Game #1 – Charlie Leibrandt ( 13-8 3.07) vs. Orel Hershiser (22-8 2.34)

Top 4 – Andres Gallarraga takes a Hershiser fastball and deposits it into the the left field seats for his 1st Home Run in the series

It was a nice pitching match-up until the point in the game.

Top 5 – Tony Gwynn singles home Jose Lind. Curtis Wilkerson moves Gwynn to 3rd on a Hit & Run. Mike Greenwell hit’s into a Double Play, but Gwynn scores on the play. Gallarraga singles, followed by a Ruben Sierra two run Home Run
MBB – 5 – CHI 0

Then the wheels fell off the Wagon for the Black Bears.

Wade Boggs scoots one past the infield, scoring both Trevino & Guillen. Boggs takes 3rd on a George Brett Single. With runners at the corners Eric Davis pulls one to left, Boggs scores, Brett races around third and slides in safely at the plate. Eric Davis ends up at 3rd with a Triple, tying the score at five. Darryl Strawberry then pulls a Leibrandt offering down the line in right – It Might Be – It Could Be – It Hits the Foul Pole – And It Is – a two run Home Run for Strawberry

Bottom 6 – After a Trevino Single & Wade Boggs walk, Bill Doran goes yard off Reliever Jack Morris with a long Home Run blast to right field

Top 7 – With Tony Gwynn at 2nd Mike Greenwell glides into his Home Run trot after taking a Doug Drabek slider deep to right

Top 6 – After a Ruben Sierra Double & a walk to Benito Santiago, Jim Sundberg sacrifices the runners to 2nd & 3rd – Jose Lind hooks a ball down the line in left field, it rattles around in the corner & both runners score.

Craig McMurtry is replaced on the mound for the Black Bears with Roy Smith. Kal Daniels bloops one down the line in right scoring Strawberry Daniels ends up at 2nd with a Double. A one hopper back to Smith at the mound, but smith fires it right by Andres Galarraga at first. Daniels races to third & holds, Scioscia is safe at 1st. Ozzie Guillen then drives on deep to left over the head of Mike Greenwell, Daniels scores, Scioscia rounds third heads home and scores when Galarrraga cuts it & nails Ozzie Guillen trying to stretch it.

Top 9 – Chicago Nemesis Andres Galarraga gets the same hanging slider from Dennis Eckersley that he got in the 1st game & does the same thing. He deposits a Home Run deep to left field, but that’s all the Black Bears could get in the 9th.

The Demolition are a very loaded team, they’ll be a threat for a long time.
The Black Bears will have to rebuild, NOT reload.
