Series Preview: Long time rival the Long Beach Titans travel across the country to Santa Rosa Beach to play the Bums. The teams are not in the same division anymore and both are seeking a playoff spot. Should be a good series. Bum management is hoping the Titans took a bus tour on the way.
Game #1: Titans decide on Dennis Martinez (3-3) in game 1 to face Kevin Appier (4-2). Titans Hill starts off the scoring with a solo shot in the 2nd. The Bums come right back in the bottom half as Nunnally tripled and White singled him home. Thomas then gives the Buns the lead with a solo shot in the 4th. Titans Baergaleads off the 6th with a single and Boggs executed a perfect hit and run to put runners on 1st and 3rd in the 6th with no outs. Munoz followed with an RBI single to tie the game and chase Appier. Castillo holds for two outs before Hill banged a 3 -run shot to open the game up. His second dinger of the day. Thomas added his second homer of the day in the 9th, too little to late.

Game #2: Hamilton (3-3) is the Titan choice and the Bums go with Smoltz (6-0). Bums start fast with back-to-back doubles by Alomar and Caminiti to lead off game 2. Then Caminiti advances to 3rd and home on consecutive flies to right by Thomas and Sanders, 2-0. Titans Scarsone gets one back with a solo shot in the 2nd. In the bottom half Tarasco walked, MacFarlane doubled him to third and he scored on a Gagne sac fly to center. Hold on to your seats. MacFarlane later scored on a Alomar bloop single, 4-1. Thomas then singled to add another run followed by a 3-run shot by Sanders.

Game #3: Titans send Castillo (1-4) up against Bums Vanlandingham (3-3). Titans Justice rips a 3-run 2-out homer in the 1st. After the Titans fill the bases in the 3rd, Justice lifted a sac fly to score Baerga, 4-0. Scarsone followed with an RBI single.

Game #4: Titans go with Hammonds (5-1), while the Bums will try to recoup from the embarrassing loss with Finley (3-5). Bums score first in the 2nd as MacFarlane reached on an error and Loretta and Finley singled. In the 7th the Titans placed runners on 1st and 3rd before Oliver went deep, Titans 3-1. Bums get one back in the bottom half as Brumfield and PH Hudler doubled. Hill then drops a 2-run bomb to make it Titans 5-2.

Game #5: Titans look to win big with Perez (5-2) versus Bums Bullinger (2-5). With 2-out in the 3rd Titans Boggs sinlged and scored on a Baerga double. Bums Sanders answers with a 2-run shot in the 4th. Fielder ties it in the 9th with a 1-out solo shot. Fielder than puts another out in the 12th to win it.

Series Preview: Hampton is rebuilding and Winnipeg is going for it. Would the Huskeys surprise the Northeners.

Game #5: Winnipeg wins 10-2 as Lopez rested as McGwire and Buhner homer in the 10-2 blowout.
Series Summary: A sweep by Winnipeg as Lopez played hero as did the Winnipeg pitching. Abbotts 1 hitter was great and Lopez was a monster 7 for 9 with 10 rbis.

Series Preview: Two teams fighting for the top pot in the division collide in Cincinnati this week.
Game #1: SLS 6-11-1, CIN 2-5-0

The first of Craig Biggio‘s two solo home runs put the game away. The blast in the seventh broke a 2-2 tie and his ninth inning shot ended the scoring in the win.

Game #2: CIN 3-8-1, SLS 0-5-5

Kevin Ritz pitched a complete game, five-hit gem. Bobby Bonilla‘s two-run homer in the bottom of the first was enough for the win.

Game #3: SLS 6-13-0, CIN 2-5-1

Craig Biggio‘s fifth inning single past short proved to be the difference maker as the Skeeters raced to a 4-0 lead and was able to upend Cincinnati. Jim Thome chipped in with three singles for the winners.

Game #4: SLS 16-17-2, CIN 3-9-0

Craig Biggio unleashed a five-hit day and Sugar Land used huge innings in the fourth (seven runs) and eighth (six runs) to bury the hometown Inferno. Ken Griffey, Jr. had a two-homer game.

Game #5: CIN 6-11-2, SLS 5-4-1

Cincinnati raced to a 5-0 lead through five innings and then needed a late rally to pull out the win. Melvin Nieves delivered a two-run homer in the fourth to get things rolling for the Inferno, but it was John Whener’s sixth inning single that proved to be the difference.

Series Summary: Skeeter Land took three of five games, but could have very easily swept Cincinnati. The Inferno are really five starting pitchers, a bullpen and some timely hitting away from truly contending…

Great duel between Randy Johnson and Charles Nagy. Both pitchers toss 7 strong innings, but the Michigan bullpen, Bob Wickman is ineffective. Eddie Murray with 3 hits for the Bandits while Jim Edmonds hits a homer for Michigan.

Game #2: Blarney Drive 9 Michigan 4

Great offensive show by the Bandits. Jerome Walton hits 2 homers and has 5 RBIs. David Wells does enough to earn the win.

Game #3: Michigan 7 Blarney Drive 6

Michigan with a late comeback to win the game. They score 2 runs in the 8th to win the game. Palmeiro and Brosius hit homers. Boone with 3 hits. Wickman with the win in relief for Michigan.

Game #4: Blarney Drive 9 Michigan 6

Erik Hanson does enough for the 5.1 innings win. The Bandits hit 5 homers to dominate Michigan pitching. Mike Morgan struggles as he makes his first start in a while.

Game #5: Michigan 8 Blarney Drive 7

Scott Brosius hits a 3 run walkoff homer to win the game. Hoiles and Palmeiro each add homers as well. Sean Green with a homer for the Bandits.

Series Summary: Blarney Drive wins 3 of 5 with a great offensive showing.
Portland Mavericks @ Flossmoor Flying Squirrels
Series Summary:  Portland takes 3 of 5 from the hometown Squirrels.
