| Series Summary: | Long Beach pitched well and pounded the ball vs first place Winnipeg. There would be no celebration in Winnipeg as the magic number only dropped to 1. pitcher: Cordova 4 hitter for Long Beach hitter: Hammonds 2 homers and 7 RBIs for Long Beach |

Portland Mavericks @ Castle Rock Hounds |
|
|---|---|
| Series Preview: | The Mavericks come in with Castle Rock feeling desperate, 5.5 games out in the wild card race with just a handful of series left. Castle Rock feeling like they need the sweep to stay competitive. |
| Game #1: | Castle Rock gets on the board early and often, taking a 5-0 lead, and ultimately winning 8-2. Homers from Snow and Easley.
WP: Bohanon (9-6) |
| Game #2: | After scoring 8 runs in the opener, the Hounds make Steve Karsay look like Clemens, as Karsay goes for a CG shutout. Despite walking 7 and giving up 3 hits, the Hounds can’t get the elusive run across the plate, and Portland takes a 1-0 victory off of first-inning homer from Sandy Alomar Jr. There goes the sweep.
WP: Karsay (10-10) |
| Game #3: | The Hounds are in control of this one most of the way, jumping out to a 6-2 lead after 3 innings. But, Armando Benitez absolutely implodes in the top of the 9th, as Todd Zeile hits a 3-run homer to cap off a 4-run inning, and Portland takes the game 8-7. An absolutely devastating blow to Castle Rock.
WP:Bottenfield (4-1) |
| Game #4: | Castle Rock jumps out to a big lead, 6-1, and this time they don’t blow it. They coast to a 93 victory.
WP: Hermanson (11-11) |

WP: Pettitte (20-4) |
| Series Summary: | Castle Rock takes 3 out of 5, but the two losses were one-run affairs that the Hounds really needed. |
Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Hampton Huskies |
|
|---|---|
| Series Preview: | Gas Hornets head north to face the Hampton Huskies in the tundra of eastern Canada for five games that really only matter to the visitors as the home team tries to get in some at-bats for the few players they want around next season. |
| Game #1: | A wild back and forth game in which Wil Cordero smacked two mammoth home runs into the left-field bleachers and drove in six runs to pace the Huskies to an 11-10 win over Manhattan. Craig Counsell fell a homer short of hitting for the cycle in a rare start at 2nd base for Hampton while Matt Stairs led the visitors with two hits including a homer and two RBIs. As you can imagine in an 11-10 game … pitching sucked. |
| Game #2: | As it turned out Game 1 was the high point for Hampton and was as close as they would get to Manhattan the rest of the way. Manhattan took game two easily 5-1 behind a complete-game win for Ron Reed. Matt Stairs led the winners’ hitters with homers 2 and 3 of the series – both solo shots. Since Stairs’ hometown is less than an hour away from Hampton we’ve put a hit out on the traitorous Canuck bastard. Five errors by Hampton … just brutal. |
| Game #3: | A simply gruesome game for the Hampton starting scum as the Gas Hornets ravaged the Huskies 19-3 in a 24-hit attack. Ray Durham and Garret Anderson each had four hits for Manhattan with Dave Martinez falling a triple short of the cycle in a 4-RBI game. |
| Game #4: | a pummelling we will go … Manhattan doesn’t let up much and clubs the Hampton seal pups 10-1. Tino Martinez bashes a homer as part of a four-hit attack in this laugher. |
| Game #5: | The Huskies were down 10-1 again at one point but fought back to make it kind of respectable (well not really) in a 12-7 Manhattan win. Hampton’s utterly shit-tastic defense commits a couple of errors that lead to four runs unearned runs in this one. The Gas Hornets knocked out four homers – Dave Hollins, Jason Kendall, Ray Durham, and Dave Martinez. |
| Series Summary: | Well, Whaddaya gonna do? Not much of an ego booster, but still fun to play as Manhattan takes four of five from Hampton. |

| Game #4: | Single Runs in the 1st, 2nd, 6th & 7th give Chicago 4. Detroit gets a lone run in the 4th & 5th. Billy Wagner closes it out.
Final Score: Chicago 4 – Detroit 2 Win: A.J. Sager 8-2 (1.83) |
| Game #5: | Pedro Martinez stifles the Stars for 8 scoreless Innings before he is pulled. Jeff Cirillo has 2 RBI’s for Chicago. The Stars can’t score but 1 & Chicago cruises to their 5th straight.

| Series Summary: | Chicago makes things a lot closer in the American League Central by sweeping the Stars. Chicago is now 2 games back of the now Division leader Harper Woods Expos. It’s now anyone’s race between the Stars, Expos & Demolition. |

|
|---|---|

| Game #1: | Bandits attack for 6 in the 3rd and never look back. Giles’ 2-4 4 RBI day led the ambush.
SW 2 BDB 8 W – Weathers (2-4) |
| Game #2: | Following the same recipe, Blarney tallies 5 in the 1st. Stockton roars back for 4 in the 3rd. Both teams scratch more in but for every 1 the Wings added Blarney added 2. Veras’ 4-5 4 RBI day was his best performance of the season with the baton. Hollandsworth 3-5 w/ 2 doubles.
SW 6 BDB 10 W – Plunk (2-2) |
| Game #3: | Blarney scores early again with 2 each in the 1st and 2nd. Stockton would only score in one inning, the 4th, plating 3. Bandits’ got some nice results from PTP players Valdez (3 for 3) and Sheldon 3-run homer. Wilkins delivered a 3-run shot himself for Stockton.
SW 3 BDB 8 W – Hampton (11-12) |
| Game #4: | Wings score 1 in the 1st but that would be all they would get today. Wells dodges trouble with a 6 inning performance featuring no walks. Judd adds 3 innings of no-hit ball. Klesko’s 2-4 2 double day led all hitters.
SW 1 BDB 4 W – Wells (10-14) |
| Game #5: | Blarney again breaches the walls early with 3 each in the 1st and 2nd innings. The Big Unit only needed the first three as he tosses 7 innings of 3 hit ball. It was all Blarney in the finale as they out-hit Stockton 15-4.
