Kile (4-6) 6IP 5H 7R 4ER 5K Home runs by Raul Ibanez and Bengie Molina were factors for the Oaks although the managed more runs than hits due to 2 errors from Chicago. A rare game where a team (Dondero) left 0 runners on base in a 5 run win, on the flipside Chicago left 10 on base. |
| Game #2: | Dondero 1 – Chicago 0 W: J. Lackey (7-5) 7.1IP 4H 0R 4K L: K. Milwood (9-8) 7IP 4H 1R 8K S: M. Rivera (15) Jose Valentin got a solo home run in the bottom of the 7th, the only extra base hit allowed by Millwood which was the difference. A fantastic pitchers duel in this one. |

Phil Nevin had a 2 run home run to open the scoring for Chicago in the 2nd but Dondero managed their third win in a row and a guarantee of at least a series tie. |
| Game #4: | Chicago 4 – Dondero 2 W: A. Benes (2-4) 6IP 4H 2R 4K L: J. Jennings (3-9) 6IP 9H 3R 3K S: B. Wagner (19) Chicago gets on the board with a big 7th inning to break a 2-2 tie. Carlos Delgado had a HR and 2RBI in this one which was the difference, he also outscored Dondero himself by touching home 3 times. Andy Benes gave up solo home runs to Frank Thomas & Jose Valentin. While the score was close, Chicago had everything going in this game but again struggled to get runners on base in stranding 12 runners. |

Thankfully they plated 10 runs because again they left double-digit runners on base with 10. Mark McLemore had a 4 hit 3 RBI game. Every starter for Chicago had a hit except Carlos Delgado but he did walk so everyone got on base in this one. |

| Series Summary: | In a shocker, Dondero takes 4 of 6 from Chicago. The Demolition had plenty of opportunities to score in the set but left 10+ on base in 4 of the 6 games. They will watch the Corktown/Harper Woods series very closely to see if they lose any additional ground. |

| Game #1: | Both starters pitched seven strong innings. The Mullets got on the board first with a solo from Simons off Ortiz in the 4th. Lawrence allowed back to back doubles in the 7th with two outs that tied it 1-1. In the bottom of the 7th, a Klesko error allowed Vaughn to reach first. Rowand ran for him, moved to second on sac bunt and scored on a Vizquel rbi single. Politte and Stewart locked down the 8th and 9th. Flora-Bama 2-1 |
| Game #2: | The Blarney Drive offense woke up in this one. Ordonez hit a three run bomb in the first and then a solo homer in the 3rd. Berkman hit a two run homer and Piazza tripled and scored. The Mullets tied it 4-4 in the 4th, but Wells regrouped and pitched well the next two innings. Beckett gave up two more homers to Klesko and Gant in the 5th. Giles added a homer off recently acquired Mecir and the Bandits coasted to an easy win. Blarney Drive 10-4 |
| Game #3: | The Big Unit received his 2001 World Series ring and a five minute standing ovation prior to the start of the game. Schilling gave up a Spivey lead off homer to start the game and then was great (8 SO) for the first five. However, Johnson went seven scoreless innings and left with a comfortable lead after homers from Giles (7th and 8th) and Ordonez (8th) gave the Bandits a 5-0 lead. Blarney Drive 6-1 |
| Game #4: | Hunter’s two rbi single in the 3rd gave the Mullets the early lead. Burkett walked the first two batters in the 5th and Piazza made him pay with a three run homer. Klesko’s timely single off Burnett in the 6th helped get two back. Doubles by Kennedy and Vizquel added an important run in the bottom of the 6th. Mecir relieved Burnett in the 8th and was worse than his first effort as a Mullet. He hit the first two batters and then gave up a three run homer to Giles to make it a one run game. Hammond and Pollite came on and closed out the 8th and 9th to barely preserve the win for Burnett. Flora-Bama 6-5 |
| Game #5: | Klesko led off the game with homer against Lawrence. The Mullets put runners on 3rd and 2nd with no outs in the bottom of the 1st, but Leiter worked out of it. Leiter walked the first two batters in the 2nd and the Mullets let Vaughn pinch hit for Grace and he smacked a three run homer. Ordonez’s two run homer tied it in the 3rd. Green smacked a rbi double in the 5th to break the tie. Lowell’s sac fly in the 8th made 5-3. In the 9th, Groom came on to close it and struggled with his control. Rowand worked a walk, Wooten took one for the team and Hunter hit a three run walk-off homer. Flora-Bama 6-5 |
| Game #6: | Hunter hit a solo homer in the 1st off Ortiz. Lowell double in the 2nd off Schilling to tie it 1-1. Green’s solo in the 3rd put the Bandits on top 2-1. Vizquel hit a sac fly to tie it in the 4th. Mecir relived Schilling with two outs in the 5th and gave up a walk that later scored on a Green single off Stewart. Ordonez added a solo in the 6th. Ortiz finished after seven strong innings only give up three hits. Weathers pitched a quiet 8th. Groom allowed two hits in the 9th, but regrouped to avoid another collapse. Blarney Drive 4-2 |
| Series Summary: | The Bandits really showed off their power going deep often and outscoring the Mullets by 10 runs in the six game series. However, they’ll have to settle for just the series split as the Mullets scratched out three one run wins. Blarney Drive definitely seems to be peaking at the right time and could be the favorite to represent the National League in the World Series. |

| Game #1: | Well if all games go like this one, it will be a good week. 5-0 after 1, 7-zip after 2 and it just got better (or worse) depending on point of view. Gas Hornets end up scoring 16 times and they actually received more walks (11) than they had hits (9)! Damian Jackson and Wil Cordero both have 4 rbis – lots rest. | Game #2: | Amazing game. Gladiators scratch out 2 runs in the 1st, Tino Martinez hits 2 run homer (14) in the 2nd. Then we go 11 scoreless innings! Steve Karsay comes in in the 9th and tosses 6 innnings of 1 hit – no walks – innings. And in the top of the 14th, former Gas Hornet Benito Santiago launches a massive 3 run homer (9) and that is the game winner – as Karsay finished a brilliant long relief stint. | Game #3: | Manhattan rebounds with a 1 hit pitching combo from Brian Meadows (6 ip, 1 hit) and Valdimir Nunez, 3 ip, 0 hits. The 1 hit was a 2nd inning solo homer (28) from Jeff Bagwell. Manhattan’s offense rebounded from the massive drought in game 2 with 11 hits, homer by Jeter (11) and 3 rbis from Garrett Anderson. GLA 1- 1-2 LP Vazquez (10-11) MGH 6-11-0 WP Meadows (3-1) |
| Game #4: | Barn burner that was not known until it was over. Teams each got 1 in 2nd, but Gas Hornets pull way ahead with 4 in the 4th. But Gladstone ties it with 3 in the 5th and another in the 6th. Hinske driving in 4 in this one include a big 3 run double in the 5th. But Manhattan regains the lead in the 6th when again they score 4 runs – including a 2 run Brook Fordyce homer (1) – who is having an amazing year at the plate in a very limited role. With Manhattan up 9-5 as the 7th begins, their lead dwindles to 2 as 2 more Gladiators score. But another Manhattan run in the 8th gives the hometeam some breathing room and Kim closes it out – but he has to come in in the 9th with 2 on – whew, glad this one finally ended. And again the wrecking crew is former Gas Hornet Benito Santiago. He goes 4 for 4, 3 rbis – homer (10). However, the Gas Hornets don’t quit and they tie it up with 2 in the 7th and then 3 in the 8th. Pat Hentgen takes the loss and goes to 2-11 on the year. Dotel gets his 14th save. David Eckstein is hit by the pitch and is injured for the rest of the series. |
| Game #2: | Houghton’s Ted Lilly gives up a run in the top of the first, but Lilly and Houghton’s bullpen does not give up any run and only allows 3 hits on the day. Houghton wins 4-1. Lilly goes 5-1 and Mark Prior falls to 5-2. Prior only gave up 5 hits, but 3 of them were homeruns. Dotel gets save number 15. |
| Game #3: | It was a 1-run game until the bottom of the 6th, and then Houghton scored 4, 2, and 3 runs to put the game away 13-5. Ashby with the win goes 8-8. Hasegawa picks up the loss in relief. Two batters powered the Stealers offense. Matt Lawton (traded from Houghton to Southlake earlier in the year) goes 3-5 with 3 doubles, and Matt LeCroy goes 3-4 with 2 homeruns. |
| Game #4: | Houghton wins 8-4. Buehrle improves to 12-6, and sturtze falls to 1-13 on the year. The Stealers LeCroy hit another homerun along with Encarnacion to power the Stealers offense with 2 run homeruns a piece. Houghton’s Fullmer and Kent each hit 3 run homeruns. |
| Game #5: | Houghton explodes for 16 runs on 23 hits to beat Southlake 16-2. Kirk Rueter was 2 outs away from a shutout. Burrell went 5-6 with a homerun and a double. Jose Cruz went 4-5 with a walk and a homerun. Ron villone takes the loss and falls to 1-3. |
| Game #6: | Ismael Valdez and Dotel finish the final game like they started the series with a win and a save to complete the sweep of Southlake. Final score was 6-5. Craig Wilson went 3-3, homerun and 3 RBIs. Matt LeCroy made the game interesting with a 3-run homerun in the top of the 8th, and Dotel almost stumbled by giving up 2 walks in the top of the 9th to bring the winning run to the plate. However, Dotel struck out Beltran, who was pinch hitting to end the game. |
