Another emergency starter for Goldeyes, Tom Niedenfuer. Tom pitches well, giving up a pair in the first but Randy Johnson was on his game with a complete game, 10 strikeout shutout.

Clovis makes it three straight with a nice performance from McKaskill.
Game #4:
WIN 4 CLC 1
Winnipeg grabs a win behind Danny Jackson who keeps Clovis off balance all day long. McGuire’s two run homer provided the big blow for the Goldeyes.
Game #5:
CLC 5 WIN 4 11 innings
Myers blows a save for Clovis with two outs in the ninth when Devereaux triples in Roberts. Clovis comes back in the bottom of the 11th with the game winner when Reed knocks in Murray with two out to give Clovis the win.
Game #6:
CLC 11 WIN 3 Game 1 of 2
Wells picks up the win over Edens who gets his second start of the series. Greenwell and Pena both went deep to provide the needed support.
Game #7:
CLC 4 WIN 1 Game 2 0f 2
Clovis sweeps the doubleheader behind Anderson and a parade of relievers. Henderson and Greenwell both club homers to lead the offense for Clovis.
Summary
Cougars take 6 of 7 from a depleted Winnipeg squad outscoring the Goldeyes 47 to 13 over the seven games.

 

Traverse City Tigers @ Janesville Juggernauts
Preview
Traverse City visits Janesville for a seven game set. Both teams are rebuilding for the future and fighting to finish out of the cellar of the American League West.
Game #1:
As it has been most of the season, the Juggernauts weak bullpen falters again as Traverse City takes game one 17-2. Maddux gets a quality start going 7 innings giving up two earned runs with six strikeouts and only 2 walks.
Game #2:
Game two is an extra inning affair, but the Tigers pull it out in the tenth to win it 5-4.
Game #3:
The Juggernauts finally remember how to win, and win game three 12-4 behind a quality start by Anderson.
Game #4:
Again the bullpen woes continue, as Traverse scores five unanswered runs in the 8th to walk away with a 6-0 shutout.
Game #5:
Bruce Ruffin takes a hard loss, as sloppy play by the Juggernauts gives the Tigers a 7-2 victory. Only two of the seven runs were earned, as two errors cost Janesville dearly.
Game #6:
Game six is a close affair, but the Tigers prevail 4-3 despite the Juggernauts outhitting them 11-5.
Game #7:
Curt Young pitches his best game of the season, going the distance in winning 4-0.
Summary
Traverse City takes the series 5-2, and continues their road trip against the Chicago Demolition. Janesville stays at home and faces Detroit.

 

Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Valdosta Bombers
Preview
Valdosta plays host to the 1st place Hornets.
Game #1:
Manhattan 5-3. Bob Welch improves to 19-2 and Doug Jones picked up his 11th save.
Game #2:
Valdosta 8-1. Tim Leary was pounded by the Bombers. Meanwhile, Dave LaPoint scattered 10 hits and picked up his 1st win of the year.
Game #3:
Manhattan 5-3 (11 Innings). Steve Sax stole 4 bases, including a steal of home in the 11th, as the Hornets slip past Valdosta.
Game #4:
Valdosta 11-1. Bombers pound out 12 hits on their way to an easy win.
Game #5:
Manhattan 2-1. Cy Young favorite Bob Welch improves to 20-2 as the Hornets sneak by the Bombers.
Game #6:
Manhattan Gas 4-3. Tim Wallach tripled twice in a losing cause for the Bombers. Mike Scott improved to 10-5.
Game #7:
Manhattan 6-1. Tim Leary improved to 7-8 and Tom Browning dropped to 5-15 as the Hornets win another easy one.
Summary
Hornets take 5 of 7 from the Bombers.

 

Steel City Sluggers @ Germantown Grays

Division Leader Sluggers take on the want-a-be Grays
Game #1:
Germantown comes to play banging out 11 hits, but still needing 4 runs in the 8th to take the lead and the game. Sluggers Grace was 2-5 R, Sandberg 3-5 R 2RBI HR, Sabo 2-5 2R 2b and Dunston 2-4 R 3RBI HR. Grays Palacois went 2-4 2R RBI HR, Parker 3-4 2R 2-2b.

Game #2:
Grays Morgan pitches 8.1 innings of shutout ball and Veres finishes it. Sluggers Sandberg was 2-4 2b. Grays MacFarlane went 2-4 R 2b and Gagne 2-4 R 2 RBI 2b.
Grays 6-0
Game #3:
Sluggers wake up. Raines was 2-5 R 2RBI 2b, Sandberg 2-5 R 2RBI 2-2b, Reynolds 2-5 2RBI and Dunston 2-4 R RBI 2b. Martinez pitched 6IP allowing 1R on 2H. Orosco, Patterson and Jones pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief.
Sluggers 8-1
Game #4:
Grays Finley and the Slugger staff faced off in a classic pitchers duel. Sluggers Sandberg went 2-5 R RBI HR. Finley pitched 6.2IP allowing 1R on 3H and Aguilera pitched 3 innings of hitless relief. Sluggers got 8 innings of R relief from 5 pitchers.

Game #5:
Sluggers plate 2 in the first and an insurance run in the 8th only to have Grays Clark bang a 3-run dinger in the bottom of the 9th to send this one into extra innings. Sluggers Boston was 2-4 RBI 2b, Sandberg only got 1 hit. Grays Mack went 2-5 2b, McRae 2-4 R W, MacFarlane 2-5 R. Smoltz went 7.2IP allowing  2R on 4H and Parker pitched 2.2 innings of shutout relief for the win.
Grays 4-3 in 11 innings.
Game #6:
Sluggers score 4 over the first 2 innings. Grays come back with a 4-spot in the 5th to take the lead, 7-5. After trading a pair in the 6th the Slugger tie it up in the 8th with 2, 8-8, and score again in the ninth. Sluggers Grace was 2-4 RBI, Boston 2-3 RBI, Bergman 2-2 R RBI. Grays McRae went 3-5 2R, Alomar 2-5 2R, MacFarlane 3-5 2RBI, Parker 2-3 R RBI Caminiti 2-2 R.
Sluggers 9-8.
Game #7:
Rubber match. Another classic pitchers duel. Sluggers Armstrong pitches 6.1 inning of shutout 6 hit ball and Grays Appier went 7 allowing 1 hit a solo shot by Raines. Speaking of which he went 2-4 R RBI HR. Grays Alomar was 2-4, Palacois 2-4 2b and Caminiti 2-3 W. Dewey could not hold off the Sluggers. Sluggers take the series and this game 2-1 scoring again in the 9th.
Summary
Grays play spirited but drop the series 3 games to the Sluggers 4.
