1979 PROPOSALS

PROPOSAL #1 – FAILURE TO VOTE – PROPOSAL FAILED .

Failure to vote for Proposals and/or League Awards will result in the loss of the team’s draft pick during the upcoming rookie draft.  The first instance will result in the loss of a 2nd round pick (if no 2nd pick exists, than the Commissioner’s Office will decide which picks will be lost as a result).  The second instance will result in the possible loss of the franchise, Commissioner’s sole discretion.  Each team will be given 7 days to vote.  If an exception or extension is needed, the Commissioner’s Office must be contacted immediately.

Reason for the Proposal:  The Commissioner’s Office has a tremendous amount of duties to perform and really needs all owners to complete on time. Additionally, MWWL is about participation and what better way to participate than to vote

PROPOSAL #2 – INCREASE GRADES 1 & 2 – PROPOSAL PASSED .

Increase all 1 and 2 grade pitchers to 1000 MBF’s before increasing their grades to 3

Reason for the Proposal:  Why it is rare to be in dire need of IP, it happened to Hollywood because their pitching (team) was so poor.  This will help eliminate any issues with running out of MBFs.

PROPOSAL #3 – EXPAND PRE-DRAFT ROSTERS – PROPOSAL PASSED .

Expand pre-draft roster keepers for all non-playoff teams to a maximum of 22 players and a minimum of 20. All playoff teams will be allowed 20 pre-draft keepers.

Reason for the Proposal:  This would allow for all non-playoff teams to have the option of keeping up to 22 players which would let the lesser teams keep more of the “in-between” type players that can help them be more competitive on a consistent basis. Playoff teams would be allowed to keep 20 players. All potential keepers would still be held to the standard MWWL usage rules.

PROPOSAL #4 – 12 TEAM LOTTERY  PROPOSAL PASSED .

The 12 non-playoff teams would participate in a draft lottery immediately following the playoffs.  The team with the worst record would receive 12″balls”, the second worst team would receive 11 “balls”, all the way down to the team with the best record among non playoff teams – who would receive 1 “ball”.  The lottery would commence by pulling for the first 3 positions only, so the team with the worst record could not receive a place in the draft lower than 4th (if that team’s “ball” was not selected in the first three picks).

Reason for the proposal:  The MWWL teams structure for the lottery now needs to be adjusted to help the teams with the worse records have better odds in the lottery.  This would give the worse team a better shot at the lottery than the second worse team, and so on.

PROPOSAL #5 – 1981 SEASON VOTE – SEASON VOTE #2 BELOW PASSED .

Reason for the proposal:  The question is, who do we want to handle this in MWWL? Your options are below.
1. Have 2 halves (64 Games) like MLB did, with the division winners of each half playing each other in a 5 game series to determine the Division Winner.  There would be no Divisional 2nd place playoff participants this year. If this option is chosen, a later vote will be had for how to handle a situation where a team wins both halves.
2. Play a short schedule under all established MWWL guidelines (~104 games)
3. Play 162 game schedule under all established MWWL guidelines.
