With 5.2 IP Hideo Nomo moved into 3rd place all time for IP for the Panthers passing Bob Tewksbury Kevin Brown breaks a tie with Mario Soto with his 20th career shutout in game 4. This is a game that Baltimore should have won, but I got a little too cute trying to get players in the game and blew a late lead. Manhattan jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Crabs would strike back and build an 8-3 lead after 7. The Gas Hornets score 2 in the 8th to cut the lead to 8-5. In the 9th Manhattan would load the bases. Facing probable All Star Tim Worrell, Quinton McCracken delivers a clutch, 2-out bases clearing double to tie the game. Garret Anderson‘s RBI single would score Derek Jeter with the game winner in the 10th and Manhattan wins the opener 9-8. Jeter led a 16-hit attack with 4 hits; McCracken went 3 for 3 with 5 RBIs to lead the Gas Hornets. He did have four RBIs though. Derrek Lee (27) and Rob Mackowiak (14) homered for Hampton. |
| Game #2: | Brian Lawrence limited the Huskies to one run on seven hits – but he could have limited us to 10 and we still would have lost as the Mullets coasted to a 11-1 laugher. Another 15 hits for Flora-Bama in this one, but oddly there were no home runs. Lance Berkman had three hits though and drove in three runs for the winners. Torii Hunter of the Mullets and Derrek Lee of the Huskies each drove in one run as they both inched closer to the 100-RBI plateau with 97 each. |

Gladstone grabbed the lead again in the bottom, and again Michigan tied it in the top of the 4th. The Gladiators thought they had the game under control when they plated a pair in the 5th and another in the 6th to take a 6-3 lead. But Michigan came back with a pair in the 7th and another pair in the 8th and ended up winning the game. FINAL SCORE: MIC 7 – GLA 6 |
