| Game #1: | Flossmoor gets on the board first in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of two out RBI’s from Baines and Fryman to take the early 2-0 lead. Stockton on the board with a run in the 3rd on a Robby Thompson sac fly to score Grissom and make it 2-1. Squirrels get a run back in the 6th on Ron Gant‘s solo shot. 3-1 after six. Wings get that run back in the top of the 7th as Grissom scores on an RBI groundout by Thompson after his 2nd triple of the game to lead off the inning and chase McCaskill. Squirrels add an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th thanks to a two-out RBI double from Kirby Puckett. Olsen puts two on with one out on the 9th but gets Larkin to hit into the 1-6-3 double play to end it. FFS 4 – STO 2 |
| Game #2: | Wings strike early against Greg Maddux. After a walk and an infield single Mickey Tettleton puts one into the bleachers for a three-run shot and an early Stockton lead. In a weird inning the Squirrels score two runs in the fourth but also have two runners thrown out at home plate by Chili Davis and his 28 arm in left field. 3-2 Wings after four innings. Flossmoor ties it up in the 6th. Gant leads off with a triple and comes home on Harold Baines‘s RBI hit. But Stockton comes right back with a 2 out solo homer by Larry Walker in the top half of the 7th. Insurance run for the Wings in the 8th on a two-out RBI by Spanky Lavalliere makes it 5-3. They add another on a solo shot by Hayes in the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth Henry loads the bases with one out but gets a pair of Hall of Famers in Molitor and Puckett swinging to end the game.Cadaret wins it in relief and is 3-0. Maddux the loser falls to 6-4 on the year. STO 6 – FFS 3 |

Squirrels take the early lead in the second on Dante Bichette‘s two run blast off Ojeda and add another on a double by Jerry Browne. 3-0 FFS after two. Kent Hrbek delivers a two out RBI for the Wings in the fourth to make it 3-1. Molitor takes Ojeda yard in the 7th for a two run shot and makes it 5-1 Flossmoor after 7 innings. Chili Davis gets one back for the Wings in the 8th with an RBI single to score Pagliarulo but that’s as close as they would get. Mike Boddicker goes the distance for the win for Flossmoor.

| Game #4: | Grissom gets the Wings on the board first in the top of the 2nd with an RBI single but Mike LaValliere is thrown out at third and that stalls the threat. Flossmoor takes the lead in the third as Molitor triples in a run and then scores on a sac fly from Puckett. 2-1 FFS as we head to the fourth. With one out in the fourth Rick Sutcliffe is forced to leave the game with a shoulder injury and is out for 18 days. Jose Mesa takes over. Stockton ties it in the fifth on an RBI double by Chili Davis. Gardner loads the bases with nobody out in the 7th and the Squirrels take the lead on a double play groundout by Molitor but only manage the one run. 3-2 FFS after the 7th. Honeycutt does the job in the 8th and Olson gets em 1-2-3 in the ninth for his 8th save. Gardner goes the distance in the loss and falls to 1-3. Honeycutt gets his first win in relief. FFS 3 – STO 2 |
| Game #5: | Chili Davis gets the scoring started early with a two run homer off Hibbard in the top of the first. In the bottom of the inning Bernie Williams goes yard to get one back. 2-1 STO after one. Taubensee ties it up in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out RBI double to score Bagwell all the way from first. Hibbard is chased after a leadoff single in the 8th and Norm Charlton comes in. With runners and 2nd and 3rd and one out, a squeeze play goes awry and the runner is tagged out at the plate. Later in the same at bat Hrbek sends one deep to the wall but Kirby Puckett makes a leaping catch to rob the two run blast and keep at tied at two. Puckett then walks with one out in the 8th and scores on a hit and run double by Ron Gant. 3-2 FFS as we head to the ninth.McCledon reaches to start the 9th for Stockton, steals second, advances to third on a ground out and scores on a sac fly to tie the game at three. We head to extras where in the bottom of the 10th Travis Fryman hits the walk off homer to give the home crowd a thrill in Flossmoor. Cadaret takes the loss and is now 3-1, and Osuna picks up the win in relief. FFS 4 – STO 3 |

Flossmoor takes the series four games to one in a series that saw all five games decided by three runs or less. The Flying Squirrels have now won 12 of their last 15 games. On the flip side Stockton

| Game #1: | Game #1 Omar Olivares 2-3 3.12 for Montana vs Steve Avery 5-2 1.89. The Cutthroats open the series with 4 ‘available’ players in the starting lineup… a clear sign that perhaps they did visit a bar the night before. B1 Blauser tags Olivares with HR 1-0 Portland. From there on out it is a brilliant pitching duel between Olivares and Avert. Avery has a shutout going until two outs in the 9th when Belle hits a triple. Avery steps back to the mound vs Horn to try to preserve the shutout and win, while Horn eyes the Multnomah Athletic club 330 feet away in left field. Montana decides to pinch run for Belle with Deion Sanders, so Avery switches to the stretch to keep an eye on him. With two outs Horn takes might swing, and misses. Avery picks up the complete game shutout and Portland wins 1-0. |
| Game #2: | Game #2 Frank Tanana 2-4 2.86 for Montana vs Charlie Hough 2-4 4.70. This time 5 Cutthroats starting in available status. True story, I lived in Alasaka I pronounced the Tanana River in Alaska like Frank Tanana pronounces his name, and had to be corrected… it is Ta-ni-nah I was told.B1 Portland strikes first again with a double from Polonia and a single RBI by Clark, his 36th in 38 games on the year. T2 Montana says ditto almost, behind a Franco single and a Harper double RBI. 1-1 tie. B3 Back to back… walks by Ziele and Huff and a single by Blauser loads the bases for Portland. Pena PH for Alomar and hits into a DP but a run scores. 2-1 Portland. T4 Franco gets on with a Single and Harper blasts a 2-run shots to give the Cutthroats a 3-2 lead. B6 An error y Duncan allows Polonia to reach third and Clark takes first. Polonia scores on a WP to tie score 3-3. B7 Wilkins breaks the tie with a Solo shot. B8 Portland loads the bases with no outs, Assenmacher on to relieve. Ziele get SF. 5-3 Portland going to 9th. T9 Pena comes on to get his 9th save of the year for Portland. |

| Game #4: | Game #4 Bill Krueger 2-4 3.44 for Montana vs Greg Swindell 4-2 2.88 T1 It was bound to happen, the Cutthroats strike first with a 2-run blast by Belle, and then Franco adds a solo shot for a 3 zip Montana lead right out of the gate. B5 Portland loads the bases with one out, gets, a FC at home, and then Phil Clark gives Portland the lead as fans feast on the Grand Salami. 4-3 Portland after 5. T7 Aquino on to relieve at this point, and Montana with Seitzer on 3rd and Morris 2nd. PR Seitzer takes off for home on the steal… and is OUT! Still 4-3 Portland. T8 Harper gets a clutch hit and ties it up for Montana with a two out double. Duncan then gives the Cutthroats the lead with a double of his own. B8 Back to back to back singles by Zeile and Sojo and Uribe ties the game at 5-5, but Portland has runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Portland loads the bases with one out before Sojo gets picked of 3rd! With a 2 ball 1 strike count, Huff lashes a single RBI and Portland has a one run lead. T9 Pena comes on to try for a save, but walks Morris with 1 out. Deion Sanders pinch runs, and Burks smacks a double. Portland loses track of Sanders on third and he breaks for the plate…. SAFE!!! Tie game. Hill then scores on a SF to give Cutthroats a 7-6 league in a thriller. B9 Pall on the mound for the Cutthroats trying to get the save, and he does! |

Rijo takes the mound after a brilliant start to the season for Montana. T1 Franco crushes a 3-run homerun for the Cutthroats, which with Rijo’s pitching might be all they need. B1 Portland gets one back in the first. 3-1 Montana. B4 Portland inches back a little more with an unearned run 3-2 Montana. B5 Poor fielding by Montana is keeping Portland in the game as the Cutthroats commit their 4th error of the game, which allows Portland to tie it up. With one out and runners on first and their manager Billy Martin brings the infield in and Clark slaps a single past Duncan to give Portland 4-3 lead. T8 Moore recovered completely from his first inning mistake and blanks the Cutthroats for 6 straight innings, but leaves with no outs and two on. Seitzer again gets to third, again tries to steal home, and again is caught. With Sanders on third, Pena goes to the stretch before Horn clobbers a 2 run dinger for a 5-4 Montana lead. B9 Rijo looking to go all the way. Wilkins reaches first on yet another error with two outs, but Rijo gets Aldrete to ground out to with the game. 5-4 Cutthroats in another barnburner. |

Then they plate the winner in the 9th with 2 walks, SAC and SF. So the final two Manhattan runs (1 in 9th, 1 in 10th) came with NO HITS! Chico Walker hits his 1st homer of the year! Righetti gets the win (1-2), Ritchie the loss (2-2) |
