Mexico City Chihuahuas @ Portland Mavericks
Preview	Mexico City Chihuahuas 60-71 vs Portland Mavericks 77-57. The Mavericks hold a slim 3 game lead in the AL West, host the Mexico City Chihuahuas. The Chihuahuas have won 7 of their last 10. They seem to have underperformed at least what I anticipated this year. Can they make an epic charge in the last 30 games? Let’s find out.
Game #1:	Mexico City strikes first for a 1-0 lead. In the third Dykstra tries to add another, stealing second, then third, but then gets thrown out as the plate trying to score on a sac fly. In the 3rd the Chihuahuas add to their lead with a two out two RBI double by Jefferies. 3-0 Mex after 4.5. Bosio goes all the way for the win for Mex in the 3-0 shutout.
Game #2:	Dwight Gooden 8-10 3.15 MEX vs Mike Moore 10-8 4.59 POR Mexico City strike first again scoring on a 2-out error by Blauser, his 18th of the year. The Chihuahuas add four more in the inning for a commanding 5-0 lead. Ouch, that was one costly error, five big unearned. Portland scores its first run of the game on a 2-out double by Wilkens, and then get another in the bottom of the 4th to close to within 3 runs. After 8 and two thirds Gooden gets pulled for Jeff Russell who strikes out Lance Johnson to win the game 5-2
Game #3:	Ben McDonald 6-8 4.25 Mex vs Steve Avery 10-8 2.99 POR Will Clark gives Portland its first lead of the series with a 3-run blast in the first inning, his 21st of the year. Joe Carter then adds a 2 run shot of his own in the 3rd, his 28th of the year. Portland continues to break it open and stretches the lead to 9-0 after 5, and cruise to a 10-1 win.
Game #4:	David West 5-3 2.72 MEX vs Charlie Hough 8-10 4.71 POR Dykstra steals 2nd and then 3rd for the second time in the series, then scores for a 1-0 Mexico City lead. Charlie Hough walks off the mound with an injury for Portland (his 2nd or 3rd of the year?) in the second inning. In the bottom of the inning Pedro Munoz ties it up with a solo shot. Portland gets 3 more in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead. Portland increases the lead to 5-1 before the Chihuahuas get 3 in the 6th to creep back to within 1 at 5-4. After the top of the 8th the margin is still one at 6-5 Por. Finally, a close one. Pena comes on to shut the Chihuahuas down in the 9th for his 23rd save of the year.
Game #5:	Danny Darwin 6-11 5.30 MEX vs Greg Swindell 15-5 2.43 POR Mexico City strikes first with one run in the first, then another in the 2nd, and then Gwynn hits a solo HR in the 6th. Meanwhile Darwin is pitching a one hit shutout. Darwin doesn’t go the whole way, but it does give up no runs on 2 hits, as Mexico City get the team shutout and 3-0 win.
Game #6:	Chris Bosio 16-8 2.92 MEX vs Ken Hill 11-7- 3.72 POR Portland leads 1-0 until the Chihuahuas tie it up in the 7th. The game goes to extras as Bosio keeps going like the energizer bunny… giving up just 1 run through 11 innings. He trots out again in the 12th but gives up a double to Hough and then a walk to Johnson. Clearly out of gas, the manager continues to leave him in and Knoblauch gets the game winning single to win it 2-1.
Game #7:	Doc Gooden 9-10 3.09 MEX vs Mike Moore 10-9 4.39 POR Portland never challenges in this one as Mexico City scores 5 runs on 5 hits, and Portland scores 0 on five hits as Gooden goes all the way for the shutout.
Summary	Mexico City wins the series 4-3 and improves to 64-74. Portland is 80-61 anxiously waiting for the Squirrels Vs Quakes result.

Janesville Juggernauts @ Detroit Stars

California Quakes @ Flossmoor Flying Squirrels
Preview	Possible playoff preview as the top team in the MWWL comes into Flossmoor to face the Flying Squirrels.
Game #1:	Pitchers duel through five as both teams combine for just three hits. In the 6th the Quakes break through with a pair of runs on a Pendleton single to score Molitor and Whitaker. In the bottom of the 7th the Squirrels answer with a pair of runs thanks in part to a Quake error. Karkovice and Spiers with the big two out hits to tie the game at two. Quakes come right back in the top of the 8th. Canseco singles, steals second and comes home on Molitor’s double. Pendleton bunts Molitor over and Paul scores on O’Neill’s sac fly. 4-2 California. Quakes tack on three more in the 9th thanks to a catchers interference call and win it 7-2. Saberhagen gets win number 16 on the season. Cone pitches well but falls to 12-10.
Game #2:	Flossmoor on the board in the first as the first two men reach and Ron Gant brings em home with a three run bomb. In the 5th, a throwing error by the pitcher allows Pendleton to reach and HoJo follows with a two run homer, cutting the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the 5th once again it’s Williams and Puckett getting on ahead of Gant, who brings them both in with a double. 5-2 FFS after five. Same score to the bottom of the 8th when Baines walks, Gladden come in to pinch run and scores on Fryman’s double. Olson comes in to shut the door in the 9th and Flossmoor wins it 6-2. Hibbard goes 8 innings allowing 1 ER for his 10th win of the year. Harnisch falls to 16-8.
Game #3:	Match up of future HOF’ers as the Ryan Express takes on the Madd Dog. Flossmoor strikes first and once again it’s Ron Gant with a solo shot in the first. Quakes scrape a run across in the 2nd to tie it at one. To the 4th and once again, Ron Gant solo homer makes it 2-1. In the 6th with two outs Pendleton singles and HoJo goes yard to give California the 3-2 lead. Then a walk to O’Neil, who steals second and comes home on Nokes’ seeing eye single. 4-2 Cal. In the bottom of the inning Puckett singles to lead it off and Gant knocks him in with a double for his third RBI of the game. But that is all they get as Gant is throw out at home on a contact play with one out. 4-3 Cal after six. That would prove to be costly as the Quakes pen closes the door in the final three innings for the 4-3 win. Ryan gets the win despite only going 5 innings thanks to some timely offense. He’s now 19-4. Maddux falls to 14-12.
Game #4:	Cal on the board in the first on a Jose Canseco homer. Notable play in the 2nd as Bagwell is hit for the 22nd time this year. He then scores on Karkovice’s 2 out double to tie the game. Quakes re-take the lead on Nokes’ two out double to score Johnson in the 4th. California tacks on three more in the 5th set up by a slew of Boddicker walks. In the 7th Bagwell is hit AGAIN for the 23rd time and has to leave the game. HoJo parks another one in the seats in the 8th to make it 6-1. That would be the final. Harris wins to get to 10-4, Boddicker the loser now 13-6. Flossmoor hit into FIVE double plays in the game.
Game #5:	Nothing resembling pitching for the start of the this game for Flossmoor as Sutcliffe and McCaskill stake the visitors to a 7-0 lead. A late comeback falls short for Flossmoor as the Quakes win it 7-4.
Summary	California continues to dominate as they have all season taking four of five from Flossmoor, who now limps into a series with first place Portland next week.

Sugar Land Skeeters @ Manhattan Gas Hornets
Preview	Sugar Land at Manhattan – 1st vs. last, but reversed from the recent past with the Skeeters at the top of the heep and looking for more.
Game #1:	Tapani goes 7.1 tossing a 4 hitter and allowing nothing. Pasqua (16) and Bell (14) homer, Bell gets 3 rbis. SLS 7-13-0 WP Tapani (14-15) MGH 0- 4-0 LP Welch (3-16)
Game #2:	Big chance for Manhattan, but they give up the early 3-0 lead – partly due to Greene’s 2nd homer of the year. By the end of 9 it’s 2-2. Game drags on until the 13th when the Skeeters scratch one across the plate. SLS 4-15-1 WP Howe (1-1) 13 innings MGH 3- 9-1 LP Patterson (2-4) BS Righetti (6)
Game #3:	Skeeters should be called SLUGGER LAND as they crank out 20 hits, 16 runs, 2 homers, 2 double (that’s 16 singles). Maybe they should be Single Land Skeeters. Langston gets win 22 with 6 innings of work. HRs Buechele (23) Thome (2) Buechele gets 4 rbis, so does Thome, his was a grand slam. SLS 16-20-0 WP Langston (22-7) MGH 6- 9-1 LP Petry (4-11)
Game #4:	5-4 Skeeters after 6, but 4 run 7th gives them a going away 9-5 win. 4th game in a row with double digit hits. White (18) and Bell (15) homer, Bell gets 4 rbis – definitely letting the team that let him get away know he was good (as if there had been any question – am I still kicking myself? You bet!). Santiago blasts 2 for Manhattan (8,9). SLS 9-15-3 WP Hesketh (16-4) S Habyan (8) MGH 5- 8-1 LP Stewart (3-17)
Game #5:	Tapani agains has Manhattan’s number going 7.2 innings tossing his 2nd 4 hitter and AGAIN giving up NOTHING for the win. Doran gets 3 hits including his 16th homer and 3 rbis. Pasqua has 3 hits in the leadoff spot, scoring twice. SLS 8-10-0 WP Tapani (15-15) MGH 0- 6-2 LP Gardiner (3-14)
Game #6:	A close call for Sugar Land (well, closer) and again double digit hits. Bell 2 run double and 2 hit performances from White, Griffey, Buechele and Doran give Greene (no homers this game) a 4-1 win. SLS 4-11-1 WP Greene (15-7) S Andersen (6) MGH 1- 9-0 LP Welch (3-17)
Game #7:	The week finally comes to an end and the Skeeters are still winning and getting double digit hits (all 7 games)! Pasqua is the latest to homer (17) and Gibson goes 4 for 4 with 2 runs and a double. Langston doesn’t break a sweat in 8 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk and 5 ks – and shutout work, now has 23 wins! Gas Hornets end the week with 2 in the 9th. SLS 5-11-0 WP Langston (23-7) MGH 2- 6-2 LP Harris (4-11)
Summary	Well the week was no really big surprise and the Skeeters are easily marching on. Will the post season be good for them? For the Gas Hornets, their 5 (or 6, or 7) year rebuilding plan is still getting underway.

Winnipeg Goldeyes @ Long Beach Titans
Game #1:	Winnipeg jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st behind a Milligan 2 run HR. Glavine took over from there and shut out Long Beach until the 8th when they got 2 runs making the final 4-2. Milligan totaled 3 RBI and Gavine improved to 18-7.
Game #2:	Winnipeg had a 2-0 lead until the 7th when Reimer, Dempsey & Hulett went back-to-back-to-back in the bottom of the inning. Fielder hit his 37th in the 8th to make the final 5-2.
Game #3:	Winnipeg jumped out to an early lead and coasted to a 9-1 win. Ventura had 3 hits and 4 RBI to lead the offense. Candiotti gave up just 2 hits over 6 innings and won his 17th game.
Game #4:	Vaughn hit 2 HRs and drove in all the runs in the Titans 5-2 win. Nichols took a shutout into the 8th to pick up the win.
Game #5:	Winnipeg jumped out to a 10-0 lead after 2 innings and cruised to an 11-6 win. Devereaux had a HR and 4 RBI.
Game #6:	The Goldeyes pounded out 17 hits and rolled to a 10-3 win. In addition to picking up his 19th win, Glavine added 3 hits to lead the offense.
Game #7:	The Winnipeg offense continued to roll as they won easily 9-0. Buhner drove in 4 runs with a 2 run 1B and a 2 run HR. Benes threw 7 shutout innings to win his 15th game.
Summary	Winnipeg had too much offense and won 5 of the 7 games.

Valdosta Bombers @ Michigan Marauders
Preview	The Valdosta Bombers visit Michigan. The two ball clubs have comparable teams.
Game #1:	Michigan 9 Valdosta 0 Mark Guthrie throws a 7-hit shutout. Moseby hits his 7th homer and Bo Jackson hits his 2nd dinger. Ripken with 3 hits. Guthrie goes to 2-1 and Gubicza is now 5-8.
Game #2:	Michigan 4 Valdosta 1 Scott Brosius connects with 2 homers for Michigan. Valdosta’s star is Jeff Treadway with 3 hits. Browning falls to 7-13 and Milacki increases to 8-13. Mike Henneman comes on to get his 22nd save.
Game #3:	Valdosta 2 Michigan 1 Trevor Wilson mixes up his pitches and tosses 6.2 innings of 1 run ball. The Bombers bullpen does the rest. Brantley gets his 11th save and Wilson goes to 6-5. Maldonado and Chamberlain get the RBIs for Valdosta.
Game #4:	Michigan 7 Valdosta 3 Bill Gullickson gets the win and goes to 12-10. Juan Samuel knocks in 3 runs. Don Slaught with 3 hits. Ripken with 44 doubles now. Bryn Smith falls to 10-14.
Game #5:	Valdosta 6 Michigan 5 Michigan blows a 5 run lead and Valdosta scores 6 unanswered runs. Palmeiro with his 20th homer for Michigan. Lefferts with the win in relief, he is 4-3. Brantley records his 12th save. Otis Nixon with 3 hits for the Bombers.
Game #6:	Valdosta 6 Michigan 0 Gubicza goes to 6-8 with a 5-hitter. Nixon gets 3 hits to lead Valdosta. Sid Bream with his 15th homer.
Game #7:	This is the rubber game. Michigan 2 Valdosta 0 Milacki gets his 2nd win of the year. That’s his 9th win. He gives up 5 hits and strikes out 7 batters. No walks. Palmeiro goes 3 for 3 with 1 walk.
Summary	Michigan nips Valdosta 4 games to 3.

Preview	Clovis visits Germantown to play in the summer sultry sauna.
Game #1:	Grays squeaks out a win with a run in the 8th. Cougars Greenwell was 3-5 2-2b and Reed 3-4 RBI. Grays Leius went 2-4 R and Thomas 2-4. Finley’s line was 5IP 2R 6H 3W. Maddux, Magnante, Fossas, Bross, Wilson, Aguilera and Frohwirth teamed for 4 scoreless innings, the win and the save. Grays 3-2
Game #2:	Clovis piles it on in the middle innings for an easy win. Cougars Hamilton 2-4 3R W, Gantner 3-5 3R RBI, Greenwell 2-3 3R RBI W, and Wilson 2-5 3RBI 2b. Myers pitched 6 shutout innings on 3H, 4W w/ 7K. Black and Ritchie finish it with 3 scoreless innings. Grays Bragg 2-2 and MacFarlane 2-4 RBI. Cougars 13-1.
Game #3:	Clovis pounds Grays shutdown boys for the late win. Cougars Henderson 2-4 2R W, Hamilton 3-5 2R RBI Sb, and Murray 3-4 2RBI W. Machado pitched 2 scoreless innings for the win. Grays Leius 2-4 R, Jose 2-5 R 2-2b. Guzman went 6.1 IP allowing 2R on 7H 4W. Cugars 6-5.
Game #4:	Grays build a 7-2 lead through 4 to coast to the win. Cougars Murray 2-4 R 2RBI HR, Bordick 2-4. Machado, Sampen and Hickerson pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. Grays Jose 3-4 2R RBI 2b W, Thomas 2-4 R 5RBI HR W IBB, Alomar 2-4 Sb. Morgan went 6.2IP allowing 2ER on 8H 0W. Grays 8-3.
Game #5:	Grays jump out early, but Cougars undeterred overcome for the win. Cougars Thon 2-4 2R 2RBI. Smith, Gossage, Bell pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief. Grays Mack 2-4 R 3RBI HR. Bross, Magnante, Montgomery, Maddux, Manuel, Frothwirth and Fossas pitch 4.2 innings of scoreless relief. Cougars 6-3.
Game #6:	Cougars wrap up series by surprising the Grays bullpen again. Cougars Henderson 2-5 2R 2b, Greenwell 2-4 W, Reed 3-5 2RBI, Wilson 2-4 2RBI. Johnson 6.2IP 2R on 5H 2W w/ 9K. Grays Finley 6IP 1R on 7H 4W. Cougars 4-3.
Game #7:	Grays salvage series. Cougars Gantner 2-4 R, Henderson 2-4 R RBI 3b, Bordick 2-4, Wilson 2-4 2b. Grays Jose 2-4 R RBI 2b SF, Mack 2-3 3RBI HBP, Gagne 2-4 2R.
Summary	Cougars come away with the series 4-3 and keep the National League West race interesting for at least another week. Cougars batmen of the series Greenwell did his job at top of order going 10-26 4R 3RBI 2-2b 3W SF and Wilson was a surprise at the bottom with 8-24 7RBI 2-2b W.
