Will Clark is an undeniable choice for the Mid-West Winter League (MWWL) Hall of Fame, representing the ideal blend of power, precision, and defensive excellence over a stellar 15-year career. Clark’s journey saw him play for two franchises, beginning with the Cedar Park Bears (1986-1990) before cementing his legend with the Portland Mavericks (1991-2000).
Clark’s time with the Cedar Park Bears established his defensive credentials, where he secured three Gold Glove Awards at first base (1987, 1988, 1990) and earned his first All-Star selection in 1987. That year, he posted a remarkable .322 batting average, crushed 33 home runs, and drove in 119 runs.
Upon joining the Portland Mavericks, Clark’s career reached its zenith. In 1991, he delivered one of the greatest individual seasons in MWWL history, earning the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award and an All-Star Game starting nod. He was an offensive anchor, hitting .307 with a career-high 139 RBIs, 27 home runs, and a .567 slugging percentage.
Over his 1,965-game career, Clark consistently delivered elite production. He finished with an exceptional MWWL career batting average of .299 and a .379 on-base percentage. He compiled 2,159 hits, 443 doubles, and finished with 239 home runs and 1,184 RBIs, accumulating a total of 1,117 runs scored. Clark’s four All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves, and a well-deserved MVP award solidify his standing as a legendary MWWL player and a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
