It was Howell’s second straight shutout as he was just warming up last week against Michigan with a two hit variety. Rickey Henderson provided most of the offense with a leadoff homer, a double, a single, a steal, and a pair of runs scored.

Winnipeg ties the series with a nice combination from a pair of budding superstars, Tom Glavine and Robby Alomar. Glavine threw a complete game 7 hitter to improve to 9-6 and Alomar blasted a two run homer, his 9th, to provide the offense in a 2-1 Goldeye victory.

Erik Hanson strikes out 7 and gives up only a 6th inning single in an impressive 1 hit shutout. Dave Bergmann paced the Goldeye offense with 3 base hits and an RBI.

Clovis takes a sloppy game by a 3-2 score. The game featured runs from Winnipeg scored on a 4 base error and a wild pitch. Clovis scored the game winner in the seventh on a pop fly that fell after a collision between Elster and Buhner. Elster was carted off and will miss four games, Clovis also lost starting shortstop Jody Reed when he was drilled in the head by a Jamie Moyer fastball that was clocked at 57 MPH. X-rays proved negative and Reed should only miss 1 game.
