RBIs for FWP.
Series Summary:	FWP 23/59/7 – MVM 34/44/4 Series mostly dominated by the Maulers with a good balance of pitching and offense although the Panthers out hit the Maulers, MVM made great use of their hitting as they’ve done all season to produce runs. Kevin Brown shines for the Panthers in game 2 with the 4-hit complete game victory. Maulers win two 1-run games as they take the series 5-1.

Corktown Bootleggers @ Harper Woods Expos
Series Summary:	Harper Woods take the series 4-2. Both of C-Towns wins were memorable though. Paul Abbott threw a no-no in one and they scored 21 runs in their other victory

Hollywood Vampires @ Danbury Mad Hatters
Series Preview:	Two teams going nowhere play to see if they can split.
Series Summary:	Hollywood win the first 2 and then Danbury wins 4.

Winnipeg Goldeyes @ Valdosta Bombers
Series Summary:	Bombers win the 1st 4 games by out slugging the Goldeyes. They couldn’t keep up the pace though, as Winnipeg rallied to take the final 2 games. Valdosta’s pitching is putrid.

Houghton Penguins @ Southlake Scorpions
Series Summary:	Scorpions take series 4-2 with an amazing 9th inning rally and extra inning win in game six.

Santa Rosa Beach Bums @ Blarney Drive Bandits
Series Summary:	Blarney takes 5 of 6 as Santa Rosa struggled to plate runs in 4 of the 6 games.
