This one goes 11 Innings before the Flying Squirrels prevail. Both starters pitched excellent and went 8.0 & 7.2 Inning respectfully. |
| GAME #2 – Ismael Valdes 14-6 (3.23) vs. David Cone 19-6 (2.66)
Another one-run game with Flossmoor holding on to win 4-3. The Squirrels got four runs in the third and make it hold up. |
| GAME #3 – Denny Neagle 22-6 (2.89) vs. Garrett Stephenson 8-7 (2.86)
The Stars get on the board in the series back in Detroit with a 6-2 win behind seven strong innings from Stephenson and a homer from Jeff Kent. |
| GAME #4 – Jimmy Key 15-10 (3.77) vs. Willie Blair 17-6 (4.12)
The Stars tie up the series at two games with another 6-2 win. Blair with 8 innings of one-run ball and Mondesi with a homer to even things up. |
| GAME #5 – Andy Ashby 13-9 (3.83) vs. Darryl Kile 17-9 (2.42)
Flossmoor wins pivotal game five 6-4 in 10 innings with Maddux coming out in relief to lock down the win. The series now shifts back to Flossmoor. |
| GAME #6 – Ismael Valdes 14-6 (3.23) vs. Greg Maddux 26-7 (2.18)
A crazy back and forth game sees both starters roughed up. Mo Vaughn hits three homers in the game for Detroit who pulls out the win 10-9 in 12 innings and forces game seven. |
| GAME #7 – Garrett Stephenson 8-7 (2.86) vs. David Cone 19-6 (2.66)
Both teams scrape a run across in the first inning and the Stars take a 2-1 lead in the top of the 3rd off Cone. But he shuts them down for the next five innings and strikes out 14 over 8 innings. Flossmoor is able to tie it up in the 6th and we head to extras at 2-2. Detroit gets one in the top of the 10th, but the Squirrels match it in the bottom of the inning. |
