Game #2: Tom Glavine (20-8 2.35) vs. Chuck Finley (15-9 3.01)
Goldeneyes break out in the 2nd with a 4-spot capped by a 3-run Buhner homer chasing Finley. But the Grays bounce back in the bottom half with a 5-spot capped by a Thomas GRAND SLAM. That’s all she wrote.

Game #3: Jose Deleon (9-9 3.67) vs. Tom Candiotti (19-9 2.06)
Candiotti was solid allowing just 2 runs in 6 innings. Ex Goldeye Myers drove in one of the two runs, Martinez the other. But closer Montgomery blew they save allowing a pinch hit rbi triple to Barbarie. This one went extra innings and in the 11th Devereaux rolled a 66 vs Maddux and Winnipeg fans went home very happy. W-Willis(1-0) L-Maddux(0-1)
Final Score: Winnipeg 3 – Germantown 2 (11 Innings)

Game #4: Mike Morgan (18-8 2.77) vs. Andy Benes (17-9 2.79)
Benes gave up a homer to Camniti and Benes was out after 5 for a pinch hitter. Barbarie walk but did not score or drive int he tying run. The Winnipeg pwn then went 4 shutout innings but in the bottom of the 9th Germantown led 2-1. But supercloser Frohwirth blew the save on a George Bell pinch hit single and lost the game as Omar Vizquel singled on a suicide squeeze to get the walk of bunt single. W-Flannigan(1-0) L=Frohwirth(0-1)

Winnipeg up 3 games to 1 fans were parting on the streets.

Game #5: Chuck Finley (15-9 3.01) vs. Scott Sanderson (10-8 2.42)
Glavine said he was ready but up 3-1 Manager Kuryliw went with the game 1 ace Sanderson instead…. If Winnipeg losses this series this maybe the management error that cost the gold eyes the series. Germantown unlike game one hit Sanderson hard 4 runs in 3 innings. Ex Winnipeg star Alomar hit two triples off the righty and ex Winnipeg catcher Myers went 4 for 4 in the game as they scored 8 runs. Findley was wild 7 walks but the Goldeyes managed only 4 runs. W-Finley(1-0) Montgomery S (1) L-Sanderson(1-1) Gagne hit the only homer.

So Winnipeg manged to win two of the three games despite being outscored 12-10 in the 3 games,.

Winnipeg is ready for game 6 and 7 if needed and will sent our co aces Glavine and Candiotti. So while Germantown is a slightly better team having to face two of the best pitchers in the league this year gives the Canadian fans hope.

Game #6: Tom Glavine (20-8 2.35) vs. Pitcher Jose Deleon (9-9 3.67)
With their backs to the wall the Grays send mid-season acquisition Jose DeLeon to the mound against Goldeneyes twin ace Tom Glavine. Grays pepper Glavine for 4 runs through 6 innings while DeLeon goes 6IP 0R 4H 3W 7K. Grays bullpen was shaky initially, but Maddux and Frohwirth get control of things pitching 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to close it out. Grays Jose 2-4 RBI R 2b and Mack 2-4 RBI 2b. Grays 5 Goldeneyes 2.
On to the rubber match game 7 in the National League championship series. Hopefully the 95 degree 95% humidity has wore down the Canadians.

Game #7: Tom Candiotti (19-9 2.06) vs. Pitcher Mike Morgan (18-8 2.77)
Do or die for both teams. Weather at game time (2:35pm) 94 degrees 50% humidity sunny. Both teams put aces on the mound. Goldeneyes jump out front in the 1st on a Ventura 2-run homer. Grays claw back in the 1st and 2nd to tie it. Goldeneyes Buhner bangs a 2-run homer in the 6th. Does Germantown step it up? No they collapse giving up 3 more for a 5-spot. Goldeneyes Sax 2-5 R, Ventura 2-3 2RBI 2R HR. Candiotti 8IP 2R 6H 2W 3K. Grays Myers 2-4 RBI 2R 2-2b and Gagne 2-2. Guzman, Maddux, Aguilera and Frohwirth pitch 4 innings of scoreless relief. Goldeneyes Downing goes down for 5 days. Goldeneyes 7-4.
Little anticlimactic ending to a great series.
