Mexico City  Chihuahuas @ Flossmoor  Flying Squirrels
Preview
Recent trade partners Mexico City and Flossmoor get set for an AL West division series in Flossmoor.
Game #1: Flossmoor on the board first in the bottom of the 2nd on a sac fly from Mickey Morandini scoring Jeff Bagwell. Bernie Williams follows with a two out single to score another run but Puckett goes down swinging to limit the damage. 2-0 FFS after two.Mexico City ties it up two batters later on a 2 run shot from  Mike Blowers. A single, stolen base and a walk set up Donny Baseball who delivers with a two out single to give the Chihuahuas the lead.Another two out rally for Mexico City in the 5th as Jeffreries doubles and is brought home by Kelly Gruber. Mattingly follows with a single and its 1st and 3rd for Gwynn. Mexico City tries to get fancy with the double steal and Gruber is out at the plate. 4-2 Chihuahuas halfway through the game.

The Flossmoor bullpen comes on in the 8th and things fall apart as Mexico City tacks on three more runs to take a 7-2 lead.

Bill Spiers connects on a two run shot for Flossmoor to make it 7-4 after eight but that was as close as they get. Mexico City wins the opener behind David West.

Game #2: Back to back doubles by Fryman and Bagwell opening the scoring in the 2nd for the Squirrels. Bichette follows with a walk and then a Karkovice single brings home Bagwell. Morandini follows with a sac fly to score Bichette and make it 3-0 FFS after the 2nd inning. But just like game one, Mexico City answers with a  three run fourth to tie the game. An error by Travis Fryman opened the door for the Chihuahuas.Flying Squirrels retake the lead in the bottom of the inning on a triple by Mickey Morandini scoring Bagwell.

Flossmoor adds another in the 6th on an RBI single from Bill Spiers that chases Gooden from the game. Swift comes on to get Puckett and keep it a two run game.

Travis Fryman brings home another run in the 7th with an RBI single and then a two out error on a Karkovice fly allows another run to score. 7-3 FFS after seven.

Gant brings home Morandini with a single in the 8th and Kilgus gets Fryman and Bagwell with the bases loaded to limit the damage. 8-3 headed to the 9th.

Leach comes in for Cone and gets Mexico City 1-2-3 in the ninth. Cone the winner moves to 6-7, Gooden the loss and is now 4-7.

Game #3: Scoreless to the 5th when Gary Pettis gets the Chihuahuas on the board with an RBI single. But another double steal goes awry for Mexico City and Girardi is out at home and the threat is defused.Flossmoor answers in the bottom of the 5th with a leadoff double for Bagwell who moves to third on a groundout and is brought home by a Taubensee single.Mexico City gets the first two on in the 6th but a fly out and then the runner at second is thrown out tagging on the fly and the threat falls by the wayside.

We go to extras where Mexico City gets a solo shot from Blowers to lead off the 10th. Russell comes in to shut it down and the Chihuahuas win it.

Game #4: Mexico City with a two out rally and Trammell gets them on the board with a single to strike early against Maddux. The bottom of the order plates three more in the second off Maddux, much to the chagrin of the Flossmoor crowd.Squirrels break through in the 3rd on a two run blast from Kirby Puckett to cut the lead in half.

Mexico City adds another in the 4th as Gary Pettis manufactures a run on his own with a single and a steal.

Jerry Browne leads off the bottom of the 5th with a solo shot to make it 5-3.

Squirrels get gifted a run in the 6th on a dropped third strike wild pitch and an error but could have had more if not for a stupid baserunning decision. 5-4 after six.

Flossmoor does tie it in the 7th with a two out RBI single from Fryman. Tied at five heading to the late innings. Mexico retakes the lead in the 8th after a leadoff double by Reynolds comes home to score beating the throw with the infield in. 6-5 Taco Bell Dogs.

In the bottom of the 9th Baines draws a pinch hit walk to lead-off, and Spiers pinch runs. A hit and run with Bernie Williams works to perfection and its 1st and 3rd with nobody out. Puckett strikes out. Then Ron Gant steps up and blasts one into the gap. Spiers scores and Bernie makes it all the way from first to win it for the Flying Squirrels and send the home crowd into a frenzy.

Game #5: Taco Bell Dogs get two in the first off Joe Table, one of them unearned on an error. A Javier double play kept things from really getting out of hand.In the 4th Javier brings home Reynolds to make it 3-0.Mexico City adds two more in the sixth to make it 5-0 against Mesa while Roy Smith gets upgraded!

Mattingly goes deep in the 8th for even more insurance. Headed to the 9th now with Smith upgraded from a 3 to a 20. Smith finishes what he started, getting the complete game shutout. Who would have thought it possible?!

Game #6: Ron Gant singles home Bernie Williams to open the scoring in the bottom of the first for Flossmoor. In the bottom of the 2nd a single, an infield hit and a  walk load the bases with no outs for the Flying Squirrels. Morandini singles home a run and then a sac fly from Williams plates another. Puckett singles home another and that chases Darwin. After Gant is retired Bagwell is hit for the 13th time this season to load em up for Maas who promptly unloads them with a grand slam, his first hit with the Squirrels. 8-0 FFS after two innings. But wait, the hot mess that is Mike Boddicker gives up 7 runs in the fourth, caped by Kevin Mitchell‘s three run blast.

Mexico City all the way back and into the lead in the 6th as Boddicker is chased and Sutcliffe cant do much to help him.

With two outs in the 9th Ron Gant walks, steals second, and is brought home on Bagwell’s double to tie the game and we head to extras.

In the 10th Karkovice leads off with a double and Bichette comes in to pinch run. Mexico City walks Jerry Browne and Morandini bunts them over to 2nd and 3rd. Bernie Williams with a grounder to Trammell who comes home…but late. Bichette scores and Flossmoor walks it off in ten.

Game #7:

Kelly Gruber strikes first for the Chihuahuas in the 4th with a solo shot off Cone.Flying Squirrels tie it up in the 5th when Walt Weiss singles home Taubensee. 1-1 after five.Flossmoor takes the lead in the 7th when Weiss singles, steals second, and comes home on Bernie Williams‘ single.

Mexico City loads the bases with 2 outs in the 9th and Cone gives way to Olson who gets the final out for the win.

Summary
Flossmoor takes the series four games to three by winning the last two. Three of the four wins for the Squirrels were by one run, including the last two.David Cone was 2-0 in the series allowing two earned runs in 16.2 innings on 9 hits with nine strikeouts.
