Series Preview

The Demolition come into Janesville to play a five game set. Chicago is on fire, coming in with a league best 47-22 record. Janesville is looking for a turn around at home.

Game #1:

The Demolition live up to their name, dismantling Janesville by a score of 13-4. Boggs was the big hitter, going 6 for 6 with 6 RBI’s, 3 runs and 3 doubles. Show had his shortest outing of the season, going only 1.1 innings.

Game #2:

Janesville responds, winning a one run game 6-5. Trammell goes 3 for 4 for the Nauts, scoring 2 runs with 1 RBI. Clemens goes the distance for Chicago, but takes his 5th loss the season.

Game #3:

Hershiser is magical for the Demolition, going the distance and winning 5-0. He scatters 4 hits, striking out 10 while walking 2.

Game #4:

Another excellent pitching performance for the Demolition, as Stewart goes the distance to win 5-3. Chicago scores 2 runs in the top of the 9th to break the 3-3 tie. Von Hayes goes 3 for 5 with 2 RBI’s. Chicago now leads the series 3-1.

Game #5:

Game 5 goes to the Demolition, as Janesville commits 2 errors and Eckersley is masterful with a 2 inning save, his 17th of the season. Pico wins with a fine 7 inning outing, giving up 6 hits and one earned run.

Series Summary *

It was all Chicago, as Janesville commits 8 errors, and were unable to overcome the hot pitching and hitting of the Demolition. Wade Boggs bats .542 for the series, with 10 RBI’s, 6 runs scored, and 5 doubles.
